Well I have the 3rd member designed finally. Found the final gears I needed. Still needs some small details done but the majority of the work is finished. Just need to add some retaining clips and add link mounts to the axle housing. Then the search begins to find someone who will machine that 3rd member housing....
Final drive ratio came to 5.11. Everything turned out almost exactly 1/6th scale except that I couldn't get all the mounting studs for the 3rd to the housing and the access panel on top is slightly larger than the 1:1. http://i736.photobucket.com/albums/x..._assembled.jpg This thing will be BEEFY. http://i736.photobucket.com/albums/x...W_exploded.jpg The exploded 3rd http://i736.photobucket.com/albums/x...d_exploded.jpg |
sweeet.

Is it not possible for you to utilise anything off of the XTM X-Crawler? I know it's MOA, but it has some of the beefiest looking alloy axles I've ever seen. Plus as it's a super class it probably isn't far off size wise.

Update
Have you managed to do anymore with this setup? I love the inflatable tire/wheel setup, very cool. That was a lot of work just to run on water though. I do love how big it sat up once you applied some air to those already huge tires. Good work.

Tough times for all.
Yea tough times for everyone. Ya know that is the one thing that I have noticed during such hard times. Even with our deminished economy the CNC guys seem to be keeping pretty busy. I have seen a few guys trying to get personal projects done, but getting time do actually manufacture parts for R/C always take a back seat. We look forward to seeing your next chapter with this truck. Good luck with that.
