In stock trim they run fine on 3s but use BrianG speed calc to gear conservatively because the motor tends to get hot. Get a heat sink also.

I agree with whoever said it, either put some sand-paddles on the front of that thing and make some deflectors to double-side tape to the body to keep the sand out of the internals of the truck, or at least run the sand-blades on the front...the front is rarely on the ground anyway, and with the blades, you will get MUCH better steering, and have zero wheel-speed difference issues.

Whats the best shock position/setup for lowering the Slash 4X4 for onroad speed runs.Just move the shocks to the outside mounting position?I have Pro-line powerstroke shocks.

YUP, And add at least 8oz of weight to the front. With stock body I couldn't get it over 60mph with it getting airborne.
I put on a Losi dirt oval body and clicked off 2 runs back to back at 84mph.
Third run my 1509 NEU's magnet let go

phatmonk 06.27.2010 11:02 AM

Thanks.I am runnin a MMM CC Neu 2650 on 4s.Just gotta be aware of the massive power it has because we all know its gonna be hard on the drivetrain. It actually snapped the front axles.

Bondonutz 06.27.2010 11:07 AM

I was running 5s with the 1509 till she popped. A 2650 on 4s will be the next power plant experiment myself, should be entertaining ??!!

I've been running the MMM2200kv on 3s, with 16/40t gearing.

So I just picked up another Slash 4x4 on RCTech. This thing will have one purpose and that purpose is to compete with Nick here and see how much of the truck will survive on 30+ ft jumps and ridiculous bashing.

Semi Pro 08.28.2010 08:42 PM

lots of great info in here guys

i ordered my slash 4x4 last night (standard not pe) as well as a set of front and rear tekno cvd's, some rpm arms,Traxxas Hardened Steel Front Drive Hub,and a King Headz Traxxas Slash 4x4 Slipper Bearing Adapter

does anyone know where i can find the Kings Heads motor mount in stock?

Bondonutz 08.28.2010 09:21 PM

As awesome as the RPM arms are I think they and CVD's don't mix, the arms have a ton of Flex.
Example: I run a asphault Slash oval class with Latemodel bodys and foam tires, I had to ditch the RPM arms because I was eating up tires due to the high traction flex. Went back to stockers and tire prob was solved.
Don't be surprised after your first real crash the axle looks like bananna, hope I'm wrong ?
