I would rather use 4 shocks... but if it bottoms out too hard, then I'll have to do 8... 3 layers of CF should still be way lighter than the aluminum shock tower for sure... I wonder if there's any way of making a carbon fiber a-arms... think it's a good idea to trace out the a -arms... then cut the aluminum or stock a-arms and then sandwich them together with the carbon fiber..... cuz I can sandwich 8 pieces of 1/8 carbon fiber and cut them easily with a band saw...

COOL.. news..:: Mike replied to my E-mail.. I've already had Dan at KD do the chassis... but I will ask Mike to make me another one... this time.. Powered by the LEHNER 3080 6 Turn (875 rpm/volt) Motor and possible the Schulze 40.160WK Pancake... Will be powered by 40 IB4200s or maybe 13S 8000 MAH Lipos... My G-Maxx project will be cancelled for this project and so will the 2280 Project(only the chassis)..... I can't wait... whoohoo..
I hope it's less than 20Lbs.. cuz the motor, battery and ESC is already clost to 11 Lbs... |
I'm not trying to talk you out of it.. but that motor is useless in a car. the rotor is way too heavy for a car.
i am pretty sure that a 10s flightpower powered 2230/2240 will be faster(lighter, higher power/weight ratio) |
Really?... I know is a 4 Lb motor... what about another 2280 or maybe should I just stick to a 2250.... ? Maybe you're right.... I don't know man... I tend to get carried away.... just the 3080 looks so beautiful.. she's a little obese.. but she's beautiful... think a 2250 would be cool?.. or should I do the 2230 or 2240.. I will be running from 24 to 40 cells.... probably 24 cells most the time...
what would you recommend Serum? I'd rather not get a new ESC since I already have 2 24160s... |
Wow! The 3080 might be better suited for a high speed child's go cart! Or even a relatively slow adult conveyance - like a little scooter or something like that.
|
The 2230 is more than enough, really. You simple don't need a 2250, in fact, you might consider the 2240 instead, that's a nice in betweener.
Don't loose your initial goal out of sight. All of a sudden your talking about the heaviest motor available with a shitload of batteries. Makes no sense LOL the 2230 would be the motor i would take. a relative small rotor. take the kv that brings you to the 30000 rpm on the desired voltage. and use the slipperential for the reduction so you can gear it at these rpm's |
I thought about it... I'm gonna do the 2230 14 Turn Hi-Amp on 24 Cells... using the MGM 24160 on my KD Carbon Fiber E-maxx and.. use my 2280 for the One Mike will build.... the 40 Cell chassis.. but I will only be using 24 Cells... SO I'm pretty sure now of what I'm goin' to use....
hey, is it good to use the torsen diff for the front and the rear... because I still don't know what a torsen diff does... would it be useful?.. What other kinds of diffs with the fastlane hybrid 1/8 Bulkheads take?... |
A torsen diff normally divides the power better between left/right. So if one wheel is slipping, and the other has grip, all the energy goes to the slipping wheel. With a torsen diff this is prevented and the power to both wheels will be about the same.
|
so I guess that's a good thing then..... will the fastlan bulks take the ofna or duratrax torsen diff?... will it take the new 1/8th scale diffs also?...
|
No, for the same reason i explained you earlier. they don't fit because of the too small ring-gear.
|
Are we talking savage or other flm? I thought the diff would fit the hybird bulks but not the savage ones.
|
Good point, i thought this was about the savage bulks.

Hi,
with a Lehner 3080 you'll need 1/1 diffs and trasmission, not 1/8 ones. Sorry aqwut, but this sounds me really unuseful. Too weight: it's an really Heavy motor with really heavy batteries. It will weight too much. And keepeing it light in the other parts means you have to renounce to have strong parts. And that power will destroy your truck. The best is not the most powerfull. The best is finding a better equilibrium between the power and the total weight with batteries. Even if we suppose you'll find some alien materials to make your truck (really lighter and strong) you will destroy your tires, and your hex in the first throttle up. You won't be able to use it neither on the straight-on to make misurations. Believe me ! Just my 2 cents. Ciao, Daniele |
yeah it's true.... NL12 wants to get rid of his 2240, so that'll be my powerplant if the price is right.... else... ill just stick to what I have.... the 2280... Lookin' at the specs of the CEN GST, it's really starting to look good to me... the stock parts looks pretty tough.... but though, I'd rather have all alloy parts.... Hmm... GST would use the same parts as the Genesis and Nemesis 7.7 Correct?.
