This is true. I have tested and blown up all my controllers same day but they were nice and said they wouldn't turn my life support off.

I did clearance the bottom of the case so that the fan plug did not rest on it. I also enlarged the opening that the signal and switch wires exit thru. And I added some high density foam underneath the main pcb to support it. That way the board could not knock against the bottom cover during a hard landing. My fan still works too.

does that void your warranty?

and has this problem been fixed on the v2's?

No beating around the bush... well done!:yes::wink:

E-Revolution 08.18.2008 10:42 AM

Yes offcouse I have been read this thread, but they are not handsome for international shipping for a while. Its good thing that Castle is now shipping them to ppls, I thought that they are not ready to ship.

Sorry, I hope my reply wasn't too offensive.

This guy is from sweden and has his already (p19 of this thread).

TruckBasher 08.18.2008 11:03 AM

Well, I still have 1 MMM on order but canceled 3 and now working with my LHS to get the MGM 16018 since Mike is still out of stock. CC is now shipping but if you ordered from reseller then it will take another week or so. Good for those who bought it from them directly, one guy bought June 27 and got his MMM Aug (2nd week). I bought mine months ago (reseller) still waiting and got tired of it.

Lol if my gf didn't let me sit for an hour on the 'net here and there I'd dump her sorry ass lol. Nah man I'm doing a PhD full time - moved from newcastle down to wollongong to do it, and drive from the 'gong back to newcastle (3hrs each way) to spend the weekend with my gf every week... I think the problem isn't that I have too much time on my hands, my priorities are just all wrong lol, I really need to do some work on my damn thesis...

And this thread gets about 5 posts a day, so doesn't take THAT much out of my day to keep updated...I don't spend that much time on here.. maybe an hour a day tops :) certainly not ALL day.

So THAT'S why it took so long to fix the problem! :wink: lol, just kidding.

Kidding aside, I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say we all greatly appreciate you taking the time here sharing your expertise and answering all the questions!

+1^^

After some track time yesterday all I can say is...Butta (butter). Great job on the V2 MMM CC. Thanks.

Another +1.

Looks like Castle pulled through for us, too bad I already have an MGM 16018 for my BL Muggy project. I may be getting a Hyper 7 for free, and that may get a CC Neu combo :cool:

hoovhartid 08.18.2008 11:27 PM

I have been running my MMM V2 through the paces... So far she just keeps on rippin' :yipi:

I posted this in another forum, but I thought it may apply here as well...
For those that have been asking about the fan wire rubbing issue that the V1 had.... Castle has addressed this issue. For those unfamiliar with this, look at the following pic of a mmm v1;
http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k1...sam/MMCASE.jpg

The case was rubbing the wires bare and in some cases broke fan plugs off.

---Patrick said this would be addressed, and it was. Their solution was a foam pad that conforms to the electronics and prevents the wires and such from rubbing;

http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k1...m/IMG_1373.jpg

Also, people did not like the fan in the MMM V1. They have had a very high failure rate.
In V2, the fan only comes on when the ESC is at 150F or higher;(patrick mentions this in another thread) Castle now includes an insert that addresses this.

http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k1...m/fanstuff.jpg

On a side note, To prevent my E-revo from the possibility of looking like this;
http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k1...m/IMG_4482.jpg

I made a metal (Al) plate to cradle my MMM V2 in;
http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k1...m/IMG_1374.jpg
http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k1...m/IMG_1375.jpg
http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k1...m/IMG_1377.jpg

The plate is DS Taped and screwed into the chassis, the MMM is DS taped and Zip-Tied to the plate. If it burns up, at least the plastic wont melt too much.:neutral: (thanks for the idea, neil)

Anyway, Hope this helps others that are on the fence about the MMM V2. Its working great so far. Tho, with the support Castle has been giving, i'm not worried in any case. Even if it fails, they are on their game. They will take care of it.

Still my top pick for upgrading the e-revo

As for the abuse;
I have run my MMM on 4s and 6s.
I use a Tekno Neu 1515/1Y in my e-revo.
My gearing was 24/58.

I did full throttle into full braking.
High speed runs back to back. :diablo:
Tall grass running (taller than the truck)

I was able to get my 6s batteries to 130F (2 3s zippy 4300's) oops
My motor to 203F (not good)
All the while my fan on my MMM turned on for about 2 minutes. The highest temp was 155F.
It was about 94F outside when I did most of my "testing".

When running my 4s set-up;
The motor hit 178F
The batteries hit 118F (2 2s true rc 8000mAh 15c)
The MMM fan turned on, but by the time I got the body off the truck to check the temps it had already shut off. so 148F when I checked it.

I have since, changed my gearing to 24/62.

My highest motor temp now has been 174F.

will probably move to 24/65 gearing.

the power of this set-up is incredible.

great job castle!

TruckBasher 08.19.2008 12:00 AM

Nice ESC mount

Thanks for the photos

DOnt get too excited about the padding. I know of a few white plugs that have already broken off on the V2. I just dremeled some of the material on the case bottom away below the plug and that other component so they cant rub and left the pad out. IMO the pad probably makes the problem worse by making less clearance between the components and the case bottom and putting even more pressure on them.

This is what the dremel job looked like on my V1. I just did the same thing on the V2 and left the pad out.

You still need to open up the spot on the top case where the controler and switch wires come out as well. Nothing chaged from V1 to V2. Still a tight fit and still rubbing the wires. Open up the slot on the cse a bit and wrap a few layers of electrical tape around the wires and its fine.

I also cut the fan grill out on the V2. The fan still catches on it when it turns on and kills the fan. It just lasts 3 packs now instead of 1.

As long as the BEC doesnt quit, they have done enough. The rest can be fixed ourselves. with 10 minutes and a dremel.

Jhautz- might I enquire as to which dremel attachment you used to make such a clean job?

Sammus 08.19.2008 09:47 AM

Yeah same, I wonder if you could use the drill press thing and use it as a kind of dodgy mill.

It looks like the edges of the case bottom are all pretty much even. I would think you could get a piece of acrylic to lay over the case. Then make an opening in the acrylic (.5"?). Then use the depth gauge attachment on the dremel to sit on top of the acrylic. Set the depth of the bit and go to it. I would make sure to put the case bottom on a non-slip rubber mat so it doesn't move around.

You can, but you need end mills. I've been using my drill press as a "dodgy mill" for a few years now.

blueb8llz 08.19.2008 06:31 PM

doing the drememling on the cases should not void the warranty. if it does, i will be pretty upset as i was told by one of the customer service reps from CC that i should dremel the casing when i told him i had a fan failure.

The CC rep told you to dremel the case , why was this not done from the factory then :no:

I did not cancel my back order ( as i was going to ) after seeing the mostly positive results with V2 and it looks like the order is being procesed tomorrow :yipi:. However i am not impressed that you still have to do the same mods to V2 as you did with V1 and the CC reps are recommending the mods .
Why weren't these issues resolved ?

JThiessen 08.20.2008 08:42 AM

My Tower Order (placed May 6), now shows "invoiced, processing in warehouse". Damn, and I leave Tuesday morning for the Ocean...there is no way its going to get to me in time, I was hoping to have it prior to going out there. Watch it get stolen off my front porch while I'm gone.....that would just figgure after waiting this long!

From Tower Hobbies. I have been waiting for MMM avalibilty in Mike's store with no luck :/

Xtremespeed 08.20.2008 06:58 PM

I'm proud yours is on the way. Kinda ticks me off though. I ordered mine May 3rd, and Mike's order was in before Tower's and we still don't have ours. They'll all be here soon, which is great, but I dont think Mike was taken care of properly. Just my .02.

Electric Dave 08.20.2008 07:02 PM

So RC Monster Mike...did they show up today? (Wednesday)
