Wow, looks really good! Hey, what is that hole on the side of the mount? Is that tapped for an M3? That might be exactly what I was hoping for. Mount looks thick too. Nice

Matt's truck is not going to see action that's why River said "ha ha funny".
If it's going to be run, it will be on Matt's sodded yard and I'm taking bets on that :lol:. |
I see... That's sad...

Finn- the side holes are indeed m3 |
Harold or anyone else with a new mount- can you post some dimensions of this thing. I'm curious if it will fit in a project in mind...

Yep, I just decided a little too late that I want to try one out instead of make one myself...:whip: Now get me some damn dimensions! |
82mm tall 47mm wide 42mm front to back
Finn- I got a 52t spur to fit with a little dremeling. I'll post pics tomorrow |
A friend of mine made this
http://i650.photobucket.com/albums/u...fmountside.jpg http://i650.photobucket.com/albums/u...ldiffmount.jpg |
That looks like something I made, only better
With a little design tweakage, I reckon that could be made to bolt in place of the tranny on a maxx based truck- or to the insides of the TVPs on a savy... |
|
That was a good guess then..
I'll have to watch the video when I get home as youtube is blocked at work  |
Oh ...How nice :oh:

Would you mind measuring how tall that M3 hole is up from the bottom? @AA: I saw where he said the bit about turnbuckles, but I've never had a Gmaxx, so didn't know what the hell that meant. The holes can't be seen in the pix in the store. Funny tho, as that's just what I wanted. :) |

Here are some pictures of my mount on a gmaxx. These are just mock-up pics:
http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/DSC05440.jpg http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/DSC05441.jpg http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/DSC05442.jpg http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/DSC05443.jpg I moved the mount forward so I can use existing dogbone from my parts bin. For this installation, I used a 132mm(UE thunder + mono dogbone) for the rear and 70mm (UE Titanium dogbone for the front. CD is Ofna with a 44T spur. |
Sweet
How much do you need to raise it ? |
Why raise the motor/CD? I think it would be simpler and better to just cut the rear upper plate, at least that's what I would have done if I hadn't gotten a mounting plate with my "prototype" CD/motor mount.
|
Or make a new top plate that like this ?
The easiest would be to just cut the fan mount out http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z.../DSC05441a.jpg |
I think if he moves the mount more forward he wont have to cut anything . Hell have a lower cog and more weight up front which I found to be more desirable when running a cd to keep the front tires from unloadind from brushless power. Or even running a spool to help keep the front down. TNot to mention a better drivline angle. The savage xl bone is definatly longer than the UE bone I just wonder if it will work with a standard 57.5mm t-maxx bone.
|
I chose to mount it that way in order to use available dogbones from my parts bin. I used UE's dogbone for the thunder with the mono in the rear and UE's 70mm titanium dogbone in the front. There is still enough space to drill new mounting holes if I decide to use different size dogbones but for now, this setup will do.
Center diff is an Ofna with 44T spur and a 15T RCM pinion. I'll be replacing the diff pinion with an Ofna 10T to lower my top speed. Right now, the diffs are buggy diffs(43/13). I'll be running this on 5S :. Here are pics of the finished assembly: http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/DSC05460.jpg I used a 7/32 mill bit to make the recessed holes. http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/DSC05461.jpg http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/DSC05462.jpg http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/DSC05463.jpg http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/DSC05469.jpg http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/DSC05481.jpg http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/DSC05482.jpg http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/DSC05483.jpg I'll be making a new chassis plate out of 7075T6 aluminum. It will be longer by about 2 inches compared to the stock plate. Here's the template I'll be using: http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/DSC05356.jpg |
Looks good Lito! Very impressed with this mount!!

Looks Like it will work good lito. The savage dogbone can be had for ~$12 shiped. Heres what I had in mind: not too sure if the g1 and g2 chassis are same demension wise though..
If I mount it this far up it might work without a chassis adapter plate. But I am not sure it will work until I get a diff with a 44 tooth gear. It might be to far foward but I have lots of room to move it back but a adapter like litos most likely will also have to be made. http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s...x/CIMG2774.jpg http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s...x/CIMG2774.jpg http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s...x/CIMG2775.jpg http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s...x/CIMG2776.jpg It is almost as if the braces welcome the motor where they go down.Notice how the motor sits as low as possible for better cog and driveline angles. http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s...x/CIMG2773.jpg http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s...x/CIMG2777.jpg The savage xl bone is ~141mm compared to the ue 132mm mono dogbone so I am not sure if its long enough to make this setup possible but it will move the assembly ~9mm foward more which isnt much. Anybody got a center diff with a 44t steel gear they want to sell? My ofna 46tooth hyper diff is just a hair to wide. |
Just for clarification, pretty much any CD will fit?
|
The 44T spur will hit the x-braces if it sits low unless the G3 chassis is a bit wider than the G1. This is the reason why I made the mounting plate. I also tried a Kyosho 46 and Ofna 48T spurs but the 44T works the best unless I use a CNC in making the mounting plate holes.
|
Well my 46 tooth wont fit in between the rails and when in the mount it seems to not be wide enough so there is alot of foward and back movent. This is a older hyper 7 cd.
|
Do the 46 and 48T spurs fit in the RCM mount tho? I'll be using this in a different application.

Mike made this mount in order to fit his Slipperential in which uses a 46T Mod1 spur. I'm not sure I understand where the mount needs to be clearanced to fit the 46T Ofna. Pics?

The 46 and 48 will fit if the mount is raised. I tried 44, 46, 48, and 52T spurs but 44T fits better than the rest on my G1 chassis. The x-braces opening/gap on my G1 chassis is 46.2mm measured with my digital caliper. |
