oh great
No worries, though. I'm sure Tekin will outdo themselves with the rx8.
Their R1Pro is a state of the art little thing and I'm really excited to see the monster version of this controller. |
i wanna see the motor
No one really knows any info on the motor
Well, if you go to a thread in the rctech forums regarding the r1pro being used for over 3s, the prez said ( Well, as far as I've understood) that the motors are going to be designed on the bases of the Neu motors just like CC's.
yeah i put that on my faves
look at their again seems like they will be realeasing 1700-3200kv motors
I'm not surprised Tekin pulled the Mt off the site. Right now they cant even keep the new RS in stock anywhere. Its a double edged sword, hi demand, low production numbers. I was lucky enough to pick up a RS, and then a R1 pro for my Touring cars, I love there size and hotwire PC software is a must have. Tekin has for the most part been upfront with everyone on the R1, it simply doesnt work well with 21.5's and 13.5 turn motors, but with new firmware works very well with everything else. The new RS is more for those motors the R1 didnt accept, but has a neat feature to jump to unsensored mode after it has the motor moving, very innovative! I'll definately wait my turn to see if Tekin puts out the Mt this year, With the new Emaxx, ERevo and Esavage sport there's no reason not too.
that feature to switch from sensored to sensorless, has been used first in Speed passion GT (Hobby wing xerun 120).
I will wait the Mamba max pro, switch bec + 5S + sensor port = win |
I think I'll just get a Schulze Universal L 115 controller( the size of a baby shoes) and it'll either make me happy or plain sad.
there are now some more vids for the rx8
Here is the link for those of you too lazy to look...

I can't wait until tekin starts cranking out these killer controls...I have a rage in my mini t and I'm in love with it. Shulze is a waste of money, my boat guy (in good conscious) refused to even sell me one!!
C'mon guys we are hanging here , please any updates .
is there a difference between the r1mt and the rx8?
They just changed the name.
Anyone heard any news on it? Losi bought out a 1/8 ESC from no-where and Tekin is still making designing theirs :eyes:
I'm sure when it's released though ( Tekin that is ) you won't be having any problems with it:wink:
We have been working on it quietly. We took a pretty good beating for being late on previous product announcements so we are taking a lower key approach.
We have been a thru a number of motor prototypes and think we are close to a final version. We also have the esc designed and in proto stages. Unique engineering takes a lot more time than mass produced OEM variations. How many colors do we need on basically the same stuff? We are also seeing some good results on the R1pro with a metal housing to remove heat. The R1pro has more than enough power handling and actually has more fets than our Rx8 or any the 1/8 controllers. Due to its small size it may still have a home in the 1/8 market with a decent heatsink. We hope to have some good lipos pretty soon and a separate BEC unit as well to take care of all the power needs. Tekin Prez |
Sounds good!
Are we talking soon as in before the end of this race season? Here in the Northeast we have basically two more months...If you miss the window for this season it's not a big deal, I'd just like to have a few items to put on my Christmas list to make shopping easy for my wife... |

Sweet, thanks for the update. The R1 is rated at 3S, is the RX8 going to be the same? |
I'll ask for it one last time. 6S and 10-12S.
I've been having great efficiency with my 8S set up now and the only draw back now is that the drive shaft has bent and I have to make a new one. The ESC has never seen temps more then 5 degrees over ambient and the motor (Great old Aveox 36/38/2Y) has never seen 130 degrees and thats after 30 minutes of hard running. |
with what esc?
Rx8 has been mentioned as being a 6s or 8s capable esc IIRC.
Lutach was talking about his chinese HV escs that he's working on. Great news about the Rx8 though- Im personally not so fussed about the motor, but a capable esc and reliable one at that would be great, same with the BEC too. |

and when the rx8 release....just to kick a*** of mmm:lol:
seriusly its gonna be a great controller...wow 8cell:whip: |
The Rx8 will not likely be released in the next few months. It will be ready and being tested, but the housing mold will take 8-10 weeks and has not been started. We have our molds built right here in Idaho and mold the parts here as well.
The R1pro and Rspro are rated to 3s because of the BEC limits. The units actually work fine up to 5s or even 6s if you use a seperate BEC unit. WE added voltage cutoffs for these batteries in the latest software. Remember they were designed for 1/10 scale, but because they have such a huge pile of fets they have found a home in larger scales using higher voltages. With better heat removal they may continue to be a popular choice. I hear you Lutach and agree in some engineering respects. However the Rx8 uses 30v fets and will only be rated to 6s batteries. We are fairly confident that any racing rules will be based on 4s batteries and that will be the standard. Some may use up to 6s, but beyond that there are other factors to consider like the chargers that are commonly available. All of the manufacurers appear to be headed towards this range. If you want decent prices and good racing we have to settle somewhere common. It is not up to use and this just where it looks like we are going as a industry. We have also had many people suggest we leave the switching BEC out of the unit. Just like rockcrawling applications, it may make sense to keep the BEC seperate since it is a common failure point and kills the entire speedo. This allows easy changes on failed BEC units. Right now we do have a switching BEC in the design. The RSpro and R1pro do not have a switching BEC and fill the other market niche. We think we have it covered and now just have to get them on the shelf. |

I got the 35v 2700uf cap with the esc and just solded it to the battery terminal posts ( bought the esc used in great condition like new ) . You can also get them on ebay in the US but shipping at around $10 - $12 is nearly ten times more than the value of the capacitors , and don't go any more than 3000uf as they are very large at that size . I also got a couple of 35v caps from Jay Car which i'm sure are located OZ wide, in case i get another Tekin .They are only 1000uf though so if using them you will have to parallel two of them to get 2000uf , i think you should try and run at least 1400uf in our applications . |
Here is a link to the ones i got from Jay Car http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView...=&SUBCATID=859 if you find any other sources in OZ just make sure they are radial low esr capacitors .
I got a little circuit board as well when at jay car so if i do parallel two capacitors i can do it on the board and make a little capacitor bank set up  |
We sell a few good caps also.
TT3543 Power Cap 25V 1800uF 5Slipo (2) TT3544 Power cap 25v 2200uF 5Slipo (2) TT3545 Power Cap 25V 2700uF 5Slipo (2) TT3552 Power Cap 35V 1500uF 6Slipo (2) Short leads and or 2 in parrallel is always good stuff. Mounted securely, these caps leads were not really designed for the abuse of being bounced around. |

Just looked for tehm on the Tekin site and they arent listed anywhere on there either. ??? Hows someone supposed to get these?
Unfortunately few have ordered them since we are not really working the 1/8 market directly yet. I bet we can get RC-monster to stock them and we are willing to sell them direct since they are not really available. I will email mike and ask him.
how much are they if I order direct?
It would be great to know if Mike will be selling these or if we can buy them direct from Tekin .
I had a look on the Tekin site as well about a month ago when i got my R1 as i thought they were available but no luck . |
