Can you add the update to the HPI's BLUR rebrand? Newest it founds is 1.21(beta) and I already have that. (CastleLink 3.255)

Thomas Porfert 08.02.2010 11:07 AM

At this time, the new updates are not available for the OEM HPI controllers. My understanding of how it works is HPI has to approve any new software before they allow it for their controllers. The latest version they have approved is 1.21, so right now it's the highest you can go to on their controllers. v1.21 is a very stable firmware version, it just doesn't get all of the new features of v1.28. Until they give us the okay, there's not much that can be done.

Is there anybody who is having success with the new firmware? If so, what are your settings?

Just had a thought, what about an option to lower or even adjust the auto temperature sensor for the fan? Nothing wrong with keeping the MMM cooler. Unlike Brian, I love fans!

I love the update! I desperately needed the Max Power % adjustment for the racing I do. I've been using an odd throttle curve and just turning down the throttle EPA on my transmitter to get the correct power that I needed. We normally race brushed motors with a 4 cell battery setup (AAs to be exact ) and the track is specifically designed to race M18s and Micro RS4s with this power setup which gives us a full hour and a half of run time. I'm trying to bring the M18s that we race a bit more up to date with brushless and li-po but we need to maintain the same speed we had before. 40% throttle seems to match our older setup perfectly. I might find some use for the torque limiter too. If not on my M18 it will definitely help on my rc motorcycle!

I can't seem to figure out how to perform the motor test for my KV rating on my sidewinder speed control. I put it in test mode, update the ESC, run the motor with the red and green lights on but when I plug the castle link back in theres no information there. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

There is one other problem that I've been having even before this update and the throttle limit has exaggerated it. It might have something to do with my transmitter (Futaba 3PM) so I'm going to try a different transmitter tonight after racing before I explain it.

Oh yeah and here is why I need to limit the throttle. Track is 35ft x 12ft and the surface is simply wall paint. Track width is 22in infield and 28in wide around the edges. We race anywhere between 5 to 9 cars at a time and most of us are very good drivers for super close racing that you just can't get with fast cars on a large track.

Yup. I don't want to hi-jack this thread so heres our video page. http://www.harnoishobby.com/videos.html All of the videos are at least 2 years old and most of the video is on-board. We've made the cars easier to drive and have become better drivers since the latest video you'll find. Oh yeah we converted our cars to open wheel too.

OK, Direct Question here.

Will the New Mamba Software be compatible with the already released ICE HV Controllers?

Will you be able to load the Mamba software to an Phoenix ICE HV? No, with the software, there is no way to change a controller from a Phoenix to a Mamba.

Thanks for clearing that up.

Patrick had stated before that the Hardware Platform might be identical.

This tells me there must have been some hardware changes.

I'll try to get one as soon as they hit the market.

Updated to V3.26 and noticed that it doesn't tell you what the motor Kv is anymore. It just says that motor data has been acquired. What gives?

sikeston34m 08.12.2010 08:59 PM

Much better startup and smooth running on the Mamba Max Pro

How do you get the test to work in the first place? No on answered that for me in my last post. I've tried it with my Sidewinder speed control and the data never shows up even with V3.255.

I think that was to cut down on Tech support phone calls from people with four and six pole motors....

Make sure you have actually updated your Sidewinder to the latest firmware version. You must have 1.28 (now 1.29) on your controller to get the torque limit feature. Simply installing the latest software on the computer won't give you the latest firmware and any new features associated with that firmware. If you have updated to the latest firmware, then I'm not sure why you don't have the torque limit setting.
