TH , order placed June 21st showing order invoiced and being processed in warehouse now .

mtfly2000 08.21.2008 12:35 AM

WOW!!! This is Crazy!!! I too placed my order from Mike on May 3rd hoping to be caught in the first wave. But with Mike being shorted, I'm left still waiting like many others for that order of ~50 he's supposed to be getting any time now. Now I hear Tower is able to fulfill orders that were placed a month later. This is unacceptable, especially since he claims to have had his orders in before them!!! The only solace I still have in the matter is that Mike always ships very fast (usually gets to other side of the country here with-in 1-2 days, much quicker than Tower who only comes half-way across the country).

its me 08.21.2008 12:51 AM

You guys are blaming mike for something that he has no control over... It sucks that castle is having trouble with the demand for the esc, but blaming mike for the order not getting to him yet is ridiculous.

TruckBasher 08.21.2008 01:18 AM

Mike has one of the fastest shipping. He gets my orders to halfway across the world in 5days and his EMS rates are relatively cheaper. Mike is not to be blamed if the distributor that waits for castle to ship their Item is delayed. TH got it first because the got it directly from CC, so is the distributor that Mike gets it from....

I don't think anyone here is blaming Mike for the delay

It sounds like most are pissed since Mike put his order in before Tower but they are getting ther MMMs first . I do buisness with Mike and Tower , Mike gets the orders ready and ships to Australia much quicker than Tower but i went with Tower because by the time i was ready to order Mike already had a lot of back orders and i thought i would miss out .

I'm sure everyones orders will be shipping by next week.

So is this blaming Mike or not?

ogrfre01 08.21.2008 02:25 AM

not for sure

ffactory666 08.21.2008 02:31 AM

Think the guy is trying to say that it's unacceptable that Mike has been shorted on the order.

JThiessen 08.21.2008 09:14 AM

It is amazing what the impact of having too much information does to people. I've seen this time and time again on different boards, different subjects where particular vendors get involved on them, and make statements, which at the time they are made are complete, true, and we put our trust in them. Then due to circumstances (mostly out of the control of said vendor), delays occur. Said vendor(s) do the best they can to explain and rationalize the situation, and give new dates. BUT...with all things there are other companies and vendors involved, which throw additional delays in. Then you get guys complaining, how unfair it is to them. I really think this is a downside to the information technology available on the internet. Sometimes people are much better off "kept in the dark".

BTW, as I said before, I ordered mine from Tower in early May, and I also do not have it shipped, while others who ordered from Tower a month after me do. Obviously, towers ordering que is not set up first in first out. I've waited this long, what's another week or two going to hurt?

No. The system. Mike's customer service is second to none. I have no doubt that Mike has done everything in his power to make us customers happy (except to maybe bypass the middle man). Mike has done a lot for the 1/8 scale electric RC hobby and now he and his customers are being let down.

johnrobholmes 08.21.2008 05:11 PM

Mike will take care of all customers as fast as possible, I can tell you that. Although he doesn't buy straight from Castle, I know the distributor and they are not the cause of bottleneck. It is merely that Castle is having trouble keeping up with demand!

Now as to who gets what controllers when, that is another matter that we can't even guess on. I do know that Castle is sending out partial orders so that everybody gets a few here and a few there.

Pdelcast 08.21.2008 05:54 PM

And for us, it's like every day is something new. Today we ran out of 6.5mm connectors... bleah. Supposed to have more Monday.

awwwwww.....chit! Its been so long since I researched this that I forgot they were 6.5mm. I bought 6mm connectors. Are the 6.5's already soldered on? Hopefully not, so I can just use my 6mm's

jayjay283 08.21.2008 07:11 PM

6.5 are just soldered on to the side of the wire that plugs into the esc, you can use the 6mms fine for the other end and the motor

blueb8llz 08.22.2008 06:34 PM

my v1 almost died yesterday as well. i was bashing for 10 mins then needed to take a break because my 7xl as usual. 10 mins later, plugged everything in, turned the esc on, no beeps, no lights, but the fan was working. no signal to the remote either.
then i unplugged everything, and plugged everthing back in, mmm started working again.
wierd. it ran the entire lipo no problem afterwards.
i wonder why this happened.

suicideneil 08.22.2008 07:09 PM

It was still taking a rest break when you finished yours...

blueb8llz 08.22.2008 07:23 PM

lol yea thats what it seemed like. thing got me worried for a min there....it maybe a sign that its telling me its gonna poop soon.

123revo 08.24.2008 06:51 AM

ok guys...so how in fact do we tell V1 from V2? is it marked on the unit/box?

or do we have to wait for the subtle tell tale signs of an RC inferno?

just curious.

123

Sammus 08.24.2008 06:55 AM

V1 has the main wires sticking out, V2 has female plugs instead (see above post #337)

macr0w 08.24.2008 07:37 AM

Dang! I feel bad. I'm waiting on my 5th one.

So far I've had 2 v1's and 2 v2's. One of my v2's is still running but I'm waiting for the other. :mdr:

tc3_racer_001 08.24.2008 07:43 AM

but the question is, is the one you got running, up to scratch> i.e. are you happy with it. if yes then dont worry, one day it will be back to normal... until castle creations decide to bring out the HV prematurely. a 10S lipo going bang would be a pretty dangerous event... hope that never happens to anyone.

123revo 08.24.2008 07:51 AM

ok thanks cobber,

v1 has the wires hard soldered to the unit ,v2 has connectors soldered to the unit. gotcha mate.

My MMM v2 acted the same way before it died. You had to disconnect and reconnect the battery a few times before it powered the rx. Then 3-4 minutes into the third pack it just shut down and have been dead since. It still works with the castle link but it just wont power up the rx or run the motor

J3110 08.25.2008 04:02 PM

Just outta curiosity, have you tried running a BEC or battery pack for the RX?

Procharged5.0 08.25.2008 06:04 PM

I received my long awaited V2 this morning! I can't wait to try it out!

Thanks again Mike!

I havenīt, but a few other with the same problem have and it didnīt work

Sent mine in so I canīt try it either

JaySki 08.27.2008 10:37 AM

I have a question...
I am due to receive my second v2 today. First one puffed the internal BEC( I am assuming)
With all this talk about the Internal BEC, CCBECs, etc..
Is there any safety in just adding an external BEC and bypassing the internal? I REALLY don;t want to fry another MMM as I would like to tkae my revo on vaca and actually enjoy it for a change, instead of hearing my wife gripe.. "All that money you dump on that, and it just sits there!"

Serum 08.27.2008 01:57 PM

Answer his question Pdel! The last thing you want this man to do is have to admit to his wife she is right... !!

@ procharged;

Hank, is that you? i didn't recognize you with the hair..

OK OK!

I'll answer the man!

Ummm, I guess, maybe? (Actually, it really depends -- adding another BEC reduces the stress on the MMM, but also adds more to the system that can fail - additional electronics. So my answer is still "maybe". )

brushlessboy16 08.27.2008 03:50 PM

Next question... Really...

Is .. WTF is going on? Now that these are starting to hit the masses in larger numbers, the failure rates are really starting to grow.

Rumors are around that Bernie said something about the TEST group of the new unit was much smaller than they have done on any other product...

Now.. I will say that this stuff isn't a matter of life and death.. thank god.
But it is highly highly irritating to have hundreds, if not thousands of dollars into these toys, and our parade is being rain upon...

Ummm, we ran a check yesterday, and our failure rate on the V2 is pretty normal for a new product. In fact, the Mamba Max had almost double the failure rate in early runs as the MMM.

This is for two reasons -- first, people are using setups that aren't right -- and are damaging motors and ESCs because they don't know yet what combos actually work right (we have seen many of these at tech support here.) Second reason is that there are higher failure rates on products early from just manufacturing defects -- we tend to have a few more failures early on 'cause we don't yet know what to look for when looking for common defects (every product has something...)

Also, please note we have built ALREADY six times more V2 MMM than V1 MMM.... (almost 3000 have shipped already) So there is going to be a LOT more reports of issues, just from the sheer numbers.

Patrick

entjoles 08.27.2008 04:20 PM

mine should have gotten there today , or tommorow , hope its not major and i see it again soon:whip:

keep up the good work guys , although its a bummer , once the issues are worked out i trust we will all get many hours of enjoyment out of our rc's

any chance that the castle motors will be available sooner then expected?

entjoles 08.27.2008 04:27 PM

also if this is set-up related will you lmk?

Arct1k 08.27.2008 04:29 PM

 Did you get the 6.5mm bullets in this week? I was wondering if you'd had a chance to get that parcel out to me?
