We have these - no problem to carry the Tekin capacitors as well. Ours are 35volt, 1200uF caps and are available with or without the soldered wire leads. :)

Is 1200uf enough Mike , i'm guessing yes ?

Like i said i got a 2700uf cap with my R1 but have spare 1000uf caps , but i thought 1000uf is not enough so i would have to run two in parallel ?

suicideneil 09.05.2008 01:14 PM

2 in parallel should be fine- most other escs tend to have caps totally about 2000-3000uf (hvmaxx uses a 2700uf item I believe).

Kajman 09.07.2008 05:39 AM

Is there any info in numbers abour R1 how much power can it stand on 5S? It should work with 6s a123 then?

DRIFT_BUGGY 09.11.2008 04:11 AM

Im surprised there hasn't been a photo of the rx8 out yet

Kajman 09.11.2008 04:55 AM

Yeah, I think I will not buy new MGM or MMM and wait till Tekin does his homework, hope till january it will be done?

Yeah, was hoping it would be out sooner. Less than 4 months till Christmas though. Would make a great Christmas Present

gixxer 09.11.2008 11:46 AM

Wow its been a long time since I posed this topic. Anyways I will agree it would make a nice x-mas present.

Hopefully it will be out by the end of the year. That way I could get one and get another 8th scale buggy.

Kajman 09.13.2008 11:51 AM

Yeah, I hope guys won't surprise me and current limiter will be onboard? That is main reason I want it (apart from that it's Tekin ;) )

molak 10.08.2008 02:08 AM

C´mon tekin!
On november 17 is my birthday... A tekin rx8 would be a nice present!!

Geogenesis13 10.10.2008 08:27 AM

or tekin can..................no wait never mind yeah release it at least next month or this month please:yes::yes::yes: as well this thread could be made into a review thread for the rx8 since it has been here for a long while

I say that Tekin is one of the best companies around and they've been so silent about the RX8, because they won't cause any disapointment to us.

I'll put it in the dark until it's out.

FYI, I've fried my R1Pro pretty badly:

Kajman 10.12.2008 08:26 AM

how did you do it?

DRIFT_BUGGY 10.12.2008 06:14 PM

What was the ESC in?

gixxer 10.12.2008 09:43 PM

That looks familar. I fried my rs yesterday but not nearly that bad. On mine I am not sure if a wire came off and cause a short or what. Just know after the smoke the - soldiering post was no longer attached to the board.

Mine was in a 2wd 10th scale buggy on 2s though. That is probably why mine doesn't look nearly as bad. Case is still intact.

Anyways I emailed Tekin today and will say what they say about a repair.

DRIFT_BUGGY 10.28.2008 04:03 AM

Anyone talk to Tekin about the RX8 at ihobby?

How'd you do that? High voltage and amps?

captain harlock 10.30.2008 10:35 AM

Yeah.

A Neu 1512 (4875 kv/v).

4s 4320mah flightpower.

CC BEC.

Novak capacitor.

gtxracer 10.30.2008 01:26 PM

Which cap were you using? Was it in a cool spot? Some guys are running cooler temps on 5s, maybe that has something to do with it.

captain harlock 10.30.2008 02:06 PM

I think a 2700uf, 25v cap.

captain harlock 10.30.2008 02:08 PM

Drift Buggy! An RX8!!! Nice find man!

suicideneil 10.30.2008 03:38 PM

Aye, finally, we get a glimpse of the fabled esc....

DRIFT_BUGGY 10.31.2008 05:42 AM

Another shot of the ESC

brushlessboy16 10.31.2008 07:53 AM

Is it a good thing or a bad thing that is doesnt have any capacitors built in?

I can't beleive you missed the 3 little silve colored caps facing down on the picture above.

o0oooo, those look like weaksauce, they are puny compared to the MMM, any specific reason for small caps?

Maybe Tekin thinks that's enough for their ESC.

Chapito 10.31.2008 05:33 PM

I've done the double-take twice now.......Am I reading and seeing correctly that the RX8 will be sensored? If so, Bummer; I really thought I'd end up owning one.

captain harlock 10.31.2008 05:37 PM

It could be possible that the RX8 will work as both a sensored and sensorless esc.

Exactly, it'll have the hybrid technology.

gixxer 10.31.2008 09:11 PM

thats another reason why I plan on buying one for my revo or 8th scale buggy. I have 2 of there rs's right now and prefer it over my lrp comp or novak gtb's that I use to run.

DRIFT_BUGGY 11.02.2008 01:55 AM

Randy Pike says that the RX8 isn't to far away and to get your 1/8's ready  :yipi: :diablo:

jhautz 11.03.2008 01:20 AM

They are ready....

What does "isn't to far" mean? Days... weeks....months...? Last I heard they were talking early 09. A xmas present would be nice though. :mdr:

DRIFT_BUGGY 11.03.2008 01:45 AM

They wont say exactually. They have stopped work and every thing else and are now 100% concentrated on getting the RX8 into production and we better have out 1/8's ready

gixxer 11.03.2008 11:21 PM

That is good news. Then I can have a tekin in my revo to go along with the one in my rb5 and zx-5. I do hope they allow us to change the timing on the esc itself and not need a hotwire. I already have one but really the timing is the only thing I use it for.

Just because sensored hasn't worked out well with conversions (so far) doesn't mean it will NEVER work. Sensored smoothness for my big MT and 1/8 truggy sounds very intriguing to me.

You are not reading right. It will have sensored and sensorless support, much like a traxxas vxl esc.

jhautz 11.06.2008 03:52 PM

Yea. Its like the the Tekin RS 1/10 product. it will run any motor, sensored or sensorless. If you want to run a standard 1/8 unsensored motor then you just dont use the sensor wires. I personally like the flexability it offers. A bit of nice forward thinking IMO.

lutach 11.06.2008 04:46 PM

So we all seem to like the Hybrid technology. I hope to see more companies with it.

BlackedOutREVO 11.06.2008 07:06 PM

Hybrid is sweet. I want to see a 6s or something HV sensored

Especially the Tekin hybrid mode, starting up in sensored, and swapping to sensorless once its going
