Turn all of "BATCH 2" MMM up to 6v??
Why not?
I am in batch 2 and I would like 6v rather than 5.5. If we all agree might we have all of batch 2 turned up to 6v? What does everyone think? |

I would just hate to wait for the v2 of the MMM to come out only to send it back for the 6v mod .....

Be good if all the ones getting returned to CC of problems get turned up to 6V aswell

I am also in the second batch. I wouldn't mind having it changed to 6v. But if it wasn't changed, it wouldn't bother me either. I use a 5955 servo (333oz-in at 6v) so I would care if it ran off 5.5v. It is only a little less torque...

thats a good plan, I sent mine in to be fixed and was going to give them a check for $45 or whatever it was for 6v mod, and figured forget it, I just want it fixed. I didnt get it fixed and have nothing till possibly end of June who knows maybe later. I think making it 6v for free wouldnt be unreasonable for the delay and hassle. What do ya say Joe ? Ya with me Patrick ? :whistle: feh.. at this point id take my smoked MMM back just so i have something to look at for $152. 9 days and im losing it <twitch> :lol:

I wouldn't mind a free 6v upgrade for the hassle of sending in the MMM after only 5 minutes running it!

honestly my servos performed better on the 5.5v of the MMM then they did on a receiver pack so I'm happy.

I think the free upgrade to 6 or 7v would not be too much to ask. Castle has thousands of our dollars and we have no ESC's to show for it. It would be a nice gesture on their part.

think about it guys... why would they use a random voltage like 5.5v then charge pple to up it? there MUST be a functional reason for this, and it obviously worked better for them to set it at 5.5v
with the 5955tg in a buggy, ill be fine on anything more than 2v lol. |

I personally cant even tell the differeance between when I ran 6v on the CCBEC and the 5.5v in the MMM. If I dont notice it, I dont care. If they would have never told me it was 5.5v I would have gone on my merry way thinking it was 6v and never know differently.

I'm generally not a complainer, but I was really expecting the CCBEC to be integrated into the MMM when they were talking about the MMM having a switching BEC - so for that I am dissappointed. I've yet to see a piece of RC hardware that can't handle a full 6V.
Yet I do understand that the BEC also drives the internal circuitry of the MMM so they don't want someone cranking up the voltage and frying the ESC circuits. Of course there is a BUT to that as well, they could've just thrown a 5V zener diode on the feed to their circuitry to regulate their circuits at 5V and still allowed the user a BEC range of say 5V - 7.5V Either way, like Jeff said, I can't fell the difference either way (just the gnawing thought in the back of my head that it's not a full 6V). I feel lucky to have just gotten 2 MMM's from the first batch that appear to be running properly and have not died after 2-3 runs on 5s and 6S pushing between 400 and 1500 watts. |
Guys we've discussed doing 6v upgrades for $25. If the controller has an issue though, you have to pay another $25 to get it working if it's the BEC, flat rate repair fee if the controller goes. This would be considered a modification to the controller.
