I heard about this.
Very simple to do, yet the result looks highly convincing- $10 says traxxas releases an RTR version rather like this, and calls it their 1/8 buggy... |
I have seen it (I am a mod at URC, after all), and it's definitely a great project idea. Just wish I had more time to pursue it...

yucky maxamps :P
looks great at first glance it fooled me :D |
Wow. I have never run on a course like that, so it may be nothing to those that have, but that seemed like some serious air!
|
Saw that on Traxxas Forum. Done pretty well and doesn't seem to be much to it
|
just simple bolt up stuff, i have that exact body and im test fitting it on mine and it doesnt fit just perfect, i think some trimming to the chassis is needed, i dont think it woulod weaken the chassis any since there really isnt anything mounts out on the mud flaps on mine, too bad my body i have here is beat to hell, if i like it ill buy a new body for it. ill post some pics later

yea they could make a better fitting body to mold to the chassis lines, use the Jconcepts j82 front tires, have it come with the vxl system , and some big ole flat back tires and walla kickass 1/8 scale 2wd brushless buggy.
im having clearance issues with the big komodo LPs on the front, but my wheels are only half offset and not FULL offset like his. i may pick up some j82 fronts and use the stock 12mm hex with kyosho wheels, and keep the big rear tires. |
Very cool.I wonder how it'd look with some 2.2s.
|
Full offset wheels do look necessary. What adapters are you using Ross? I thought the new era widened the track quite a bit. Anychance of a pic of the half offset wheels installed?
I got bored and tried a few 14 and 17mm hex wheels on the front of my slash. I have a set of the maxmizer 14mm hexes for the wheely king that work perfectly with a rustler. I also have the GS racing shims that go from 14mm to 17mm (imagine a 17mm hex with a 14mm hex hole inside it). Since the track widths are different front to rear, would it work better with full offset wheels on the front and half offset wheels on the back? Also, I know it is OFNA that makes the wheels, any chance of a link to the half and full offset wheels? I got mine used, so I have no idea where to get them... On a side note, the slash looked really funny with 40 series bowties on it... The amazing thing is that they fit quite well! Not much of the chassis would need to be clearanced. Completely pointless though... |
These look to be the half offset that fit the komodo tires:

here ya go linc, i dont even think his has no clearance issues, i am using the new era adapters an d dont add any width, and yes linc i do know what your talking about my GS had them, and the komodo fit standard 3.2 inch wheels
ill whip out an aluminum front bumper and front body mount during class today also |
Pretty cool. Body needs a paint job though! As if you didn't know that already...
