Savage Idea?

Hey guys, is it possible for me to run TWO bl motors in between my TVP? i was thinking two motors, smaller than the 7XL, and i would preferabbly liek to keep the ESC i have now, it is the 21020. ANY help is appreciated, i do not need to complete this conversion untill november of next year, i was thinking going with the same motor mount i have now just adjust it accordingly. and how do you hoow two motors up to one ESC?

Right now i have deans on my setup, one on each pair of ESC wires, and one on each motor wire, would i just connect two motor wires together?

Anyways, this was just an idea i got well sitting at the computer. Then i would definatley need to switch the lipos as well. The weight would be insane

Why not just stick with a 7XL? Dual motors will be heavier, less efficient, more expensive, and require more batteries than a single motor. For the same price of dual brushless systems, you could get something huge, like a Lehner 2240! Also, with a single controller running dual motors, it may work, but it is best to use dual controllers.

i want something bigger, it needs to go faster.

MetalMan 11.22.2005 09:50 PM

A Lehner 2240 is a rather big motor :). The 2250 is about the size of a coke can (or is that a different Lehner motor?). The Lehner motors have segmented magnets, which makes them run cooler. Also, these motors are rated for extreme amounts of power. I think the limiting factor for your Savage would be the drivetrain.

i will upgrade if it means more power, i am a speed and torque freak. all i need to figure out is how to lock my 2 speed i n2nd

what about something like a 9xl?

MetalMan 11.22.2005 10:23 PM

9XL on lots of cells (18-20) will provide plenty of power. Should be more than enough to shred some diff teeth.

E-Traxxer 11.22.2005 10:28 PM

How many cells are you running on? If you run on 12 cells, a 6 or 7xl will give you the max power (for the feigao motors) You can always get more power by running more cells (lipoly maybe? It won't cost too much more than dual brushless to convert) and a higher wind motor to handle the power. Getting one of the large LMT lehner motors would also push the truck pretty fast, although I don't know if you could fit it (lengthwise) in your savage.

I have 18 cells at the moment, thinking of going to lipo though

E-Traxxer 11.22.2005 10:40 PM

Hmm.. If you want more power than that you might have to get an LMT Lehner motor unless you want to spend $450 on a new controller to handle more cells. Before you buy one (if you do) make sure that it will fit (lengthwise) because I have seen one in person and they are BIG.

7XL and 18 cells isn't that much is it? why not an 9xl or 10xl on 18 cells?

MetalMan 11.22.2005 10:48 PM

8XL on 18cells would be awesome. 9XL would give comparable power.

E-Traxxer 11.22.2005 10:50 PM

A 9 or 10XL on the same cell count shouldn't be as powerful, although it wont heat up as much, and you'll get longer runtimes.

Serum 11.23.2005 06:06 AM

you said it yourself. Heat is loss. it is about the power the batteries can deliver. With these motors this close in kv rating, it is about the most efficient setup.

I am going to build up a 9XL on 20 cells before i step up to the 2240/2250

what would a 9xl be like on lipo?
