extreme cogging!!!!

my sidewinde 4600 it cogging alot all of a sudden if was runing great before I'm running promatch ener-g 4600mah batteries so it's not my battery so could it just be my motor? or what should I do?

Sammus 03.20.2009 10:46 PM

Does it move it all? if it just sits there and cogs without moving its usually one of the motor wires has come loose.

brandonj 03.20.2009 10:47 PM

it will barly move but I'll have it WOT and all of the motor wires are good

magman 03.20.2009 10:48 PM

check all of your solder connections

BrianG 03.20.2009 10:50 PM

When it was running, did the motor ever get really hot? I mean something around 200*F or more...

brandonj 03.20.2009 10:56 PM

never got that hot but it get to about 115 which is pretty hot considering it used to a like 95

magman 03.20.2009 10:58 PM

115 is not that hot...I would check and recheck all solder connections. If a connection loosens up, it will put strain on the motor/esc.

BrianG 03.20.2009 10:59 PM

Yeah, it does sound like a connection issue to me too...

brandonj 03.20.2009 11:07 PM

F sorry about tht

magman 03.20.2009 11:09 PM

My daughter's crt.5's motor and esc were steaming hot recently...upon inspection, the neg. wire on the esc deans had all but come off and only a minute amount was still on straining the components.

Fully charge the pack and make sure it is taking a full charge. If you have a dead cell in the pack that could cause it. A bad connection between the cells can do it as well. Plug into the computer and re-flash the software on the ESC, then re-calibrate the ESC to your radio (full throttle, full brake, neutral...in the manual). Unplug all the motor to ESC connections, and see if any of them are easy to pull apart. If one is, put something into the end of the connector and spread the legs apart a little. Also, try another battery.

I have had about 10 or more promatch packs. They are great batteries BUT you have to put alot more shoe goo in between the cells or hard bumps will cause the solder joints to crack(EVERY PM PACK I HAVE OWNED DID THIS) Once I shoe gooed them and added alittle more solder to the joints they gave me years of worry free performance

brandonj 03.21.2009 02:12 PM

well I checked the solder connection but it looked ok, so I'll resolder it in a little. but what else could it be? also my cells were in a stick pack with end bars and shrink wrap

I believe you have upset the RC gods and your only option is to present a 13 yr old virgin for sacrifice
