The New and Improved MRC Thunder King Evolution part 2
OK well I completely rebuilt it all and last time withe the Novak 6.5 and some here and theres I weighed in at an outstanding 14 lbs. Well this time, I am happy to say with the Tekin RX8 2250 system making its new home and some adjustments. I now weigh in at 8.6 Lbs. I have no idea how I did it!? But all is good now. Now you would think that i would paint my own shell on this, Well I have a friend whom is also a painter and now that I have a new race theme this year. He is going to bust me out some justice. So here it is so far.

Wow :surprised:
Your work always astounds me. Your wiring is so... clean. wow. |
still a great looking truck 3six
|
Sweet man... A very clean and nicely laid out truck.
|
man I hope that tranny handles the power, because that thing looks awesome. Video!
|
Oh. My. God.
Thats awesome! |
Definitely very cool. Those arms must have been hard to find, the truck itself is rare enough.

B E A utiful.
What is that white thing underneath the ESC? looks like foam? One tiny suggestion, the blue wire between the ESC and motor should be white, I think it goes better with the truck than blue. Since I see you've managed the colors SOOO nicely. And I second that "Video!" ;) |
Tranny will handle just fine. All steel gears thanks to RC4WD
The white thing under the carbon fiber is YES white foam. Keeps the batteries in place. I thought there were battery trays in the store? was thinking about placing those in. And yes I wish I could find a piece of 12 aug white wire to replace that. Video will come in a couple of weeks or so. getting the shell painted and ordered a bigger pinion from RRP. |
I already commented on this on another site, but god damn....
I am still in awe. I want to hug it. How much to hug it? |
Kickin my self in the ass now. Just ordered some pinions from RRP when i could of purchased them here. That will serve me right.

OK, well I have some excellent news for all those looking to rejuvinate thier MRC thunder kings/Baja kings and this will allow you to build this truck just like I have it now.
For the A Arms all you need is stock or aluminum HPI savage arms and a dremmel. I little shaving here and there and you good to go. For the knuckles and carriers, again all Savage. The reason for the savage was simple. plenty of parts available and a proven design that works. Now the gears can be purchased and they are all steel not aluminum from RC4WD here is the link. Excellent price for a great product that will take a beating and allow you to use brushless set up. http://www.rc4wdstore.com/2/product_...roducts_id=398 Now I just got off the phone with MiP and they are going to make the Dog bones for this that will allow you to use the Savage drive cups on one end and the MRC trans outputs on the other. They will be 144mm in length which is the perfect size when building the truck like I did and they will be 5mm thick. Now I dont know when they will be ready, but once I get them i'll post it up. after that I think they will be availabe only by calling them personally. Now one the issue of the Bulkheads. I contacted a buddy of mine at DNA-rc.com they do rock crawlers. They have thier own machine shop and do alot of delrin products. Though I dont have a price as of yet or a definative yes we can do them. I am sending a brand new bulkhead for them to see if they are able to make a stronger design as well as I will send the rear A arms mounts too. It looks very promising and possible at this point and will allow anyone whom owns an MRC thunder king/Baja king to build thier truck to be the same as mine and virtually indestructable. Right now my build is pretty complete and solid, and like I said years and years of trying this and doing that has seemd to proven its self faithful and worthy. My only sadness is that its not 4WD but then again I am still kicking A$$ on the Flux and E Revo's and I now weigh in at 8.6 Lbs. and am completly centered with the batteries installed. Here are some of the latest pics, still waiting for my shell to get done before I shoot some vids. http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/i...C/IMG_0750.jpg http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/i...C/IMG_0751.jpg |
Sweeeeet.
|
Great to know about the savage parts. Truck looks killer as usual.
|
Very nice! Seems like it would handle really well for being 2wd.
