I also finished the motor mount and welded the sprocket onto the rear wheel, but I'll get those pics later today.

Nice...what is your power plant? Did you do the welding your self? Mig or Tig

BL_RV0 06.29.2009 05:20 PM

Powerplant is a 25cc weedwacker engine. Yes I do all the welding. Mig welding.

magman 06.29.2009 06:38 PM

Excellent...I've been welding mig/ stick and an even smaller am't of tig for the past 9yrs. What are you using for a welder.....just curious:mdr:

Interested to see how it turns out. What did you start with, and are you modifying the wheelbase?

I started with a 150w electric pocket bike= slow. WB will stay the same.

Looks like it has some righteous ground clearance. Should be fun!

lincpimp 06.30.2009 12:42 AM

Ian is a dork!!!! A electric to gas conversion on a predominantly electric forum!

J/K dude, looks like a fun project, and you actually posted some interesting pics and info, I am so proud of you. Maye you will not be a post whore forever...

johnrobholmes 06.30.2009 12:46 AM

I wouldn't want much more power on that bike anyway, unless you wanted to throw this on http://www.astroflight.com/index.php...roducts_id=123

BL_RV0 06.30.2009 11:20 AM

Hehe, thanks guys! I am a dork... I forgot to get pics of the motor mount! I will get the pics on saturday along with many other parts... I have to make 2 sprockets though- need a 16mm bore 7t and a 5/8" bore 7t. Smallest I have are 13 and 17t which won't give me the reduction I need.

Hmm, I think a Brigg & stratton 3.5 or 5hp would fit just nicely in there and provide big power!

I have a mini-bike that has a 5hp crammed in the frame. It would push my big self to 38mph, and 45mph if I messed with the governor...

BL_RV0 06.30.2009 11:42 AM

I also have a 5.5hp minibike but it won't get my 100lb self past 25 or so. I'm thinking of electrifying it- if I decide to do that I'll just take the governour off and have some fun!

It's this one:

I can just see you beefcaking it on a mini bike... Thanks for the laugh...

nitrostarter 06.30.2009 11:46 AM

Really? Hows it geared? Torque-converter? What motor?

My 5hp briggs is a beast. I run it with just a clutch, and open headers exhaust(custom adaptor machine to snuggly fit the a 18" chrome vacuum cleaner handle for the tip.) Its all flat black with the chrome exhaust.

BL_RV0 06.30.2009 11:48 AM

Yes really. Geared gaily. I think it's just the motor though- it has like no torque. No torqueaverter. It's a jiangdong (lol) 5.5hp motor, basically a crappy honda copy. I have a 5hp briggs brand new sitting around, but I'm not going to put it in the minibike because the bike it too crappy to make it worth while.
