Alternative shocks for Savage Flux HP
 

Hi,

found that CEN Genesis/Nemesis/GST 7.7 Shocks are direct fit in Savage Flux HP. It become lower and get more stability on hard surface but then is not suitable for bigger jumps. Maybe someone knows some shocks in the middle of original big bore and CEN?

Another +1 for the LST shocks.

My extended Savage has LST shocks with the fluorescent yellow springs and they perform beautifully. I too would recommend them.

LST can most easily found on ebay. Most stores are pricey. Just search for LST shocks and just fish for a good deal when it comes up.


It looks like there are Losi Raminator/Aftershock shocks that work also. They are nice as plastic (less weight) but are threaded so you don't need silly shock spacers. I may have gotten these at the time instead had they been avail, but then again the alu LST shocks are awesome as well. G/l

I've been planning on going with the LST shocks on mine also, but based on the above, are the FLM mounts a requirment to mount these shocks, or are those just to add more "beef" to the system?

Also... RC Raven has some good dual rate springs for the LST shocks that work really well as well. The std silver strings that come w/ the LST are a bit light IMO. I had blacks when the Sav was nitro, but now as BL its a bit heavier and needs a yellow rate spring. The RC Raven springs are all the same rate regardless of color.

You can actually mount them either way and they give a bit different feel. I've been playing w/ them like this and I think I like it a bit better. :)



The FLM mounts do require the FLM towers (which are nice)

There is some other kit that uses an adapter bar to mount onto the stock shock towers, but I can't recall the name ATM. Either one works, but I really like the FLM towers for coolness and beefiness. Plus they have a wing mount also if you ever want one.

In the past I tried out a set of Muggy shocks, but was horrified to find out how not-smooth they were. I immediately ordered the hard anodized thread bodies for them and couldn't be happier. And BTW, two vehicles of mine have LST shocks on them, so that's a testament to their smoothness :party:

N/m then :) I had a pair of muggy shocks and they seemed ok, but I did not have the muggy very long. The LST shocks do work well.

The muggy shocks are identical to the aftershock plastic body shocks, save for having a shorter shock shaft. i have not noticed my muggy shocks to be anything but smooth. Same with the aftershock units, no less smooth than the al bodies lst shocks I have.

The aftershock plastic body shocks are considerably lighter than the lst al units, just something to think about. I have broken the plastic shock bodies (in a crash that would have destroyed a maxx/revo so it was a very hard hit) but I have only done that once.

Lst shocks are about the best MT shock I have used, and they can handle large wheels, tires, etc. Best to leave them on the lst and just convert it, I prefer that truck over the savage.

You can usually find the aftershock/ramminator shocks on ebay for about 20 bucks a pair.

The black springs that come with them are good for a medium weight setup, or a lighter setup with heavy tires. My lst has them and with a 1521 and 6s lipo they can handle 50+mph with a variety of tires, from std badlands to the big/heavy lst2 atx tires. The heavier springs are a good upgeade if your savvy is getting heavy, but i would try the stock black springs first. Lots of spring info for these shocks on the lstforums.
