ever heard about arc motors?

by accident I have found these motors. they have a 75 4 pole moztor with 1680 kv

Looks sorta like Medusa style, except for the wire exit and the front endplate is pressed. Their 4 pole, but are they slotted or slotless stator? Didn't see any specs on them. You should try one out and let us know how they compare power/temp wise to a similar Medusa.

what I've found out is that arc is also a big maufacturer for industrial brusless motors. just like aveox (where Mr. Neu used to work).
so far I didn't find any specs on that motors.

Looks identical to the ones that come with the hobbywing systems, and also the motors sold by redflag rc (ebay shop)....

Those are nice little motors made in China by the company I'll be contacting to make a 4 pole sensored 540 motor. They have various sizes.

I thought the hw's were 2 pole?

These are 4 pole Neil and made by a different company. The rotor is nicely wrapped and they are well known in hot little EDF planes.

They offer a discounted esc with a motor purchase, but strange choice of wording here:

"Only 1 ESC per motor to be selected from this page. If a discounted ESC is purchased without a motor, your order will be sent without the ESC and the price of the ESC will be refunded to you."

Does this mean they will send an empty box? :whistle::rofl:

Ok, just "bit the bullet" and purchased a 36-75-1 motor rated at 1680kv. Will use my muggy to test this thing out on 6s (figure that's a pretty stout testing platform) and report when I'm done.

So, hopefully these will turn out to be the new Medusa, low cost alternative to Neus... :smile:

I would be concerned that since the are optimized for EDF use that in car/truck applications they will run rather hot. Having all of those holes and thinking of it sitting in a wind tunnel effectively in an EDF airplane leads me to believe this.

I will be curious to see the report back from the motor in a muggy.

:lol: I know. If you guys look in the rcgroups threads, I've mentioned something there about using the motor for car use and there were some doubts from the owner. I got to wait for and answer from the place that makes the motors to see if they can do one that can be rebuildable. Good thing one person here will try one out :lol:.

well, the medusas have been used a lot in planes, too, before the became popular for cars, as far as I remember. and surprise - no problem.
when these motors /the 75-55-1/ works on 8s in a plane, 6s in a truggy should be ok. sure, you can't get the same cooling in the car like in a plane...

the efficiency seems to be good, the 55 at least seems to be better then the hxt quannum, which is no bad motor at all.
here in germany there have been successful tests with a quannum for offroad-use and a mega as well. so I don't know why there should be a problem. the more poles, the better for partial load, wich is typical for cars.

Did you see my video runnung the longer Qannum motor? The rotor exploded lol. The problem the Dave said is with the load when the vehicle jumps. I told him RC-Monster makes a nice heat sink/clmap system and he agreed it's the only way to go. So I've been waiting for someone to get one and try it in a vehicle :lol:. I'll be checking for the results.
