XXL w/the 1717
Received my 5mm rotor last week and got around to doing the install last night and today. I drilled the 3mm Dude mount out to 11/64 and the motor bolted right up no probs. My diffs were recently rebuilt with Nova cups and Muggy gearing so I need to crack them back open and swap out the ring and pinion back to LST. I replacd the gear that gets the most punishment in the tranny and did the gear swap for the higher final ratio while I was in there.
Heres the export Differential Ratio: 3.3076923076923075 Transmission Ratio: 1.9130434782608696 Other Ratio: 1 Spur Tooth Count: 64 Pinion Tooth Count: 25 Total Voltage: 18.5 Motor KV: 1580 Tire Diameter (inches): 6.90 Tire Ballooning (inches): 0.20 Motor Current Draw: 0 Motor Coil Resistance: 0 Spur/Pinion Ratio: 2.56 : 1 Total Ratio: 16.19906 : 1 Tire Circumference (inches): 22.93 inches (582.51 mm) Rollout: 1.42:1 Total Motor Speed: 29230 RPM Vehicle Speed: 39.19 mph (62.95 km/h) Effective KV Value: 1580 KT constant: 0.86 oz-in/A Motor Torque: Amperage not specified... After I rebuild the diffs, seal the where the wires come out the can and get the tires mounted I bought from Nitrostarter (Thanks Cory !) I will post more with pictures and test results. http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...S/P4240018.jpg http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...S/P4240019.jpg http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...S/P4240020.jpg |
Nice! But that motor is BEGGING for some 6s action!! The 1521/1Y LOVED 6s and was a monster!
|
That setup looks AWESOME!
Good Job Bondo! Let us know how it performs. |
Oh I hear ya for sure !
But I have to wait till next month befor I spend any more money, I have almost $70.00 in bonus bucks at Hobby City and I'll be ordering a couple 4000mah 40C jobbers ! |
The 35C 5000's I had were great! Definitely not lacking in the power range. I'm sure I could have pushed the LST much harder if I wanted to.
|
That motor and gearing I imagine it will be a real stump puller -whip it good :whip::mdr:
|
Well I just bought the (2) 3300mah 30C 6s packs for $120.00 delivered from California from "HobbyPartz.com". I never bought from there so we'll see what they will look like ?
Hobby City is cleaned out of 6s packs from 30C and higher, slim pickings and I decided I want packs now not in 2 weeks. I wanted smaller lighter packs to help keep weight down since the motor is so dam big and heavy, hopefully the 30C will be enough for it's demands ????????? With 6s I'll also be opening my gearing options a little more. |
sweet truck! and that is one big mo mo! like the flat on one side and the rear exit wires. are they soft? or is it the hard drawn coil wires like on the neus? hobbycity is a little slow on the shipping but good stuff. they have some more of the 6s 3600 30c i use for big track runnin. kinda heavy 575g but not bad, under 600g unlike most 2x2s setups
|
The wires aren't quit as stiff as the NEU wires but certainly not very pliable either.
|
What are "Nova cups"? I havent seen aftermarket cups for these anywhere.
Just curious, but why are you going back to the LST gearing - isn't that going to give you less choice on your spur/pinion? |

The nova cups are ok, but i had clearance issues in my muggy using them as center diff with aluminum diff mounts. I prefer the Innovative-rc cups, better clearance since they have a raised end where the nova's are flat.

That truck's gonna rip some tar!
Looks good Bro  |

Everything is all together and ready for testing. I did the 4mm hardware shock mod and I've reinstalled the LST diff gears and changed my viscositys to a lighter weight. I was running 50,000 and was breaking the pins under the sun gear pretty frequently and thought maybe a lighter fluid will let the other tire unload rather than grip and snap ? So I'm trying 15,000 for giggles ? Have the tires mounted up and will finish glueing and balancing tomorrow, I have to solder on the EC5 plugs to the ESC and my 5s packs then test with a5s pack and 2-3s in series and see what happens ??? 6s packs in route. LST sneakers, nylon taped and mounted up to a set of (NOT DYED) 23mm PL Wabash rims w/1/2" off set. http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...S/P4270022.jpg |
Those look great! Thats such a great off road tire as well! TONS of grip!
I think 6s will really be the sweet spot on this motor. Just a little low on the RPMs on 5s for my liking. I know you have plenty of 5s packs tho... |
