E10 - Drift
 

I picked up an E10 for 25 bucks off Craigslist. Never realized how freaking cheaply made this guy was made.

I am going to bring it to the office, and it will pretty much be the lunch toy.

I tore it down, and there is a lot of plastic on the thing. From drive shafts to well everything.

I tossed the motor esc rx and so forth. I got an order placed with Amain for a servo mount from xray and a cheap 10 dollar servo for the thing.

I plan to get one of those dirt cheap leopard combos for it as well as one of those 20 dollar 2.4 radios.

After that I think I will see if the thing can take more power on plastic driveline, otherwise I think I will go with some of the limited aluminum parts for it.

I am hoping to keep this as close to the hundred dollar range as possible. I have a feeling though that I will be needing some drivline upgrades when transferring to brushless.

what's an E10? Manufacturer?

if it's 1/10 the castle sct esc and motor would work well and be worth having around.... the leopards a throwaway.... I do appreciate a cheap build though

E10 = HPI's super-entry-level 1:10 touring chassis. I haven't heard many good things about it, but hey can't really go wrong for $25.

No kidding, and to think they charge almost 200 for a new one. I think, according to the last time I saw one on a website.

The other drifter I have is one of those Excede's from NitroRCX and it is a much better car than this thing.

Oh well, it is cheap, so I will stay cheap until I break something, which even with a cheap Leopard set up I feel will happen, seeing as all drive line parts are plastic.

I just hope to have an inexpensive toy to play with in the back warehouse when bored on lunc break. If I want something fun I'll bring in the slash and make a jump with a sheet of plywood.

I think the initial purchase price was more for the Shell than anything else. The Steering set up in these is crazy as well. Next to this a TT01 is a world beater!

True though the prior owner cut the front lights up to try and put in leds the lid is the best part, that and the wheels.

Got the servo in. The arm was almost the same price as the servo. It is rated for almost 100 pounds at .14 speed. Not bad for 10 bucks off amain. I mounted it using a team xray angled servo mount.

Total thus far is 45.

I think the motor esc combo and the radio will put it over the 100 marker, but not by much.

I have to say i had great success with my tt01. Got it over 75mph with bearings as the only upgrade over the stock kit parts. And i doubt the hpi is a durable...

seconded, lincpimp. The TT-01 is the best beginner chassis mainly because it's so durable. A friend of mine has accidentally driven his TT-01 into a (dry) storm drain at 40mph, it fell 15 feet and all we had to do was go down and get it, and he drove off with nothing broken.

can't wait to see the E10 up and running though. (:

75mph in a TT-01? What kind of motor/lipo/gearing did you have? with a velineon on 3s with biggest availible tamiya pinion I was around 50mph I guess. It was funny hearing the plastic driveshaft hitting the chassis and watching it bounce around on its friction (not oil filled) shocks though! :lol:

that steering is so ghetto. hpi done goofed.

im not saying tt01 are bad, i have had afew, im just saying they are very cheeply made.
