Brushless swap problem
So, for years, I've been running brushed in my 2wd buggies. I've been running pretty much nothing but 14x2 motors, and having no issues keeping up even with the 7.5s and 8.5s at the track. Car runs cool, runs fast, and needs a comm cut maybe every 10 to 14 race days with a cleaning here and there and the occasional brush swap. It's been dead nuts reliable.
Until now. Dropped a Tekin 13.5 into it that I got from a buddy, and as soon as the car was plugged in, it basically went FIZZZZZZZZZZ *smoke*. The motor only had 3 runs on it when it was put into the B4.1 FT in question, and it ran perfect when it was pulled from a buddy's RB5. Any ideas on what may have happened? Here are before swap and after swap pics. Hopefully you see something I don't. http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...4/SS851905.jpg http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...4/SS851946.jpg |
Looks like your using a brushed ESC to try and drive the brushless motor.
You need an ESC that's designed for brushless systems. |
thats just all wrong, is this for real?
|
If this is the same T-birdjunkie on rc tech forum, it's got to be a prank. With 22 posts, in the best place for brushless, you asked the wrong questions
|
No way this guy is serious. Anyone that has walked past a RC race track will know that you can't run a brushless motor with a brushed speedie. Prankster for sure.

http://www.correct.state.ak.us/corre...tOut_Large.jpg If this is you, then you definitely need to make a change - tell your barber you no longer want the "comm cut" and go for something else. And he's ripping you off if you have to go back every 2 weeks for a new cut. Another thing, when you say "a cleaning here and there" - the way most of us clean our hair is when we take a shower, is that what you're talking about? And the "occasional brush swap" - I'm not sure it this is coded language for something kinky or not, but I'll tell you that I've had the same hairbrush for the last twenty years or so - I think it's made of genuine horsehair - but let me say that you get what you pay for - so you need to invest in something that will last. Anyway, I hope this helps. |
You made it go POOF but you could've made it go faster by using 6s:angel:

Bruce750i says too high of C rating blows them every time.:oh:

Probably the headlight fluid. Either that, or double check the muffler bearings, ever time they make one revolution 1 ounce of grease should drip on the floor. Any less than that and they need a refill too.

Back when I got the speedo Novak specifically told me that it would run ANY motor I wanted as long as I was running less than 8 cells NiCd. Obviously we're two battery chemistries away from NiCd, but the input voltage is still far lower. |
in that case then it sounds like a warranty issue. Better call the motor and ESC manufacturer and explain exactly what is going on. I'm sure they will just hand the company over to you.
|
The ESC is 12 years old, I'm pretty sure there's no warranty on it:sarcastic:
|
what kind of CRAP manufacture is that?! not offering a 12 year warranty?! That's bullcrap!
|
Where did you get info on how to wire the brushless motor in?
|
12 years ago the only motors readily avilable were brushed motors.. you put a brushless motor on a brushed esc with absolutely no thought in what your wiring was..
This sums up what Im feeling http://images.cryhavok.org/d/16995-1...20Trolling.jpg |
