Used i pod ?.
I'm looking to get a used i pod for my early morning Training rides. What is a good price ?. I'm only looking for music capability no video needed. If possible i would like it to hold about 3 to 5 hours of music. Thanks mike
Also if you have a used one your looking to get rid of. I have some older rc stuff to offer in trade. |
Any particular reason for ipod specifically? There are tons of music players on the market that you can get new and aren't expensive.
Assuming mp3 format, 2MB/min quality (generous estimate), 5 hours requires less than 1GB of storage. Pretty much all devices have at least 2GB these days. If your ride is bumpy, I'd suggest something with flash-based memory rather than harddrive. Takes less battery power too. |

No particular reason. That was the only one i really new about. I would be looking for fairly good sound quality. Some times the ride gets bumpy but not real bad. This would be for my road bike. Any certain ones you would suggest ?. I'm not really tech savvy. So the easier to load music the better. ease of use is important as well. |
Haven't been in the market for a while, so not sure what's good/reliable, but a quick look at user reviews at walmart, bestbuy, etc should clue you in easily. They pretty much all load via usb and appear like an external drive to windows/mac/linux, so loading is drag n drop without software/drivers on any recent OS.
Since you only want music and may fall on the ground at some point, I wouldn't get any with a big fancy (and fragile) screen as long as you can see what's playing. |

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16855616109 I would like one were i could, with the push of a button change up music category's ( once set up), like 80's 90's 2000's & metal . That would make it much easier & safer on the bike. |
They're all much of a muchness really, if you just want basic functionality; I just bought some nasty little chinese thing for £12/$18 with a display and built-in FM tuner- it plays mp3 & wmv files just fine, uses a removable microSD 4GB card ( handy ), and gives 3-5 hours playback- plus it's tiny & light.
The trick for good sound quality is to replace the nasty included headphones with some decent ones- opinions vary depending on your price range, but the recommended ones I've looked at are: Sony MDR EX 300/500 ( or their newer 310/510 range ) Sennheiser Cx300 Soundmagic PL 30 I'm looking at getting some of the soundmagic PL30's myself as they are the cheapest whilst still offering great quality ( I'm tight  ). |
I use one of these Sansa Clip 4gb players - reasonable price, very small, built in clip on back, drop and drag files from your computer - and I've been happy with it. As Neil says, upgrade the headphones:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16855125128 I'll chime in, though, that listening to music while biking on road may not be the safest thing - I've been a runner for 20+ years and I won't listen to music when I'm running anywhere near cars. |

I personally think this would work well for you given your requirements.
Seriously though, something like this is what I was thinking about. Simple, cheap, decent reviews, plenty of storage, compact, etc. And about biking with a radio: I use a normal headset, but also have those little mirrors on the handlebars to see behind me... |
don't you carry a phone? any phone these days will do what you want.

Can i do that on i tunes ? . |
Probably not since IIRC only apple products work with iTunes. But iTunes is bloatware anyway; easier to just drag-n-drop files as needed.
