Bad, bad, bad transaction with Mattymaxx

I bought Mattymax's Thunder chassis and EXT suspension over a month ago. I paid for them on November 27, 2007 using my cc via Paypal. I have not received any items yet and probably will never be. I sent him numerous emails asking for the tracking number as he stated when he put up his ad here. He replied on Dec 7 stating that he will have to get the tracking number from his parents so he can give it to me. Well, he never did. I sent him two more emails asking for the tracking number but he never replied. Statring on December 24 -29, I emailed him daily asking for the same thing but failed to give it to me.

I was already mad for non-receipt of items so on Dec 30, I filed a dispute with Paypal for non-receipt of items. He emailed me this at 4:41 am (Japan time) December 29:

Hi Lito!
I have some good and bad news. I tried tracking it myself the other night, and it says number invalid when quite clearly it had been posted yonks ago. I went to my local postage place and asked them what the hell was going on, and my parcel came back to them due to it being damaged! It had been ripped open by something. So I took it next door to my mums business repackaged it all and have sent it out VIA the best service they have.
It has no been posted 100% assure you, you got me a little worried as I just got an email about a paypal dispute :-S?? Last few days I hav been having Christmas parties and stuff so haven’t been on PC. But I assure you I am not the sort of person to mess people about! Take our first deal and all the other deals I did with supermaxx parts, I am very genuine!
I will email the tracking number as soon as I get home from work! Remember im in England so time is different!
Please don’t loose faith im not a con artist or a fraud person im very genuine….Thanks.
Matthew.

I know a package won't be returned to the sender just because it was ripped open. However, it will be returned if the recipient refuses to accept it. But it never arrived here in Japan. If he truly repackaged and mailed it using the best service they have, he could have sent me the tracking number on his email instead of telling me, "I will email the tracking number as soon as I get home from work! So anyway, I waited for a day but the tracking number didn't come. I know he could be home already but I never recieved any. So I went to Paypal and replied to his email telling him I need the tracking number. Still no reply.

So i sent this email on Sun, Dec 30, 2007 08:30 AM Japan time, 1130 PM London time:

So, where is the tracking number? It's been over a day and probably by now you would had been home like you stated in your email. I'm waiting. Let me know before I upgrade my dispute to a claim so I can get my money back.

No reply to this email means you didn't really do anything and that means it will now be a claim.

Lito

I decided to escalate my dispute into a claim. My CC had been notified on December 27 and they are ready to help me recoup my money if Paypal fails to do so.

I received a message from Paypal saying that the seller gave them a tracking number. So I took the tracking number and inputted in the Royal mail track and trace program. Lo and behold, it was mailed on January 2, 2008. Like I said previously, it was not mailed before and if I did not file a claim, I would have kissed my money goodbye. He never intended to mail the items in the first place.

I hate being taken for a ride like this. I don't have a lot of money to spend. Military personnel like me don't make a lot of money like some of people do. I'm just a Sailor (U.S. Navy) forward-deployed here in Japan trying to build a supermaxx.

He does not post over at UE anymore. Sorry for the long-winded post.

Thanks for listening to my rant.

Lito

P.S.
I know this is my first post here but you can check this link: Bad BST transaction

thats cool, I was station on the U.S.S Samual B. Roberts FFG-58, part of the Roosevelt battlegroup, but that was back in 95, out of Norfolk VA, ever hear of the ship?

George16 01.07.2008 04:19 AM

I know that ship. I was stationed on one of the other frigate sin Mayport Florida from 2001-05. The Sammy B. was also stationed in Mayport at that time I was there and it's still stationed there too.

There are actually quite a few active, and retired military people around here. Including a few officers as well. Getting involved in the RC community is a great way to fill your idle time and stay out of trouble. It is much better than pooring your money down the drain on booze and cigarettes. I was on the USS John Hancock out of Mayport in 1995. I retired in 97 Chief Engineman (SW).

sjcrss 01.07.2008 08:22 AM

cool, so its in Mayport FL, wow.....i guess it sure does get around. At least it's still in commission...

George16 01.07.2008 08:58 AM

sjcrss, yes, the Roberts is still sommisioned. It's main purpose now is drug interdiction in Central and South America. I was fortunate to go to 2 of those deployments while staioned onboard the USS Boone.

Jerry, glad to know there are retired, active duty, and former military members here. Since I quit drinking and smoking years ago to do RC, my wife don't say anything on how spend money towards my trucks (actually mine and my 7-year-old son). You must be loving the retired life now :). I still have my house in Jacksonville so hopefully, it will still be there when I retire 3 1/2 years from now.

I have an emaxx but I tend to favor my nitro trucks more than the E. I stalled my plan on going brushless until I return to the US this November.

I went through something like this a couple months ago. Paypal advised me to open the package right at the post office and ask one of the workers to watch me. They also said record it all on video too if you can because for all you know it could be a box of rocks.

That's so true. Thanks for the heads-up.

JERRY2KONE 01.07.2008 05:44 PM

Sorry.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune George16 with the PayPal issue. It sounds just aweful, but it also sounds like this kid is learning a valuable lesson as well. I don't think he is intentionally trying to screw you on this. I think he is just a punk kid who has his values a bit out of wack. Good luck getting this resolved Man. I hope that it ends well for everyone involved.

Believe me being retired is sooooo cool. I still work, but not because I have to anymore. I work to keep busy and to pay for the toys and joys in our lives now. We have eight kids between us (4 boys & 4 girls), and the three youngest ones will be living with us very soon (9 "girl", 11, & 12 "boys"). The rest are grown now and on their own. The two younger boys are extremely interested in these trucks & have helicopters as well, and we hope to have a lot of fun with them.

I have had to steer clear of the nitro just because of all the moving about from country to country every two to three years, but trust me if you do get involved with the E-power that is out here now, you will have much more fun and less mess to worry about. HV brushless power with Lipo technology is so awsome and clean to work with. It is a joy just to work on these trucks, and I have four builds nearly finished right now for racing/bashing. All four of them are extended SuperMaxx projects with metal everything that I have pain stakingly researched, purchased, and built from scratch (piece by piece). Soon the play time will comense.:yipi:

sapper_triple6 01.07.2008 09:59 PM

Im retiring from the Army April 2nd. I fly home March 3rd. Not too bad for 26 Y/O. Too bad its because of medical reasons but oh well. I'll still be able to work and do what I like.

George16 01.16.2008 06:41 AM

Update, my cc just refunded my money today. Since I bought a set of front racerx arms and knuckles from Mavrick813, I decided I will just buy a rear racerx suspension upgrade kit as soon as Sam emails me what specific parts are included in the rear kit. In that way, I'll have racerx suspension on both my SM and predator.

So, for anyone that wants to deal with Mattymaxx, be careful. I'm done dealing with him. I got all my money back so I'm happy about that. To everyone who helped me by giving tips on how to get my money back, thank you very much. I'll just tell our post office (if the package ever arrives) to return it to the sender. I'm not even going to open it or do anything other than give it back to them.
