xtm xt2 brushless conversion

hey guys im thinking about getting a xt2 and converting it to brushless. reason for the xt2 is cause my friend has a rolling chassis he wants to sell me for cheap. and i have almost all the stuff to make it run.

just wanted to know what motor mount should i use. like do u think one of the rcm mounts would work on it.

jnev 02.11.2008 10:45 PM

I had the original Xterminator, and Mike made a motor mount and servo mount for it. If the center diff mounts/holes are the same dimensions on the XT2 as they are on the original Xterminator, then Mike should be able to make you one very easily, since he has the saved design of it.

drkros3 02.12.2008 12:44 AM

alright i well ask him if i get the buggy. but i was kinda thinking of just seeing if i can convert the center diff to a rc8 one and using the rc8 motor mount he already makes. sicne i work at hobbypoeple and we carry the rc8 parts it sould be pretty cheap.

jnev 02.12.2008 01:16 AM

As long as the distance between the mounting holes on the XT2 and the RC8 are the same it should work fine...

bigdaddy 06.05.2009 03:18 PM

Please let me know if that rc8 mount work for your xt2. I have the mammoth pro kit

johnnychaos 07.05.2009 10:13 AM

i have a xt2 brushless. its sweet. 2200kv mmm on 5s. used a kyosho rc-monster motor plate. no mods to the plate. just some spacers on the top of the stock front tranny bracket and some trimming on the bottom!!

the rc8 mount does not work!!!!!

n3sko21 07.08.2009 10:55 PM

sweet man!

i have an xt2 that i was going to sell cheap since i'm going to build a D8e as my main track car, but this is sick! it would make a good enough spare car!

what chasis are you using?? looks like you upgraded your shock towers as well?

johnnychaos 07.09.2009 04:04 AM

the shock towers and chashere alot strongersis are xtms "upgraded" parts. there alot stronger and hella cheap..... red tag at hobby people. i raced 2 rc8's and a sc8 and smoked all 3 of em. a friend drove it (racer 9) and he was shocked how well it did.... he told me i should race it..... it would hurt peoples feelings.

wow, you've inspired me to keep my xtm..i was going to go and splurge on an o'donnell z01-b since tower has easy pay on it, but this would make a perfect "Sleeper" as we say in the street racing world. lol, instead of wasting 500 bucks on the o'donnell i'll just upgrade some of my xtm parts and go brushless with it as well

also what is the part number on the chasis??

jperezo311 11.14.2009 09:26 PM

what pinion you using?

fastlane01 03.08.2010 07:17 PM

I need a mount that will allow me to run a clutch set up.

suicideneil 03.08.2010 08:57 PM

See what Impaktrc has, but you may be out of luck- why the need for a clutch?

fastlane01 03.08.2010 09:14 PM

I liked the clutch on my dm-1 spec.

nitrostarter 03.08.2010 09:19 PM

go direct pinion drive!

fastlane01 03.08.2010 09:23 PM

I ordered a mount that will work.

This is it. It's kinda like the savage flux mount

1) never buy from FD as he is a bad businessman, has poor customer service/ after sales service, and generally sells utter shite ( in terms of quality for r/c conversion parts for trucks etc ).
2) There is no 2), as 1) was so accurate and truthful.

fastlane01 03.09.2010 07:28 PM

oh damn. That bites. I ordered already and e-mail him and got a response quick and my part is on its way already. I had no idea. I e-mailed mike also but never got a return e-mail. I am trying to get this build done before my next weekend off. I have plans to hit a local track.

suicideneil 03.10.2010 06:10 PM

Well, it'll work, but all it is really is a pair of pipe clamps. Mike takes a while to reppon as hes always busy ( preparing for rcx show or whatever is coming up soon too ), where as Chris Fine has zero customers, alienated them all a long time ago. There was actually an article on a website ( & a thread posted here about it ) about how he has seen business drop so much he & his brother ( who run his shop ) have stopped taking paychecks in order to try and stay afloat, but the outlook isnt good. Trouble is once he has your money thats it, good luck getting after sales support on electrical items and what-not ( the main issue that has killed his business ).

No way man, I heard he has a deal with MaxCramps on brushless lipo powered tool lickers, together they are the industries first. With 100C burst rates. They've revolutionized rear packed components.

fastlane01 03.10.2010 06:51 PM

I totally understand what you're saying. I only bought the mounts from him. That's it. I like xtm-dealer.com ole rclynx. I can call Griff AKA "RCLYNX" up and buy parts or shoot the shhhht with him. Customer service is the absolute best. Thanks for the warning and I do look forward to showing this conversion step by step. Oh yeah I like the clutch for its smooth takeoffs and it is easier on drive train. I think there is a way to use Rc monster mount with the clutch but I was in a hurry to get my parts.

Yep there's Crazy Cajun RC Track in Scott.

fastlane01 03.10.2010 08:09 PM

You live close to BR hu? They're any good tracks out there?

nitrostarter 03.10.2010 10:12 PM

Hmm... There was a nice indoor in BR but it shut down.

There's a track in Destrehan, its ok but its not that well maintained due to being parish owned.

Theres also a nice track in Watson/Denham Springs and another nice one in Springfield.
