|
Way to go Mike
|
good job mike !
|
I knew mike could do it. He's my hero.
|
Yeah, Coolhand, mine too.
Congrats Mike! |
Did you see mikes revo? http://www.crispycrittershobbyshop.c...hp?p=7749#7749
Why are the brushless lap times so slow compared to nitro? I've never raced or even seen an RC race track in person. Not knocking anyone but was just wondering. Thank you, Promod |
Holy hell, that Revo is awsome, I would love the details on how to make that chassis fit! :D
Nitro races are normally alot longer than electrics, so maybe the Revo needed time to cool down and change batteries? Just a guess. :) |
is that Mikes BL Revo!?
omg omg i want one |
I was going to do one like Dafni's but now i'm going to have to wait:eek:  :C:
|
wow i havent been on this forum in awhile...but i saw a pic of mikes revo on the UE forum and i was amazed...i wish i could have made it down this year. i went to a local race insted and took 3rd in the amain with my mammoth st. congrats on a great finish and an amazing truck mike!!! are you going to be at supercross?
|
Yeah i want a revo like mike's, thats amazing. I am really hoping thats the conversion that he's working on. If there is a list going i want in on it!

My best lap was in the 34.745, which is right up there with the A main's of both big block and small block. During Qualifing, most of the BB and SB A main drivers were doing 9 laps, Mike G and I got 9 laps. There were guys I had to lap 4 times to finish, and in 5 minutes that's just not easy. When I was out practicing I could see that I and other fast E's were on pace with the best guys running Maxx type trucks. The truggies had us licked, nothing I can say about that and the 1/8th always lay down sick laps. I really think the problem with our laps this year was the diversity in the class. With that said, I'm very happy and proud of the guys who ran in the class. It takes a lot of guts to get out there and compete in an event on this level. I WISH more of you would take your trucks down from the shelf or backyard and get them out on the track. I had hoped we would go A/B/C main this year. Many guys who I expected to see didn't show. RC Monster Mike has created this amazing resource for us all, we help eachother and hopefully we can all bring our trucks out and race now and again. If anyone needs help, this community is ready to answer. I really hope to see more of you on the track and hope our class continues to grow. New products are making it easier to race and Electric Monster well and have fun doing it. |
Hey I had an idea of using the gmaxx chassis something like that. It was a good idea. Thanks mike for showing me what it would be like. It looks petty simple to do to a point. I like that.
|
macII, good job taking the win. I couldn't stay till the emaxx race, just wasnt going to sit threw 2 more 30min mains. I also got to check out mikes revo in person, it really does look sweet.
|
Thanks for the congrats, guys! I was actually struggling with setup all weekend(three classes is simply too much!). Dave(MacII) is a great driver and did a fantastic job taking down the win. I wis I had the time to get my truck dialed(truck was dialed, but controller was not!), as I know Dave and I can put on a close, tight race on any given track (I guess you got me back from the RCMTRA race, Dave!). sammyO did a great job in e-maxx as well(I know her truck was dialed-I built it!).
All in all, I had a great time for the weekend, even though I struggled to keep up with three classes and had my fair share of troubles! Promod: I can usually keep pace with all but the fastest 1/8 buggies and dust the small and big block monster trucks in a race, but I simply was not "one with my truck" in this class. I had some good lap times with my truggy, but a few pit errors cost me some time and a couple positions! |
What a great weekend of racing. Congratulations to Dave for your win in E-Maxx, your truck is so fast. I was extremely happy with my second place finish. Congrats Mike and THANK YOU again for building me an incredible truck. It was really dialed in!!
I look forward to seeing you all again real soon. |
Hey Mike. Is that the final design or do they have some other things to sort out?
|
There will be a few minor changes, but it will be very similar to the design you see in the picture Aldo posted. Steve Slayden from Traxxas took some pictures as well, and said he was going to do a write up on it on the traxxas boards as well.
|
Mike, is the Revo suspension that much better than say a supermaxx Racer-X suspension?
Thank you, Promod |
Yea, i'm interested in what you thought to
|
mac, i agree with what you said, but to be competitive in the emaxx class takes alot of $$$. i had an awesome BL truck, but i just simply couldnt afford to keep running it. i wanted a 4 wheeler so i was forsed to sell my e. i really miss it when i hear about these kinds of races...but im glad to have nitro when i have to run 30 minute mains at my local tracks. its also alot more affordable, and i have just as much fun at my local tracks with my $350 mammoth st. if you race at xtreme like you do, its good to have an e because they have to run 5 minute mains, but anywhere else, the track favors the 12 nitro trucks to 1 emaxx and runs 30 minute mains. again...congrats on the win. i know how it is to have slower guys in your way:mad:
|
I love the racer x suspension. It just works! It is tough to say what is better. The Revo suspension works very well, and has many adjustments, as well as more travel(well, better dampening with more travel-the racer x can be set up to have a lot of travel as well, but the dampening/progressive rate suffers, as does the steering due to the binding on the steering linkage). The captured ends of the Revo suspension are also a nice feature. If only there was an option to put 1/8 diffs in the revo! The racer x is an awesome suspension, and it works killer, as well as being tought than the revo suspension(plastic vs. aluminum), and I would bet it is lighter as well. Tough to say, really. I like them both!
|
Mike are you hinting at your next project? 1/8th revo diffs:D .
Thank you, Promod |
The thought has crossed my mind!
|
Man, hearing about these big races makes me want to fly out to one.
They need to have these big races all over so we all can have this fun too. |
Mike after seeing your GVO, im almost ambarresed to show mine. I thought mine looked nice but it is nothing to yours.

Mike, too bad you were not One with the truck. But I'm sure it turned some heads, eh? |
hey Mike, is that a lehner 19xx series motor? if not, what is it? Also, what controler were you using? By the way imay be a little slow on this. is most of that chassis a Gorilla X-brace chassis for the emaxx?
|
I have never raced a rc. It sounds like fun. Would like to try but don't have any idea of where to go for it. I have race a truck at local drag track. That was awesome as well.
|
Here are some pictures of Mike's "vehicle" from Monster Madness. It sure was a sweet ride.
I actually got to wrench on it with Mike. :) <img src="http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b239/1joeyoung/RC-Monster/gvo_top_off.jpg" alt="Image hosted by Photobucket.com"> <img src="http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b239/1joeyoung/RC-Monster/gvo1.jpg" alt="Image hosted by Photobucket.com"> <img src="http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b239/1joeyoung/RC-Monster/croppedflyinggvo.jpg" alt="Image hosted by Photobucket.com"> <img src="http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b239/1joeyoung/RC-Monster/gvo2.jpg" alt="Image hosted by Photobucket.com"> I also have some video that I'll be editing and running by Mike before I get it shared out. |
This may sound crazy but when I'm on vacation, I often will grab the local phone book and lookup the local hobby store. Call, them and ask where the nearest off-road track is. Then I go and watch a race. I've found that in one or two calls, no matter where in the US I am, I can locate a track. So option one would be to make some calls to local tracks. Another great resource is this:
http://www.rccaraction.com/rc/info/rctrack_srch.asp It's the track directory from RC Car Action Magazine. I doubt it is complete but it gives you a quick way to search for all tracks in your state. Check it out and definately get out there and race, it's amazing how much fun you can have and how great it can be to share the hobby with others. The guys at my local track have become some of my best friends and they have helped me to become a better mechanic and racer....check it out. David M |
The motor is a Lehner 1940/8. I was using the MGM 160/16 controller, but was struggling to get the parameters set to my liking. I did manage to get it set up today, though(unfortunately, it is a couple days too late!)!.
Thanks a bunch for posting the pictures, Joe. And thanks a BIG BUNCH for helping me wrench on my trucks all day in the blistering heat on Saturday. It was a pleasure to meet you and hang out for the day, even though the heat was all but unbearable. I thought I would never heare from you again (figured the wife would kill you for coming home so late!)! Glad you survived the beatings when you got home! :) |
Oh, the chassis braces and lower plate are stock g2 parts. There are new skids and upper plates to complete the conversion.
|
Thanks. Iwas wondering if it was a few custom parts or a total rethink.
|
Blistering heat, eh? Sounds awfull. Nice to have a personal wrencher, though.
If ever it is freezing cold, and no snow on the track, call me up. I can rebuild a diff with frozen fingers! Would love to be your pit-boy. Congrats to MacII for taking the win! |
the motor is a lehner 1940/8. The Electric Revo sure did turn some heads as well.Especially when I floored it on the straight!
|
Mike what does the # 8 stand for in the motor signiture ?.
|

Traxxas response tires were not the tire of choice, heh. http://www.rcpics.net/view_single.php?medid=63318 |
the 8 stands for 8 turn.
Thanks for the vid, Joe! |
Does anybody have any more video of the G-REVO? I am very interested in this setup. Hey Mike. will the carbon fiber battery plate work on this conversion?
