Whish 2.4 radio is better?

Between the 3pmFASST and the DX3.0 which is a better radio?

wallot 02.28.2008 12:53 PM

futaba as it uses the second generation of spread spectrum with frequency hopping to reduce interference even lower. (only DX3R has this from spektrum)

also futaba has few more features than DX 3.0

smokyracing 02.28.2008 12:59 PM

get the fasst much simpler to progarm I have 3 or 4 laying around

Did you check their all new 4pk radio system?

smokyracing 02.28.2008 03:27 PM

if I made them I might think about it.

BlackedOutREVO 02.28.2008 07:21 PM

Get something with FASST!

Its way better then spektrum! IMO

wallot 02.28.2008 07:25 PM

on the other had DX3R is better than 3PM fasst.

several people have confirmed that the response is smoother

also on 3pm radio remembers failsafe setting only in HRS mode that does not work with most ESCs and also many servos

bud 3PM is $130 cheaper than DX3R. I really liked my 3PM till i switched to the new spektrum :)
also futaba recievers are quite big if you have any 1/18 scale cars with limited space

BlackedOutREVO 02.28.2008 07:38 PM

The DX3R sucks nads as far a features for the price

I have a 3PK Super with FASST, and I know the 2.4 in my radio is heaps better then the DX3R, only thing that I like about it is its super light.... Its not smoother, I have no doubt in my mind there.....

IDK features on the 3PM, so I cant comment on the fail safe...

there both good radios yes, but the 3R is overpriced for what it is.....

Mike_D 02.28.2008 07:52 PM

I vote the DX3R as that is what i have. I will admit the Spektrums are a little on the expensive side but well worth the money in my opinion. I have never been a Futaba fan myself, i just don't like the feel of them.

MTBikerTim 02.28.2008 07:54 PM

Is the nomadio an option?

BlackedOutREVO 02.28.2008 07:58 PM

I do have to add

I am a racer, I dont have any bash cars.. All up racing, so that could be why I prefer what I do...

captain harlock 02.28.2008 08:25 PM

You guys are rotten french fries....;) lol!

I already posted a pic of the best radio that mankind has ever created for surface purposes and still talking about those inferior tx with old spectrum devices.

I say a 4pk and you are the winner....go for it, dude. Even if you have to save every single penny for this trans, you'll never be disappointed.

BlackedOutREVO 02.28.2008 10:24 PM

Al,

I could of ordered one, but I dont like it... Someone at my track is a futaba driver, and he as one, its nice and light, but other then looking weird and running on half the voltage, its the same radio, that is supposed to cost 500 bucks, and I paied 390 with my 3PK S with FASST

Hickoryhead 02.29.2008 01:56 AM

Its always nice to have a good radio but can you justify the price for it? I mean are you really going to notice the difference in the features? I use the DX2.0 Spektrums. They work great for me. One of my friends has the DX3.0. He asked me to come over and help him program it for his RC. There is a ton of features the DX3.0 has compared to my DX2.0. I was lost on some of them. I could not tell the difference in some of the features after we had changed them up. I can't justfy the money to buy that nice of a radio if I am not going to use all the features it has. I am not a pro by any means (not even novice). Just my 2 cents but buy the radio that best fits your style and features you like then put the extra cash into your RC.:yipi:

I completely agree. It's really not worth spending the extra money if you don't need to.

wallot 02.29.2008 10:39 AM

3PK is just another level and you cannot compare it to 3PM or DX3R and competes with M11.
DX3R is more of a classy radio with some nice features (left handed for those who need it, great display, simple operation - no extra system menyu to switch profiles or change profile settings, profile names, just 4 cells, more responsive than 3pm,

The best value radio right now is 3PM Fasst but I think those extra features on DX3R are worth the extra $120
and i sold my 3pm for $280 so DX3R cost me just $30 :) - futaba is so overpriced in europe

BlackedOutREVO 02.29.2008 04:59 PM

I know a 3PK isnt in the same range

But you could buy a used 3PK Super, or even the normal 3PK for the same price as a DX3R, or on ebay, you can get a 3PK S with FASST for 360

I know thats not much more money then a 3R

As far as features, I said im a pretty hardcore racer, so thats why I say what I do....... But if your going to get a 3R, its isnt much more money to get tip top of the line

The 3R's extra features arent worth an extra 120 bucks IMHO, (key point)

There ALL miles ahead of crystal's and all that stuff, so go with what you can afford, and what feels good in your hand

Mainly I'm looking for a decent radio to replace my TRX in my new Brushless E-Maxx. I have poor range and glitching. Price is always an issue of course so I'm looking to spend wisely on a lower priced new or good used. I'm really open to all options on a budet under $150 maybe?

I'd drop a little more and get a DX3.0 if it were me. You can pick it up from ultimatehobbies.com for $209.95 shipped and it comes with 2 SR3000 Rx's.

snellemin 02.29.2008 06:07 PM

I bought a cheapie one, the Airtronics MX-3FHSS 3-Channel 2.4ghz. Got it for 150 brandnew at my LHS.

notnodak 02.29.2008 09:50 PM

As an alternative, whats a good fm radio for under a hundred?

skellyo 02.29.2008 10:07 PM

A used Airtronics MX-3 is always a good bet.

notnodak 02.29.2008 10:52 PM

Is this a good radio for the price and can I slave my second steering servo to the third channel?

I have been thinking about getting that radio, how do you like it?

snellemin 03.01.2008 10:49 AM

The radio is great. Responds is smooth and fast. Makes my high speed driving more controllable.
