DX3R Radio
I just got the DX3R radio and I got it all set up and started plugging things in, and I noticed when I got three of of the pluggs plugged into the reciever it seemed cramped, the fourth plug won't really even fit in there. I'm sure it would fit but I feel like something is gonna break if I just press it in there really hard. Its like there is not enough space between the plugs, they are to close together. Has anyone else expirenced this or have any advice?

I managed to get 4 in my spektrum receiver. Plug in the outer plugs first, then insert the middle 2 plugs last. If you are using different brand plugs, it can make it tougher. I had to change one of mine to a JR plug from an old novak or tekin esc (when they used to give you all the different plugs).
|
I had these problems even with my old 3PM 2.4Ghz radio. some plugs are just bit bigger
|
Ok thanks. I'll see what I can do.
|
and BTW - spektrum is giving out free receivers - http://www.spektrumrc.com/giveaway/
I wish i got my radio after 15th of february and not as soon as it was released :) |
Wow, I just got my radio this weekend, does that mean I can go buy another reciever and then get one free? That would be great!!!
|
Damn! I bought my DX3R on Jan 20th. Now i wish i had waited.
|
wow thats a pretty good deal. I was thinking of replacing my jr z1 with the dx3r and this might just do it. now I will just have to see if I can come up with enough cash for a radio and an extra receiver.
|
whats the average price for the DX3R's??
anyone know who gives the lowest prices? |
http://www.ultimatehobbies.com/istar...d=SPM3100!1002
$269 with free shipping. Thats the best Ive found and where I got mine. There may be better. I haven't searched that hard. |
hmm... doesn't look like they ship international. Might just go impakt rc for $275, plus what type of shipping i choose
|
as jhautz listed ultimate hobbies is the cheapest I have found. I am actually just trying to make up my mind now on if I should buy it or not. I would like to see how it feels but lhs doesn't have any.
|
I really like it. Fits my hand great and very light and easy to use. I dumped my M11 in favor of it. Not quite as many features as the M11 I replaced, but they were all the options I never used or didnt really know how to use.
The DX3R is much more "intuitive" than many of the other high end radios I have seen. One the downside.... I dont feel like the fit and finish of the DX3R isnt quite up to the standards of the M11 or 3PK IMO. Dont get me wrong... Its not bad at all. Just a little short of the mark set by the others IMO. |
thats the one complaint I hear about it. I have a jr-z1 now and like the feel with the drop down wheel but this radio has caught my eye. Just wish I could hold one and see if its comfortable for me before spending for $$$
|
well, I ended up ordering it anyways. figured with the receiver deal they are doing it would be the best time to try it.
If I dont like the feel of it then I guess I will just keep the z1. |
I did the same thing. Ordered it but didnt get rid of my old radio right away. I figured if I didnt like it I could always toss it up on ebay and get most of the money back. The 265 w/ free shipping from Ultimate is chaper than they are selling for on ebay by around $30.
I think you will like it. The menus are great and really easy to use. |
I hope I like it too. I did get to finally hold one at a new track that opened up. It is very light, made my z1 with lipo feel like an m8. Didn't get to try out the menu's though. The one thing I think I will miss is the drop down wheel.

if anyone is still looking for these. tiltedrc has a special today. $249
http://www.tiltedrc.com/index.php |
Tiltedrc is out of stock on them. However, they can be found in stock at http://www.carolinasrc.com/webstore/...idproduct=7302 and with the use of coupon code MAPR825, the total would be $254.99 shipped. I'm not sure I've ever seen a better out the door price on that radio.
|
you are correct. guess I didn't notice the quantity left when I posted. anyways the one you posted is also a great price. I paid 270 2 weeks ago and that was the cheapest I was able to find at the time.
|
man everywhere I look for this radio it is $320.. Does the free reciever program work from any vendor I thought I read it had to be fro Horizon or something maybe I read it wrong..
|
Only licenced dealers I believe
|
yes licensed dealers listed on horizon website
|
I have not used the dx3r but im sure it is a decent radio. I currently have a Nomadio React and that is the best radio i have ever had. The telemetry is awesome for temps and voltage of lipos.

I think... not a 100% but they offer another lcd screen that plugs in that will report back the temps, speed, volts..
http://www.spektrumrc.com/Products/D...ProdID=SPM1305 They also make one for nitro I dunno if it works for the dx3r.. I would assume |
Research the attachment LCD screen a little bit more.
I'm pretty sure I have come across some posts where they say that additional telemetry specktrum screen only works with the DX2, and DX3, but NOT the DX3R. I think it is cause it clips on to the anettenna of the older radios, but cant clip on the new DX3R radio. But I dont know if that is the only issue. I think an e-mail to specktrum would be good for this. I'm not positive about this, but research it alot before you buy it and think that it will work. |
I was in the same boat after I read that part..
|
wow, it took me this long to notice that there were a few more posts after lucias's first one
i just sent Spektrum an email regarding my question, ill give you guys an update when i get a reply  thanks for your help jordan |
on one of my radios, I was using the telemetry and I just glued a small rubber "hose" on the back and slid that over my antenna. it sat right where I needed it to be. I almso shoe good some foam rubber to the side one attempt to get it angled and it was glued to the foam. shoe goo has to be the best invention known to man LOL
