My LSP is starting to come to life

i just got this from lincpimp recently, thank you btw. not much to show under the hood as of yet, but i did just mount my wing, a body i just painted, and grp truggy tires i had laying around. plans for under the hood are:
mm esc (mounted)
ccbec (mounted)
4s2p lipo 25c (orderd)
hacker c50 15L (ordered)
i'm not sure which servo i'll put for steering yet. right now its a cheepy on there and i'm running it w/stock hpi am radio which will change out soon to fasst 2.4. i just recieved my jr robot servo i won on ebay today. its boosting 400in/oz at 7.2, so at 6v i'm sure it'll be nice on there, or i have a jr 650 or jr ds8711 to choose from.

i'll do some hood off pics when i get my other stuff in.

funny thing, i got it last night in the mail. i couldn't paint it today because i promised my cousin i'd go with him to the drag strip. i spent the better part of today drinking at the track. i got back home a bit drunk and painted the body trimed and let me daughter put on the stickers you see in less than 1.5 hours before posting these picks. i'm still a little tipsy now, with that coming down headache you get:tongue:

lincpimp 03.08.2008 11:21 PM

Ah drunk painting. This is the best result I have seen during that "state of mind"!

I do custom painting on real cars, and drunk is the last thing I want to be when I do any graphics layouts. But is seems to have worked well for you, good job!

tashpop 03.08.2008 11:59 PM

i wouldn't ever do a real car either. i had so many ideas to do seeing all the cars at the track, but once i got home, i just started going. i didn't feel like dealing with the liquid mask or anything, so i decided i'd give this a try. it really photos well i guess. i wasn't that impressed. either way, i have my basher body!

I like it alot. Looks really sharp.

3 questions....

What tecnique did you use to get those shapes?

What were you drinking?

How much did you drink before painting?

I want to try and do something similar, but before I do I want to make sure I understand the details...:drunk::drunk::drunk::drunk:

LOL

perhaps we should make this an 18+ painting techniques thread..

jhautz 03.09.2008 04:03 AM

Here in the US most places it 21+

Serum 03.09.2008 04:04 AM

That's the worst part.. You can't seem to paint a decent body if your bellow 21..

I really like the way these grp tires look btw.

Haldir 03.09.2008 04:07 AM

Nice body, we can't wait to see the finished truck.

tashpop 03.09.2008 07:34 AM

i just grabbed up a scrap peice of lexan from a body i trimed and cut a few swoops in it for my borders and used transparent yellow first. put it down, then made some patterns with white, then repeted with more yellow then white, then trans blue and white patterns, then hit the rest with black. for drinks, i had 5 tall cans of miller light. not much choice at the track.

the grp tires are kick arse. i got them locally because its all the lhs had with a short sidewall, and i love them. i do alot of asphalt high speed runs, and these stick and handle high speeds very well. i think losi teamed up with grp now so losi's truggy line of tires are the same thing. the pins are too small for lawn duty though, lots of wheel spin, but i can drift with them.

Where did you order the hacker 15L?

tashpop 03.09.2008 05:37 PM

ebay

tashpop 03.11.2008 08:28 PM

got the motor today, looks nice. i'm surprised, its lighter than a feigao L can. its identical length, but larger around about like a KB45 in diameter. now i'm just waiting for my batteries to come in. they've been shipped, so shouldn't be long. i'll get more pics at that point. i also have to either get another futuba 2.4 reciever, or steel the one off my emaxx. i'll probably just pic one up after payday. we'll see.

lincpimp 03.11.2008 11:28 PM

Your gonna love that hacker c50. It is a great motor, and you basically stole it!

tashpop 03.12.2008 06:59 AM

shhhhhh! i left the seller the best feedback i could think of. he also rivals mike on his shipping speed. i paid him at just after 5:30 pm and he had me a tracking number by 6:30 my time.

tashpop 03.12.2008 08:27 PM

i couldn't take waiting any longer, i had to see what this motor could do. i straped on a pair of 4s1p a123's for a test run. oh man i was so scared i got a bad motor. cogging like i've never seen before on the ground. in the air it was ultra smooth. anyway, after battling with my punch control and timing on the mm, i looked at the software. i still had 1.09 running even though i downloaded 1.17. simple update and she's smooth. i still get a little cogging reverse, but its very minor. just a little skip. would that go away if i increase it, its only 40% now i think. anyway back to the motor. its pretty powerful. i'm getting the same punch off the line as i was getting with the feigao 10L when i tried 6s on it, so that impressive going down to 4s on this motor. after all this was up and going, i made one pass down the streed and my batteries dumped. i knew they didn't have much in them, but i'm hoping i can get a decent run before the sun goes down to look at my temps and power at a good charge. i can only charge at 4amps on that voltage so its taking a while.

tashpop 03.13.2008 08:27 AM

still cogged on a good charge, looks like the mgm16018's going on there. it works good enough to drive, but i have difficult getting started when i'm in the grass on an incline, or if its rolling backwards.

lincpimp 03.13.2008 10:36 AM

Hey tash, 4s2p a123 is a bit low on voltage for this motor in a truggy. I would go up to 5s for the mm, or 6s if you can (with the mgm). You could go up to 7s a123 if you wanted to, this motor can handle the higher rpm. I run my c50 15l in a new emaxx on 5s lipo thru a 125b quark. I have an 8l c50 in a buggy that I run 4s on! It spins up near 50k rpm, but does not get hot, and it has some serious power too! These are some realy good motors, wish i could get my hands on an xl c50, but I have a self imposed limit of 125 per motor. Kind of rules out the expensive stuff.

Just for a laugh, I got the c50 8l and a feiago 14xl for 125. The guy had no idea what wind the c50 was as it did not have a sticker. So I got a deal!

tashpop 03.13.2008 08:20 PM

yeah, i knew i was spinning the motor slow, but i didn't want to push the mm. i however now have my mgm in there which makes 6s lipo easy. i don't plan at all keeping the a123's in this guy because i'm thinking lighter weight. i've already ordered my lipos, so i may have to get some 2s packs to make them 6s
