Losi LST2 Brushless

I was thinking about converting an Lst to brushless(didn't want to buy from that FineDesign guy) and wanted to use a Neu motor with a 6s lipo and since the truck has mech. brakes, use a Castle HV 125. Would use Monster Pro if the Castle doesn't work, anybody know which Neu i should use?:whip: Maybe Mike could make me some good motor mounts so i don't have to.

jzemaxx 03.21.2008 08:09 PM

The CC 125 is not the HV model, its only good for 6S. The HV model is rated for 12S.

bluonyx 03.21.2008 08:29 PM

So on the airplane models (HV110) you can use the same setup as the MM models? Like forward/brake/reverse (proportional w/reverse lockout)? It that's the case why haven't I bought one!

lincpimp 03.21.2008 08:54 PM

None of the cc air escs, inc the hv110, have proportional brakes. You must also use a pixstix adapter so that they will work with a wheel radio.

entjoles 03.21.2008 09:04 PM

i have been interested in this also , now that i have mech. brakes on my truck i may try this, anyway can someone post a link to a pixstix, i couldnt find it on tower , and dont know where to find one, thanks

HobbyCity Turnigy 6S-100Amp ESC is working great in my Brushless LST on 6S and 9XL... $65 ESC + $14 PiStix.... works great!!

The CC 125 comes in the regular and HV model.

True, it doesn't have proportional brakes, but it does have brakes. I don't need em though because the Lst has mech. brakes. I don't know anything about pixstix, but the CC rep. that i talked to didn't mention using pixstix to make it work with my wheel radio.:eyes:

:oh:I'm sorry about that, i meant the HV110, my bad!:mdr:

lincpimp 03.22.2008 03:24 PM

Pxstix is available from rchydros, who make it.

Or get it from offshoreelectrics.com.

Fast5sRevo88 03.22.2008 07:13 PM

Found it, that website is on my favorites, right under my nose.

Feigo 7XL Motor

Do ya'll think that a Feigo 7XL motor would be a better choice than the Neu 1521?:intello:

bluonyx 03.23.2008 10:11 PM

I have a Fine Design XLT1 in my LST2 which is basically a 7XL. I just ordered a Neu so I'm hoping it'll make a huge difference. I got used to the XLT motors and want more now.:oh:

lincpimp 03.23.2008 10:41 PM

I have an aftershock, and intend to use a KB 45 12xl motor on 8s-10s lipo. Leaving the stock 2 speed and using Mike's 2 speed adapter, which I had him bore out to fit the KB 6mm shaft.

Going to leave the mech brakes and use a CC hv85 esc with a pixstix adapter. Most likely going to use a pair of 2200 20c 5s lipos wired in series.

Batteries should be good for nearly 2hp, hope that is enough. I may have to buy some larger capcity 5s packs, we will see.

tashpop 03.24.2008 07:31 AM

i'm going to go on a limb here and say that won't be enough. just compairing my two setups i have. i've only metered my lsp which made just over 2hp running a hacker c50 L and compairing that to my emaxx running a kb45 on same voltage you're going after. the emaxx's power feels roughly twice as violent. its got to be putting out over 3hp. i notice a significant difference with lower capacity batteries on same voltage. its like i set a 50% training mode on the esc. and that setup is enough to heat up my mgm160, so i'm pretty sure i'm exceeding its amp ratings.

edit:
i miss read. i'm running 1/2 voltage as you'll be running, but still 44amps seems low.

lincpimp 03.24.2008 09:32 AM

Yeah, I really need to buy some better batteries. Most of my lower kv motors are around 1200kv, so a pair of 4s packs for 8s total would be optimum. That way I can run the motors around 35k rpm. 9s would be just right, but I do not like having different size packs, if only for asthetic reasons.

Thinking a pair of flightpower 4s 25c packs, but what size? Maybe the 3300, 0r 3700? The 3300 should be good for about 3hp, and the 3700 around 3.5hp. Whatcha think?

aqwut 03.24.2008 06:56 PM

Gotta love those lower KV motors.... . all of my motors now are anywhere from 700 - 1500... I like 1000KV.. seems to be my favourite...

Fast5sRevo88 03.25.2008 08:44 PM

PiStix

I'm assuming that the pixstix thingy goes between the throttle channel and the speed control?

lincpimp 03.25.2008 10:58 PM

Yup, it alters the signal that the receiver produces to match what an air system makes. That tricks the esc to work correctly.

lucias 04.02.2008 05:56 PM

I talked to the Fine Design guys and I asked what him about my setup which was a CC phoenix 125 and a 7xl feriago motor.. he didn't recommend using unless i wanted to stick with 3s. I don't know much about this eletric stuff, it all confuses me so I am going to stick with his conversion..

He said there motors were special wrapped for them if I remember right..

aqwut 04.02.2008 11:33 PM

the 7XL works awesome on 4S...

lucias 04.02.2008 11:34 PM

With what speed controller?

lincpimp 04.03.2008 12:21 AM

The 7xl and phoenix 125 will work fine on 4s. Just make sure that your batteries can deliver at least 100-110 amps constant. Something like a 5000 25c flightpower pack would be great for that motor/esc.

jnev 04.03.2008 12:47 AM

Not to hijack the thread or anything, but is the V-Balancer required to balance a flightpower pack? Can I just use my LBA10 balancer? Is there an adapter of some sort needed?

Here is the adapter: http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...ducts_id/18243

Works great and plugs directly into the lba 10. I modded mine to work with my lba 6. Nicely made, I have the other types to use align and a multi board of hyperion taps. Nice cause there is no need to keep track of loose adapter harnesses.

jnev 04.03.2008 12:55 AM

Perfect!! Thanks linc!!

You are very welcome, cheap battery packs may sell that too, as I now see that amain is out of stock.

_paralyzed_ 04.03.2008 01:08 AM

do trak power and thunder power batteries use the same balance connector? they both use the v-balance thingy

_paralyzed_ 04.03.2008 01:10 AM

edit: "thingy" is a often unheard technical term used to describe the subject at hand, I realize with my high school dropout background my terminology is often over the head of the laman, and for that, I apologize

Yes and no

The TrakPower uses 2 4mm bullet plugs, and one 2mm plug in the center

But I think the V balancer does the normal balance plug, or TP style...

On topic, a 7XL in a LST? Isnt a pretty hot motor for a big car?

Thanks para, I had actually mistaken it for a whatchmadinky, which I now understand to be entirely different. I wish that I had studied latin, as these technical terms were originaly formulated by canadians. I have alot of trouble understanding people from canadia, which is somewhere near russia from what I hear.

You dont need any PISTIX adapter on this ESC, once you calibrate you ESC with Pistol Grip transmitter it will work on it!

lincpimp 04.03.2008 01:47 AM

The v balancer has a special harness that plugs into the 2 main 4mm plugs on the trakpower lipo. It also has a a 2mm plug to connect to the balance port. The reg v balancer and the car version are the same save for different colors. Most other flightpower packs have a std balance plug that is the same as thunderpower uses.

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXRWF8&P=ML

Check out the pic, the larger red and black blocks with the male 4mm bullet connectors, also have a female 4mm for the balancer outputs to plug in. The pic shows it already plugged in, but you can buy the adapter seperately, and it will fit a lba balancer with some wiring mods.

I tried that without the PiStix.. with my 3PK and Spektrum, I had to re-calibrate it every time... And I can't affor a 60MPH RC running out of control... When it's happened to you, you worry..

I had 2x 1940's and 2x 40.160 go into a pond with 48 GP3300 Rainbow packs.... along with my ANCNM Maxx... better safe than sorry..
What Radio system are you using?...

_paralyzed_ 04.03.2008 04:41 AM

aqwut- sorry to hijack the thread, I'll give it right back, btw I have 4 new white genesis springs I don't need or want, can you use them?*FREEBIE*

Linc- I'm a funny guy, but you're an all out riot, I believe it's cananada, not canadia, I'll have to ask one of those floppy headed cananadians

aqwut- the thread is yours again

aqwut 04.03.2008 10:31 AM

Thanks para... I have about 16 backup shocks for my Genesis.. I do appreciate.. but if you can't find someone to take it, I will... what would the shipping cost be.. to me Canadia

Sorry for the hi-jack as well to whomever started the LST...
I still have 1 LST left... I can't decide to keep it or to sell it....
