New Traxxas Vehicle
No specs yet but looks interesting.
http://www.traxxas.com/products/promo/5805_promo.htm Here's the details. http://www.traxxas.com/products/elec...805-intro1.htm |
Wow! I would never, ever have seen that coming. Ever. Certainly looks like it could be a lot of fun to drive. Seems like this is more of a side-effort by Traxxas while they work on bigger stuff (especially given that they didn't hype it) but it looks a lot of fun. Nothing amazing, but a cool offering.
Blimey...a *scale* CORR truck from Traxxas. I don't think ANYONE saw that coming... |
kinda reminds me of this
http://forums.radiocontrolzone.com/s...d.php?t=247114 |
Look like a Stampede with new wheel and body:neutral:
|
Ok, wouldn't of thought something like that would come out of Traxxas. Would of thought a new EP 4tec before something entirely new
|
It does look like a stampede..I wish traxxas would come out with a vehicle that did not require spending tons of extras on hop ups just to make it drivable on a reg. basis (Revo aside) IMO
|
Is this to hold us off untill the brushless e-maxx or 1/8th buggy? I was dissapointed with the new Blast maybe make at least a BL Villan? it's like they're rattling off vehicles and they don't even care.
|
Nice! Gotta add that to my "gotta have that" list. I'm guessing it'll be priced in the $175-190 range since it's got an XL-5/Titan setup in it. It makes the new Losi Desert Truck look awfully pathetic. At least this one has a pretty realistic CORR body to it.
|
The XL-5/Titan sure isn't the best. I wish they did the VXL. Cheap enough upgrade anyways though.

hmmm Air flow? Found on traxxas site. The Titan 12T 550 modified motor is designed for incredible mod-motor power output with virtually maintenance-free operation, and long-lasting performance. The Titan 12T 550 motor’s integrated cooling fan pulls cool air through the motor to keep temperatures down. Airflow is routed through vent tunnels molded in the motor plate. A cooler running motor equates to faster speeds, longer runtime, and extended motor life. The XL-5 Electronic Speed Control offers high current handling, EZ-Set® one-button setup, and smooth high-frequency control. Three drive profiles, thermal shutdown protection, gold-plated connectors, and incredibly low resistance are all features you might expect to only be available on an expensive replacement ESC. As today’s batteries store more and more energy inside their cells, traditional battery connectors could no longer keep up. The included Traxxas High-Current Connector opens the door for unrestricted current flow. I didn't read that well enough the first time. :lol: |

Kewl :D
|
yea it would be better with a brushless setup in there, but o well, seems like traxxas is more "kid" influenced
|
As posted on the Traxxas forum by a Traxxas employee:
"May 22 availability Price has not been officially announced yet. Expect it to be close in price to an Electric Stampede model 3605. Comes with an XL-5 brushed system (w/ 12-turn motor). It's pretty wicked with a VXL system and a 7-cell." |
at first glance I was pretty sure the rusty was going bye bye. once I saw the size of it next to the rustler I knew the rustler was getting replaced. I'm going to try to be the first to make it 4wd!
|
already know im gonna get one. which it wil lbe the 37th traxxas vehicle in my fleet.
|
37!!!! holy cow!
|
:surprised:my fastlane tranny will fit- selling off the tranny and electronics will pay for the truck! bye bye rusty:na:
|
I want one for fun. being based on a pede you know it'll be tough. Losi has one like this out too now, but I am not a losi fan (seen the new brushless rtr trucks losi are selling coming back to the lhs for repairs 20 mins after leaving)

you don't have a link to the 4wd mod do you?:whistle:

Can I get the full sized version remote controlled with a brushless system???? hehehehe
|
Wow. I'm totally underwhelmed.

It would be a pretty bad truck with 4wd!!!! I want to see that :yes:

@supralover72
What is the wheelbase of mike's CRT.5 chassis? http://www.traxxas.com/products/elec...ages/specs.jpg When looking at the dimensions of this truck i think a regular 1:8 buggy chassis would fit well under this body. |
I like, throw my extra VXL in there and it would be great! Even if they had a 4-wheel drive one, i wouldn't buy it, i mean the real thing is 2x4.

Still, you can't match the original, thunder tech CORR truck kit, with RPM arms, rock solid chassis, Lexan AND Hard plastic display body that you can repaint, tamiya high lift wheels and tires, and a whole lot more: http://www.thundertechracing.com/pro2a.htm |
Anyone here seen the thundertech corr truck? I have a feeling that this traxxas truck will be better, but bigger too.

Check this one out. The LHS has one of these in stock and I was checkin it out the other day. Looks like a truggy chassis with buggy arms. Funky looking but looks like it could be fun. I also saw in one of the magazines that CEN is coming out with a truck similar to the robotronic one I posted above and it will be based on the cen matrix suspesion and drivetrain with exteneded chassis. I think I would rather convert one of these and run the 4 wheel drive than the traxxas 2wd offering. But... the traxxas will certainly be cheaper. |
Well, I for one will buy one of these. I really like the pede/rustler platform and think that this new truck will be too cool. Plus it will be lightweight and not require an expensive motor/esc combo to run it. That being said I think that a 4s setup with a mgm 80 and an aveox 2500 kv motor will be my power choice! Only because I have everything!

@jhautz
The BR50 Trophy from Robitronic also sparked my interest as i run a Robitronic Mantis truggy and do like realistic bodys. Like you mentioned it has the chassis of the mantis truggy but uses the arms/tires of the robitronic Protos buggy. Only a few new parts were used (shocks ...). Before it was available (Robitronics headquarter is a 5 minute drive from my place) i mixed the truggy and buggy parts myself just to see how the chassis will handle this way. Pics of this hybrid (truggy+buggy parts): pic1, pic2, pic3 I even made a video of it running on asphalt: video (had an issue with the front right bone which was too short, the BR50 has cvds) As i didn't made any shock adjustments and had a somewhat smaller trackwidth as the BR50 Trophy truck it was rather hard to control. The buggy tires had troubles to put the torque to the ground. Nevertheless it was fun to drive. Handled more like my former converted buggy. But when i drove it on gras and rougher terrain it was a bumpy ride. With the truggy arms and tires the chassis was by far more stable. So all in all i would compare its handling to a buggy. Energy consumption also was more like in my brushless buggy (kind of expected as it wheighed way less with the smaller buggy tires). If the trophy from Robitronic would have bigger tires it would be more appealing to me. With the small buggy tires its offroad capabilities are limited (quite comparable to a 1:8 buggy). The trophy seems to be better suited for race tracks. |
My personal feeling is: Meh...
Looks scale, but its just a pede with a new shell and chassis. I think someone said this is to distract us while traxxas work on the BL emaxx 3905 or E-revo, - I sure hope so. Othello- you will be able to help me hopefully; what is the difference between the Mantis, and the mantis txs ?... I cant figure it for the life of me... |
@suicideneil
. TXS: 3 ported OEM axial nitro motor (not the 8 ported axial spec2). No big difference in power output though. . TXS: only the front axle is equipped with universal joint shafts, rest are dogbones (the mantis rtr has universal joint shafts all around). . TXS: Less accessory -> no additional clutch bells, ... You can consult the manuals online to compare both versions: . Mantis rtr manual . Mantis txs manual |
Cheers Othello!

Yeah it's has similarities with a pede there's no denying that. Let's lok at the fact that the truck will be very reasonably priced. I like my emaxx don't get me wrong. What I'm tired of is charging and maintaining all the batteries. 2 packs per run.(my charger does 2 at a time but still) This would run nicely with just one pack. The stampede and rustler have been clocked at over 70 mph just about stock, with just some simple gearing changes on a VXL. This has to be capable of closely the same thing. I think it will be less work and more fun. I may part out my g2 chassis 'ed emaxx just to fund this project.
You can also race side to side without rubbing wheels. I think that will be really cool. It's all plastic too and the parts will be cheap. |
I really like the scale look of this new vehicle, but for the internals, like Neil said; "meh".
