My XT8
4 Attachment(s)
My new Xray XT8... still in the build process, but its taking shape quite nicely. Thanks again to mike for putting together such a nice conversion kit.
Looks good, only one question, why did you mount your batteries so far back? With the motor back there I'd think you want those batteries much further forward. Just my $0.02.

It was to make use of existing holes in the chassis. The nice thing is that I didn't have to drill any new holes yet. If the weight distribution becomes an issue, the batts can be moved forward very easily. I'll keep your point in mind when I start fine tuning everything. Thanks.
Yeah, mine looks a bit like swiss cheese from all the holes I drilled. I moved weight forward and it handles MUCH better than it did with it heavy in the rear.
DM |
Where is your center of balance on your truggy? Mine is about 2cm behind the spur gear right now, and almost dead center.... I'm assuming that's too far back?
What battery tray and batteries are pictured?
the tray is from an e-maxx (cut to look clean), and the batts are Neu Energy's 2s 5000mah 25C hardcase lipos.

Finished up the body last night. I'm using a proline cp2 for the mbx5t. The design is very basic since my painting skills aren't that great. Some of the lines got a little smudged, but I think it came out ok in the end. The last pic is of my current on-road cars with similar themed bodies.
Wow, it even looks fast! Very nice...love the paint colors!
That looks amazing! I really love the "big and little brother" theme on it. What is the body on the larger of the 2 onroads? And how do you trim your bodies to make them that smooth?
Sick truck man! I love the T-Phalen colors. Look amazing!
Thanks for the compliments. Its been a really fun build.
The body on my corally is a protoform dna1. And I just use lexan scissors. They aren't all that smooth if you see them up close. I think the pictures make it look smoother. :intello: |
Looks awesome!! I'll have to post some shots of my XT8 soon too.
Just mounted up the wheels/tires last night. Its really starting to look good. I'm so tempted to cannibalize a MM from another truck and toss it in here. All I need is the esc, but waiting is so hard!
Oh btw, MacII, I did move the tray forward like you suggested. I might as well get that out of the way while I have the time. (In a william shatner voice) "Must..... resist......urge.... to..... tear apart the revo." |
Go on it's only an esc how long will it take to put back

Ok.... I gave in.
Everything is working great. I can't wait to take it out. |
Looks kickass, good job.
Thanks gtx.
I was able to take it out yesterday, and it runs like a beast! I was worried that heat may become a problem, but after running it yesterday, my worries are gone. The MM did get a bit hot, but stayed under 140F. It should be fine until I get my MMM from mike. (I missed the pre-order sale, so it may be late may by the time I get it). The motor was under 110F and the lipos weren't even warm, so I didn't even bother getting temps for those. Ambient temps were 80-85F (its getting hot!), so I'm pretty happy with the results. As always, thanks to all the guys here for the advice and ideas. |
Well done, you got one kick ass truggy, have fun
just posting this pic on here for posterity.

Was that speed on 4S?
What gearing and Neu motor are you using?
opps.... 1515/1Y on 4s geared at 15/46. Lipos are NeuEnergy 5000mah 25C hard packs.
Bump for Rich, I was there at the bash and he has one Killer Truggy!... Fast too... and handles like it's on rails..
Great build Sir.. |
