Finaly got 80% of my parts and started the build...I was going to start with a rtr that I bought but we started using the nitro at rhe track so I decided to build this project from scratch

Nice! Building my Revo from scratch was my favorite part!

jnev 04.17.2008 12:21 AM

Looks great so far!! My only recommendation is to make some sort of cover to block the holes/cut out underneath the spur gear. It seems that rocks can bounce up into it pretty easily. But other than that, awesome work!!

TDC57 04.17.2008 01:02 AM

Nice work Bustitup!!. I'm glad to see you finally rolling that bad boy along.. :yipi: Keep us updated!..

Thanks for sharing and have a great one.

still waiting for some stering parts, servo and the body (desert rat)

also if you read this mike...I need front and rear center driveshaft .....do you think I can find something that will fit or will I have to have it custom made

Sweeeet! It looks like it was meant to be that way!

neweuser 04.22.2008 01:19 PM

I like it, good job. I would find a way to make sure the front esc wires do not get entangled in the spur.... :)

Fkyx 04.22.2008 01:20 PM

Oh man. Today my ESC's receiver cable got caught in the spur and I ended up having to splice my first set of wires ever! It's no fun. :(

Arct1k 04.22.2008 01:43 PM

Sorry first I've seen this but drive shafts you just use 2 rear normal 3.3 driveshafts if IIRC.

What do each of the batteries power? If one esc is on lipo and the other NIMH I think you will get a bit of a mess...

neweuser 04.22.2008 01:45 PM

I think he is just getting the fitting down which is why you see two types of batts.

ok so your saying I should be able to use the standard split center shafts from a 3.3 revo?

yes batts will be the same type I was just checking the fit of 8 cell and a 8000 lipo

lol..yes I agree ..I have the gear cover for it

Arct1k 04.22.2008 04:28 PM

Yes but I think you need two of the longer ones...rears

Sammus 04.27.2008 03:38 AM

Shall I be the first to say you shoulda spent you money on a MM and a Neu instead  Haha just winding u up, should be fun to drive :P

bustitup 04.27.2008 05:39 AM

lol...thanks guys...its ok.... i'm sure the future for this ride will be a MMM set up

Sammus 04.27.2008 07:50 AM

Don't know if you figured out the driveshaft problem, but the 3.3 has the same length shafts front and rear (about 48mm) and the 2.5 had different front and rear (41mm front and 61mm rear). So maybe that explains why some people say run two rears.

IS there any difference in diameter though? (ie strength)

Sammus 04.27.2008 07:53 AM

Is that the 3905 tranny and the 3.3 (extended) chassis? Is there any trick to get it to fit the chassis? I want to do the same to mine so I can run batts either side.

Or to make sure you could use 2 rears from the 3905 max (about 100mm long)

Fkyx 04.27.2008 02:33 PM

Sick looking Revo!

Sammus: The 3905 centers are smaller in diameter than the Revo centers. I was able to run the longer Revo center and one of the 3905 centers with my 3905 tranny setup on the 3.3 chassis.

Sammus

its a 3906 tranny...I personal like it better because if your going to run two batteries the 3906 motor mount keeps the motors pretty much centered where the 3905 is lopsided and one of the motors will stop you from mounting a battery on that side

as far as it fitting ...look at post #2 in this thread and look at my under carriage you can see the trany placement ...just hold a emaxx tranny in the hole and you can see where it needs to be dremeled

yes I ordered a set of 3.3 revi drive drive shafts and if they wont fit i will order the two rear's off of a 3905 emaxx and trim them to fit

Thanks for the compliments guys....i'm real proud of this build from scratch...its very rewarding

Sammus 04.27.2008 06:27 PM

I read a build the other day that says you can use a standard revo shaft for the rear and a 3905 rear for the front.

I've got my gear on its way :) I'll be running a single motor, so I got the single motor plate mount for the 3905 tranny - looks like itll stick the motor in the middle. 6s2p A123 here we come :)

Mike_D 04.27.2008 08:17 PM

Great looking Revo! BTW what tires and wheels are those?

Sammus 04.27.2008 08:24 PM

Look kinda like axial truggy rims (lol not that they look heaps different - I think I can see a logo there) with proline LPRs. I run the same thing in white. Corrent me if I'm wrong :)

bustitup 04.27.2008 09:07 PM

yes they are Proline LPR series 1/2" offset wheels with crime fighters

yes this sounds like the best bullet proof setup along with the innards of the 3905 diff's....and eventually I will be going this way soon as I get tired of playing with the twin v's and they finally release the combo MMM

UPDATE

yes I got my stock 3.3 revo shafts and one of them worked on the rear of my truck the other was too short (good spare lol) so I ordered a set of center shafts from a 3905 to use the longer one for my front

so your read was right Sammus

big greg 05.03.2008 12:46 PM

i used a stock 3.3 axle for my front shaft, worked great, couldnt have been any wider tho lol

hmmmm I thought of that..what did you have to do to the axle end to make it work?...any pics?

I have an extra 3.3 axle shaft I could try while waiting for my emaxx shaft

so when you take off that blue rubber boot..the axle slides together right there?

suicideneil 05.03.2008 01:02 PM

Yep. The blue rubber boot kinda limits how long the shaft 'stretch'- if you need it to be longer just cut off the boot. If the shaft is too long, trim off the boot and the male half of the shaft, until it is short enough to fit.

big greg 05.03.2008 01:04 PM

yup i just cut it were it was glued, you do have to shorten it about a 1/2 inch for the ends i used the yokes from the old revo shafts and diffs, the tranny side i just cut the pins off and i had to shave the edges back on the output shafts on the tranny

big greg 05.03.2008 01:04 PM

damn fast brit typer!
