My Ass. TC4 speed project - 121.7mph so far
Hi!
I've been reading on this board for a few weeks now and i decided to put together a small project thread for my TC4. The car is a completly stock Associated TC4 with a Mamba Max 7700 kit in it. I run 2pcs of DesirePower 3700mAh 2S 25C LiPo's and the steering servo is Futaba 9550. The tyres are ATS foams. The body shell is a McAllister Oval body. I have tried a few differnt LiPo's, Orion 3200mAh 22C, Flightpower 3700mAh 25C to name a few. Both where new. And the DesirePower ones are simply in another leauge. Way more powerfull and gives alot more power under load. Very well priced too! Here are a few videos: 121.7mph: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=46ssLpgky5E 100mph crash hehe: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zAwSb...eature=related There alot more videos on the right on Youtube. I will try to break 200km/h this weekend because i am at 196km/h now :) Bye for now! |

@ lutach: Thank you for the welcomening :) 150mph here i come :yipi: Hehe nah but it will be fun to see how far you can go with the Mamba system. 134.4.. :P |
Slap a Neu 1527 in there......lol Shoot for 200....hehe.
Nice setup man, I'd hate to get hit by one of those cars when they go airborne. |
sh*t, THAT WAS FAST :surprised:
Damn, and it flies too :gasp: |
The car completly take off ... The most impressive is that's a nearly default setup a MM with 7700 kv motor.
Once again the famous rule, "the setup is as powerfull as the battery can supply" is true. |
I laughed out loud when that car took off the ground. That was great.
Where do you get your DesirePower lipos? Are they made from Enerland cells like the others? |
Welcome and very nice car!! Looking forward to some updates on new speeds. I am sure that crash gave quite a bit of damage... but I have to say, but watching it was absolutely awesome!! It just took off like 20 feet into the air!
|
Nice to have you here.
Sweet ride for sure! Enjoyed the videos very much. |
Didn't look too bad in the crash, seems like it lost alot of speed in the air...
|
Welcome and ... :gasp:!! That is just incredible. Keep us posted.
|
Welcome and Great Video man... I'm surprise that car can go that fast on 1400 Watts of power... Kick *ss...
Who makes the desirepower cells? Where do you buy from? They're made in China... I bet you the DesirePower are the same cells as the Zippy Lipos from HobbyCity... :) You found that the desirepower went faster than the FlightPowers?... http://www.desire-battery.com |

the last time I ran a brushless motor over 100000rpms, the magnets looked like sand....
|
You going to run your Neu over 100K?....lol
|
No way man... my neus will be around 45-50K rpms.... 100K is just asking for it..
|
Can Neu motors handle 100K rpm? Well if a Plettenberg can withstand 74K rpm and I see Mega claiming 75K and over 100K rpm due to them having Kevlar wrapped magnets, I think for a short moment a Neu can handle over 60K rpm and possibly 100K, because it has a Carbon Fiber wrapped magnet. The only problem at those speeds will be the ESC. Can it switch fast enough? Some controllers claim over 200K rpm with 2 pole and some can even do 70K+ with multi pole motors. Here is what the 100A HV controllers claim: Max Speed: 210,000rpm for 2 Poles, 70,000rpm for 6 poles and 35,000rpm for 12 poles.

Thanks for all the respons guys! :)

Yes they went faster than the FlightPower ones. Alot of very talented people that have run Flightpower all there lives have tested these back in Sweden and they all love them! Way more power than the Flighpower ones. Eagle Trees show the same result too. I don't know the distributer in the US but i know that autopartner.se takes international orders. Search for DesirePower in the search field on the top left. |
Great video vassmar. That's gotta be pretty scary (but cool) when something goes airborne at those speeds. What's the big ball at the end of the road to the right?

The dome at the end of the straight is some old military storage building. The place i am driving at are located in the middle of the woods where the miltary had/have alot of extra stuff and runaways. |

126.7mph / 204km/h! :D
All the small changes I made made those few km/h's at last. Now i don't now what the next goal is. Maybe i will try further with this setup or i will go HV with a Neu 15xx setup. We will see. Wow congratulations:party: Thant has to be the sweetest sounding rc car I have ever heard:intello: Almost sounds like an F1 car.
What changes did you make? |
What size spur/pinion are you using?
|
@ rcmonkey: Less drag on the body and less rollingresistance on the chassi.
@lutach: 35T pinion and 68T spur 48p. |
Sweet car, and good job getting it done basically stock!
On a side not, whenever I see your thread title in the new post list, I always see "My Ass", and then the rest of the title. The first time I thought you were saying that the car could not be going that fast, but then realized you menat associated. BTW the abbreviation for that is asc. |

How can this be, the car is NOT red.... must be something fishy.... <bg>

Very fast man but im wondering how accurate the venom thing is (IE wheelspin)?
My next project will also be a tc4, and would love to have a inexpensive build that can go 100+ MPH!! |
@ lincpimp: I've been trying to keep it as basic as possible. That's the cool part hehe.
Lol yeah, maybe i should change the topic name :P We always say Ass here in Sweden hehe. @ lutach: Oh okay coolers! I was using 3S too and it was plenty was then also. I will try to get hold on a slightly bigger pinion this week or so. Maybe my friend can make them at his work. This body was the best buy ever made lol. No but i think it's a good speed body. All the changes i've made to it have really worked out for the better too. @ miniGranis: Didn't understand that :P @ its me: I always get this question and all i can say that i've been more than precise with the rollout setting and that i pretty sure that i ain't getting any wheel spin too. I am very gentle with the throttle, as you may see in the videos. And all the runs i make are very consistant all the time. But sure, it's not as accurate as as radar gun. Go for it and build it! ;) |
Vassmar, have you used a radar gun or GPS?...
|
I definately want to see a radar pass, not the Venom. If I remember correctly, there is someone else who worked on a TC4 and clocked between 105-110 on a radar, yet clocked 140+ on the Venom due to wheel spin when the car would break a little traction. I personally did 102mph Tuesday night on a 5700 running 4S. I don't like to knock down anyone, but I have been working with Castle's help on this project for a couple of months and they assured me that the motors are only good for a max of 65k!! I logged 60k with the datalogger on my setup.....

Here is a sample vid of my car and after comparing, both cars do not look that far off from each other. I don't see the 30mph difference?? I could be wrong....... What do you guys think?? |
I do see a bit of a difference... but that could be from da/night, different camera FPS, etc.. but a radar pass or GPS pass would be killer...
|
Speedracer, you have a fast car don't get me wrong here, I can def see a difference between yours and vassmar's car though. It may not be 100% accurate with the venom setup but I would say he's pretty close.
|
Nice going, don't know how people manage to handle a 1/10 car going that speed. 70mph 1/10 is fast enough let along 120mph+

Any more info on your car btw? :) |
Vassmar, looks like between you and Mod man, there will be some competition for Nic Case. Congrats on the speed with a stocker RC
