Pics of my Savage waiting for the Monster

2 Attachment(s)
Got a Savage FLM conversion with my Neu 1527 motor just waiting for the Mamba Monster. I can't wait to plug in that 6S 5000mAH Flightpower and nail it.

jnev 04.26.2008 10:44 PM

Holy ****!!! :surprised: A 1527 will be more than nuts!! That thing will rip apart the diffs inside and out! Any close up pictures? Does the Neu 1527 fit fine without a problem... its not too long? Please get some video once it is up and running.

MTBikerTim 04.27.2008 02:36 AM

The 1527 is on stilts so it fits by the look of it. Can I post some pics of mine.

Electric Eel 04.27.2008 07:33 AM

I got the 1527 to go in a large scale plane, but I couldn't resist putting it in the Savage. I used hex standoffs from McMaster to lift the mount up and it fits fine. I do see a lot of broken parts in the future! It's all good though because I love wrenching as much as driving. 40 mph on Jumbo Kongs? Maybe!

MTBikerTim 04.27.2008 09:44 AM

I don't want to hijack the thread but here's another savage awaiting the monster. The motor ain't nearly as big though.

Looks great, Tim! LST shocks are the best.

lutach 04.27.2008 10:32 AM

I'll be watching this thread for a video .

jnev 04.27.2008 11:49 AM

I didn't notice the stilts, but I thought the motor was a little high... Would a 1521 fit without a problem... without any standoffs/stilts?

MTBikerTim - what are you using to mount the LST2/Muggy shocks? It looks like Electric Eel is using the FLM standoffs...

DRIFT_BUGGY 04.27.2008 04:27 PM

lol, be sure to post a vid up once going

I am using the Innovative RC mounting kit. It works well but requires the old 25 style arms.

I don't want to steal the thread either... but here are my pics. I will use the mmm combo or a Neu 1515/2D with monster max esc if I can get one...

I will mount the esc on top of the radio box on that velcro looking stuff, the balance plug you [dont] see if a cheap 3s lipo for my fan. The motor has a custom mount made out of angle stock and will be under an 80mm computer fan.

I have some cheap nimh's now, but I am hoping to get 6s2p a123 soon.

I want to see a vid of that monster truck on the top asap.:whip:

lincpimp 04.28.2008 09:12 PM

Heres a shot of my flm savvy. I was going to run a neu on 6s with the mmm, but decided an 1100kv aveox (1515 size) on 8s lipo with a cc hv85.

linc- those cen wheels and tires? they're huge!

MTBikerTim 04.29.2008 11:30 PM

I think they are. I want a set of those or a set of baja 5b rears on my savage.

I tought about that one too, but with the road set they have. I looked every where for a 24mm adapter, but no luck yet. Has anyone tried to fit this http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXMZG6&P=Z on a 1/8 scale? This could make a nice speed run tire http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXRMR5&P=Z.

MTBikerTim 04.30.2008 12:20 AM

Lutach, the site owner of HPI Baja Forum said he might make some wheel adapters for the baja to savage conversion. Not sure what axle type he will make them for if he does.

And someone is playing with the forum template so I apologise if the link hurts your eyes.

Yep, they are off the nemisis, kind of like giant bowties! I have a set of the chrome rim/chevron treads off the genesis too. They look much better, not so bland!

MTBikerTim 04.30.2008 12:31 AM

I prefer the white ones linc. I can't seem to find many of the white ones around though.

So has anyone really bashed or run their Savage with FLM chassis kit hard? I am interested in starting one in the future, but haven't really heard anything about how they run...

e-mike 04.30.2008 02:07 AM

I'll let you know after this weekend. Ask Dewmerz or anyone who works at my LHS and they'll tell you that I break everything. New Firestorm with an "indestructible" metal gear tranny? Broke all the diff gears. Brushless ready E-maxx? Snapped the rear axle, center driveshafts and a rear bulkhead. You name it, I've broken it.

So Dewmerz and I will hit our favorite bashing spot then probably head to the bmx park to see how high it'll fly. I'll see if I can beat Dewmerz's LSP2 record of about 12ft without breaking. :mdr:

jnev 04.30.2008 06:51 PM

Looking forward to how it does killjoyken!! Maybe get some pictures or video too?

MTBikerTim 04.30.2008 08:15 PM

I'm surprised that no one has really said how hard they can bash. Mine will be getting a beating once the MMM arrives so I will let you know. I will also try to get some decent video too. We have some nice jumps to use it on.

Cool. I can't wait to see the video. I tried some low speed jumps in my back yard and it tends to drop the nose a bit. Staying on the trigger a little after launch will make it jump level. The stock suspension does pretty well. I can drop it about 3-4ft without the chassis slapping so I'm pretty sure it can take the big air jumps I'm planning for it. I think the shocks will be the only weak points on this truck.

Also, could you please post when the Baja adapters are available? I really want to slap a set of Baja wheels with the new Badlands tires on this truck!

I'll see if I can get Dewmerz to bring out his video camera this weekend. I'm uploading some vids of my E-maxx to youtube right now and I'll post the links when I'm done.

Here ya go. My jumping technique has gotten a lot better. :)

Video camera will be charged and ready to go. I'm ditching work tomorrow so if you're up for it let's go. HB LS2P needs the tires re-glued and a quick review of the chassis to see if anything is bent but I'm ready to go.

Sweet, let's go tomorrow, I'm sick of working on my house.

Don't forget to add more cushion for your receiver and extra heatshrink on your bullets. I doubt anythings bent...your truck is tough!

suicideneil 05.01.2008 07:01 PM

jhautz- what shell is that, and wheel base please?
