Anyone want to sell me a123 cells?

As the title says, I am looking for a123 cells. They can be loose or in packs.

Thanks guys!

Ebay dude, dewalt.. $110 shipped... but you'll have to buy 4 Packs... :)

Arct1k 04.28.2008 08:14 AM

Hunt on EBAY I picked up packs for 80 shipped IIRC

lincpimp 04.28.2008 09:37 AM

I remember a guy who was selling the packs for 85 bucks shipped. He had a mini web site and everything. May have been a scam...

I don't know if that was a scam. A few people bought packs from him. Check out rcgroups.com and you can find more info there.

I have a number of loose developer cells I'm not going to need. How many are you looking for? I'll have to count what I got, and I want a few for spares, but I think I have ~10 or so.

He looked legit, and the price was good, not hard to belive. I had a look on rcgroups and pmed a few people. Check out my f1 car I have for sale, Lutach, you are an f1 fan!

I've been scouring relentlessly for a while and the best I can come up with is $15/cell at tanicpacks, or $16.50 at any other website that sells them loose.

Buying the dewalt packs isn't really a viable option in australia, theyre like $400 in store, and bay'o'evil sellers usually want ~$40 for shipping, plus the packs have been going for more than $100 lately. aircraft-world gives me $6 registered shipping for up to 2kg from japan. cant beat it :P

I am and I was . Confused, so am I . I used to watch F1 when Ayrton Senna used to race. I haven't watched a race ever since he passed away. I might start again as Massa is a OK driver. Which F1 do you have? Post a link please with photos.

I am a bit slow today, that was you selling the packs cheap?

kulangflow 04.28.2008 01:22 PM

I may have found a good local connection for the DeWalt packs on the cheap. I'll let you know if it pans out.

johnrobholmes 04.28.2008 01:27 PM

New dewalt packs are not coming with a123 inside, just an fyi. They are china made 10C nano phosphate.

$15 to $16 per cell is about average now, but if you can find some older dewalt packs you can get lucky.

suicideneil 04.28.2008 01:51 PM

You mean these things?: clicky

How do emoli cells compare, I've read a little about them, but havent seen any useful specs.

Do you know how you can tell the old from the new from the outside? I'd hate to buy a bunch of these and find out they have crappy cells in them. I may just have to buy the first one and rip it open to see what's in it.

Are the new 10C cells labeled as such?

Thanks.

suicideneil 04.28.2008 02:05 PM

I think the ones he's talking about are the same as I linked to- Sike has been testing them apparently.

suicideneil 04.28.2008 02:26 PM

At first glance, this doesnt look like much of a deal, but then compare it to this: clicky

4 x $44.87 = $179.48 vs $260 for 6s2p. Granted, you have to do some extra work yourself, and shippig costs havent been taken into account, but all the same...

johnrobholmes 04.28.2008 02:33 PM

The cells that are not a123 do not have the a123 burn in them, they are just plain looking cells. I do not know how much back stock has a123 cells in them, but it was an a123 rep that told me about dewalt switching brands. After all the drills don't need 40 amps all of the time.

suicideneil 04.28.2008 03:08 PM

Ahh, fair enough. That does royally suck though- any idea if the part number for the battery pack has changed, or if there's a clue on the sepc label etc? I'd hate to pay $12 for a cell only worth about $8 :(

johnrobholmes 04.28.2008 03:37 PM

I don't know, I get my cells loose now. I haven't bought dewalt packs for a while.

highflier 04.28.2008 08:51 PM

I am in the process of completing a purchase of dewalt packs.. Now I am really concerned. I hope that dewalt changes the pack part number to indicate the difference.

The 26650 cells that I've been playing around with are Chemically, A type of Lithium Ion. They are not the Nano Phospate cells.

Hey Linc, How many of the A123 cells do you need/want? I might know someone that has some.

Does that mean that the voltage per cell is more like the normal LION 3.7 vs the 3.3 I get out of the A123's?
