Which 1/10 stadium truck should I buy?

I can't decide which stadium truck to buy...

1. AE
2. Losi
3. Traxxas

I will be bashing mostly. I used to have an AE many moons ago..and I loved it . My friend has the Losi xxx and he likes it and my LHS carries Traxxas...too many choices:tongue: I plan on running a mamba set up on 2s...and hopefully my daughter will gravitate to it as well, so I could be in the market for two. I also plan on buying it in kit form so she can help build them.
Is there another brand you all would recommend and/or had good luck with. .......thanks for the input.

Well, Traxxas is only RTR so your out the kit there. That being said, for bashing it's the strongest platform. If you were racing the Losi or AE would be best but they don't hold up as well in general as the rustler.

magman 05.07.2008 08:49 PM

I was leaning that way because my LHS stocks them. I was hoping my daughter could help me build one just for her...she really likes to help me when I work on my other cars. But, the Rustler might be the best bet after all.

I like the AE personally. RC10T4

ls10 on rctech for 65 - you can't go wrong

jzemaxx 05.07.2008 09:40 PM

Rustler VXL would be my choice....stupid fast and handles very well.

Five-oh-joe 05.07.2008 09:49 PM

What about the E-firestorm? Looks stout, but doesn't look so "overweight" that it could do reasonably well on the track. It looks like a roided up racer IMO. Nice change from the Traxxas stuff too (I like the Traxxas stuff, but that 2.72 tranny needs a tighter case from the factory...).

azjc 05.07.2008 10:06 PM

Rustler VXL would be the most bang for the buck...and you can get them moving pretty fast...Tower has a $20 off if you spend at least $150

skellyo 05.07.2008 10:10 PM

IMO, you'd be hard pressed to beat the bashability (is that a word?!?) of a Rustler. I have 2 VXL Rustlers just to have a couple of vehicles I can bash extremely hard without much worry of breaking parts all the time.

Off topic question...your location says "On the cape"...any chance that's Canaveral?

Gee 05.08.2008 12:22 AM

If you looking for rustler in a kit form they are spread out on ebay. It would not be the same thing as a kit, but should end up being cheaper (shipping does add up though) if you shopped around she could help with. Ebay is full of chop shops. Not sure of her age but have her searching for the parts is a great way to get to know the part and also find out what else is available as a replacement or upgrade. Then you get the excitement of checking the mail to see if your shocks showed up yet. It also a good way build it right the first time. THe RTR are strong but there always improvements. You could download the exploded view and part list from the traxxas web site. Then use it as a scavanger hunt list.

I think the E-firestorm flux would be a great car, brushless (castle sidewinder knock off), T4 DNA and a fluid filled diff thats tunable, it looks like a great basher/racer

DRIFT_BUGGY 05.08.2008 05:47 AM

I want to try out the Jconcepts Buggy which is a T4 combined with their kit. Starting to become popular

Rustler VXL is also a great buy. $250 - Discount at Tower and if you don't want the ESC or Motor is the VXL it should sell pretty easy as the motor/esc in the VXL is common and sort after and retails for around $170

IMO you kind of answered your own question. Of course you can order just about anything over the internet now, but if your LHS has Traxxas then you can put your hands on almost any repair parts in just a few minutes. So the easy answer is stay with what your LHS has in stock. The after market products for the Traxxas line is pretty hefty and easy to get. Good luck with that.

I actually don't mind the look of the VXL Rustler with Stampede Tyres on

Rustler VXL, crazy fast and you dont have to worry about breaking anything. Its got to be the tuff-est RC on the market.

dirt101 05.08.2008 09:51 AM

I have owned MANY R/c and the rustler is the only one I havent sold. Actually its the only car I have right now(nitro crt on the way though). I had an xl-5 about 2 years ago, and I got my vxl after christmas and I love it. If you have lipos its the greatest thing since sliced break. Faster than hell, its tough from the factory, and only takes like $40 to make it industructable.

All I got on it is rpm arms, and rpm bearing cariers, on it and I beat the heck out of it. Only thing I ever break now are shock shafts.

bustitup 05.08.2008 06:55 PM

Just for the available parts factor..traxxas is the way to go..I have e-revo, nitro revo, emaxx, vxl rustler and vxl pede and any time I want a solid injection of all out rock throwing, wheel spinning, wheel standing fun I fire up the pede....zooming across the grass doing 60mph at the local prk people look at it awe...like wth is that thing...there the best entry level MT's on the market

Yeah, I have owned a few Traxxas vehicles over the years and combine them with RPM parts and they are Bomb-Proof

For bashing there's no question that I'd go with a rustler. The AE would be my choice for racing personally... but when it comes to bashing there's nothing better than a rustler or stampede. The fact that they offer RTRs with the velinion system is handy as well. Not that a sidewinder 5700 system costs much, but hey, it's one less thing between you and the trails/streets.

BL_RV0 05.09.2008 11:08 AM

I had a Rustler with a Sidewinder 5700 combo and 2s LiPo and I broke 2 steering blocks, a a-arm, a wheel, front bulkhead, and shock towers. I have since put the same system in a Stampede on 3s and haven't broken anything!

skellyo 05.09.2008 11:25 AM

My VXL Rustler has stood up to a beating very well...

Wow, I thought I was in the Traxxas forums. :na:

I'll put my vote in for the E-firestorm. One of the toughest trucks I've ever owned.

HPI plastic is a lot stronger than Traxxas plastic.

Xtremespeed 05.09.2008 03:31 PM

Definately Rustler. Pretty tough and makes a big difference to have replacement parts available locally. I hate ordering parts and waiting everytime I do break something. All of them break sooner or later and usually at the worst time.
