SoCal bash??

Any interested in one this summer? :yipi:

BL_RV0 05.09.2008 08:34 PM

Oh Yeah! Where are you located?

jnev 05.09.2008 09:54 PM

I am in San Diego, but would be willing to go to Orange County as it seems that is where the majority of the members here are.

big greg 05.09.2008 09:55 PM

well im in ohio, i dont think ill make it lol, would like to tho!

rschoi_75 05.09.2008 10:34 PM

I'd be interested. Sometime between july-aug would be ideal.

MetalMan 05.10.2008 03:07 AM

YES. And Orange County would be perfect .

TDC57 05.18.2008 02:47 AM

OOoooo Yahhh. count me in!!!..

Thanks for the thread Jnev..

Have a great one Gentlemen..

jnev 05.18.2008 02:51 AM

Orange Country works for me. And isn't there a new electric only indoor track opening there as well? Or maybe the outdoor one would be better for us all so we can run our bigger trucks as well...?

Anyway, I think we should start planning the date for some time early July. What do you guys think? Any idea's for an exact day and date to plan it on? Friday... Sat... Sunday...?

BL_RV0 05.18.2008 10:57 AM

I guess I could go to OC but I am building a track in my backyard, so I am a little biased. I live very close to Malibu, if you guys are interested in coming up here.

rschoi_75 05.18.2008 11:44 AM

Sunday would be good since most of the tracks in so cal hold races on Saturday's. Anywhere around LA/OC is fine w/ me. I'll be coming from the pasadena area. As for the date, mid to late july works best for me, but I'll show up on whatever day you guys decide; as long as I can make the time.

TDC57 05.19.2008 01:08 AM

Good evening gentlemen,
Where ever and when ever is fine for me!, I'm just excided about getting out with some fellow family members and having a great time..

There is a new local track opening up in (HB) in two weeks so I'll update the team and shoot some pics out once I have the opportunity to run it..

P.S.
I'll bring the recorder and a cooler of beer!

Have a great one gentlemen..

BP-Revo 05.19.2008 01:51 AM

I'm in for this one. Just tell me the date.

drkros3 05.19.2008 12:22 PM

im in! my savage should be fully dont by then too.

jnev 05.19.2008 07:40 PM

How does mid July sound? I was thinking something like the 13th or 20th... both are on a Sunday. Does that work for most of you? Or maybe earlier in July like the 5 (Saturday) or the 6th (Sunday)...

How about everyone posts the date they think is best for them and everyone else, and then we'll see the day that the most people can make it.

So the people that seem to be coming so far are:
jnev
rschoi_75
TDC57
MetalMan
BP-Revo
drkros3
BL_RV0 (maybe)

I am sure that there are more than just these 7 people that are close to Orange County...

Good morning team..
I can do it the 13th or the 20th. Wide open and cleared it with the wife,:yipi: hope one of those dates works for others.. I'm really looking forward it..

Thanks for your time team and have a great one..

drkros3 05.20.2008 01:03 AM

im cool for any date.

rschoi_75 05.20.2008 10:41 AM

Either the 13th or 20th is good for me as well.

Matthew_Armeni 05.20.2008 11:17 AM

Hey jnev, I'm pretty sure I can get close to 8 guys out there running brushless. Maybe ARC will be up and running by then. That will pretty much be the track to go to when it opens.

There is an indoor track opening up by the end of this month. However, they have a major problem - pricing. Check it out:
http://ocrcraceway.com/membership.html
It's kinda hard to tell from the website, but it appears that a $40 membership will be mandatory to even drive on the track, and then it will be $10 more for a day of practice. I can find out whether my assumptions are true or not and report back.

The 13th and 20th are both open for me currently, and will probably stay that way. If anyone has any opposition to either date, let it be known!

Where is ARC? To me ARC stands for Anteater Recreation Center, which is the gymnasium/sports complex at UCI that I go to.

drkros3 05.20.2008 05:17 PM

no i dont think you need a member ship its just 15 for all day pratice if you are not a member.

jnev 05.20.2008 06:26 PM

ARC is actually the new track that will be in Temecula and is supposed to replace the old one that closed (forgot name of old one). But it looks like 13th and 20th seem to be the best days for everyone.

Now the next step is to decide where. Revelation Raceway seems to be a very nice track, but is also pretty far for those from San Diego, although I can probably make it, as I would stay overnight in OC at some relatives house... Even from OC it is like an hour or something away. OCRC raceway may be another candidate but from the video I saw of it, it looks quite a bit too small for any mt's, truggies, or similar sized rc's. I guess its all right though if you have a 1/8 buggy or smaller rc's. I personally would run my CRT.5 and my rc18t there, but my Revo would probably be too big, although I would probably bring it just to try.

What do you all think? Any suggestions of where to have it?

drkros3 05.20.2008 06:51 PM

i live right next to revelation race way. and there is always tons of people there. so i think if like all of us went there it would just get really packed.

rschoi_75 05.20.2008 06:59 PM

How about at The Dirt? They have $5 open practice on sundays from 11am-4pm according to their website. I've never been there, but from what I can see in their gallery, the track is made for 1/8th scale. I know these guys are a popular track so it may be crowded as well.

*edit* HotBox may be a good option as well since its right in between LA and San Diego. The track looks like a 1/10th track though. Or.... we could go to SV Speedway in LA. That's a 15 min drive from where I'll be staying. :yipi:

Here's a list of tracks ripped from a rctech thread:

Revelation in Ontario
http://www.revrace.com/

HotBox in Santa Ana
http://www.hotboxrc.com/

SV Speedway in Sun Valley/Burbank
http://www.onlinerc.com/

Crystal Park raceway in Compton
http://crystalparkrcraceway.com/

The Dirt in Hemet
http://www.thedirtracing.com/

Hot Rod Hobbies in Saugus
http://www.hotrodhobbies.com/Main_frame.htm

Thunder Alley in Beaumont
http://www.thunderalleyrcraceway.com/

jnev 05.20.2008 07:22 PM

I think LA is too far for everyone... except you that is. But anything between there and San Diego seems to be fine. I think The Dirt is the track that may have closed, and now ARC replaced it. Here is there website:
http://arcraceway.com/
And here is where it is being talked about, as well as more and better pictures:
http://www.rctech.net/forum/showthre...=196269&page=5
It should also be open by the end of the month, so it will definitely be open by mid July when the bash is...

TDC57 05.20.2008 08:59 PM

Well for it’s worth, I’ve got a suburban that will hold 6 adults + driver and all of the MT/buggies.. I live in orange country so we can meet at my house and head out from there?? (Just a thought).. Regardless I'm in..

Question for the team, how about a large open bashing area. I can call some of my dirt bike ridding buddies and see if they of any areas between OC / SD ??? (Again just a thought)..

Have a great one..

Shaun.

jnev 05.20.2008 10:47 PM

I personally would actually prefer just a huge spot to bash. Maybe find a place with some sand dunes or similar... some of us can bring some plastic ramps, etc.

Carpooling sounds good, depending how far the place that we will go to is. And please do ask your dirtbike friends TDC57 about some places. I know some nice placed to bah at in San Diego, but I think more people would show up if it were in OC (between LA and SD).

My calender is marked for the 13th and 20th so either day is fine for me.

i think that would be a lot funner then going to a track and racing. we need to find jsut a open place with jumps and just BASH lol. maybe we can have a bbq too . just a thought. lol

MetalMan 05.21.2008 12:13 AM

Unfortunately the Hot Box dirt track (1/8 outdoor) has been closed for over a year due to noise complaints by a bitch neighbor. The owner (Cruz) has a new location and is currently cleaning up the lot in preparation for a new track to be built there. It's going to take a while for the Hot Box to open up again.

Revelation is a nice track, but as mentioned it is far away (45mins for me when cruising at 85mph on the freeway!), and tends to be crowded. When Mike came out here he and I met up at Revelation for a night of track running. It was fun :)..

I don't mind driving, though. Heck when Mike was out here I made three separate trips to and from Ontario/Pomona, with two of those trips taking 2+ hours in one direction due to traffic.

If we decide to do a bash instead of running at a track, there's a pretty nice spot right next to my house. Michael (BP-Revo) and I have bashed at this park a couple times. Here's a video to check out the park:
http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...JIbsqgORlMipCQ
The dirt is totally movable, so making large jumps would be no problem . Just a suggestion.

TDC57 05.21.2008 02:53 AM

Hey Metal Man.. Nice Vid!..
That place looks cool... I'll still check with my buddies on a spot but that one works for me..

I'll update the team with any suggestions that come fourth in the mean time, for now your spot has my vote!!

Thanks for your time Gentlemen..

Have a great one..

jnev 05.21.2008 10:20 AM

The spot has my vote too. Plus, it is very close to my relatives house. So not much driving to get there. Plus, it looks to have room for any size rc there, from 1/18 to 1/5...

drkros3 05.21.2008 12:22 PM

im down with that spot too.

rschoi_75 05.21.2008 05:34 PM

I'm cool with park bashing. Sounds like fun. A BBQ would be great as well. I'd be down to bring some food and drinks. MetalMan, does that place have grills, or would we need to bring one?

No grills there, but there are two public tennis courts .

The terrain at that park is rough in some areas, and has really loose dirt in some spots. It makes for interesting driving, and can actually require driving skill :surprised:.

jnev 05.21.2008 06:00 PM

A BBQ would be nice. I don't know if I could bring any food, but I know I'll be able to bring a plastic launch ramp (like the 1 foot ones you see in many video's) and possibly a shovel to build a landing or another jump.

MetalMan 05.22.2008 12:29 AM

Just got a response back from the owner of OCRC Raceway, you DON'T need a membership to run on the track. But without a membership practice is $15/driver/day.

rschoi_75 05.22.2008 03:23 PM

I'm liking the park idea more and more. I like the idea of having no rules, no fees, and just a large area where we could just hang out and shoot the sh*t. My only concern would be the city's policy on rc's and public parks. I know a lot of places that won't allow them. It would be a real bummer to drive an hour then get told to leave after 10 minutes of bashing. Either way, I'm in. I may even be able to bring some buddies that know absolutely nothing about rc... we can use them as marshals.

Have a good one gents.

TDC57 05.22.2008 03:56 PM

I've got two plastic ramps and small Weber BBQ I can bring..

I've never had any issues with the local authorities, they usually want to drive it for a few, but mine are all electrical so I’m not sure about their thoughts on Nitro??.

Have a great one and (yes) please bring some marshals:party:

jnev 05.22.2008 06:34 PM

So I guess LeBard park it is. We still have to decide what date (13th or 20th) though... both are totally fine with me. I think we should start making a list of what everyone will be bringing... what rc's and other stuff like ramps, grill, food, etc. You can just copy and paste the list and add it in your own response.

jnev: Revo, CRT.5, RC18MT(all brushless), 1ft tall plastic ramp, shovel

BTW guys, feel free to bring any rc item you have whether it is a plane, heli or whatever, even if its nitro, so hopefully the noise of nitro won't be too big of an issue. This is just a friendly get together for the RCM crew.
