Gorilla Snawt Review

1 Attachment(s)
This is an RC specialty grease with a gross name! It was designed specifically for the E-Maxx tranny and RC diff ring and pinions. It has Teflon, is waterproof and stays in place even at 30,000 rpms. I use it in my BL Maxx tranny and on my Savage diffs and it works better than anything I have tried. It stays in place and does not get flung off even after multiple runs. I can crack the case after a run and the gears are still slick. It works better than Associated black grease and all the auto parts store lithium and moly greases I have tried. The guy only sells it on eBay, but for about 5 or 6 bucks a tube including shipping, it is well worth it.

Ive been looking at this thing for quite some time. But didn't manage to get more info or review about it. It seems to be so "tacky", wouldn't this cause some drag in the gears? Im really interested to try but not sure. Anyone else use this?

bl-is-future 05.16.2008 01:16 PM

i just watched a review on this in rc car action youtube channel. think i may get some now since i am hearing more and more good things about it.

Arct1k 05.16.2008 01:23 PM

I recently swapped to the Honda Moly 60 and it seems great - Pain to get off hands though!

Fkyx 05.22.2008 09:20 PM

I run snawt in my trannies, and I love it!

Palmolive will help with cleaning greases off of your hands.

Larrydino 07.06.2008 12:38 PM

i have used the snawt in 2 v-twin builds...i can't say enough good things about it...

i normally run my trucks back and forth on asphalt....so, transmission noise is very obvious and loud.....when i switched to snawt, the noise was almost gone...

the best thing about it is that it wont fling off the gears like a lithium or molybdenum based product will do....that's the key...as far as any "frictional" drag, i haven't noticed any..

i intend to rebuild my e-revo with the new KD CHASSIS, and will redo the tranny with snawt then

TruckBasher 07.06.2008 01:40 PM

I've been checking this out for a while now and test it, but I can seem to find an online shop except for the ebay store. The problem is that the shipping cost more than the product itself.

TDC57 07.06.2008 08:14 PM

I've got to get me some of this stuff.

George16 07.07.2008 12:17 AM

I had been using it on all my trucks and I'm very satisfied with the results.

TruckBasher 07.07.2008 12:37 AM

OT: Buy any chance you have links (except ebay ones) where to get this...

sjcrss 09.01.2008 03:02 PM

I just recently purchased a tube of the snawt...and used it in my erevo tranny, and it made it alot quieter and smoother as well..... was worth the price...but kinda stinky.....lol

danhfvcsd 09.02.2008 03:44 AM

Just ordered a tub then... how would it go in diffs?

sjcrss 09.02.2008 07:20 PM

Im not to sure about the diffs....you could use it on the ring gear and pinion gear, and fill the inside of the diffs with the diff fluid of your choice....I havn't yet messed with the diffs in mine..... I'm leaving them alone for the time being....till they need replaced or need something to do in the winter...

jhautz 09.02.2008 08:03 PM

:great: I'm with you. Great stuff. I bought 1 tube and loved it, then bought a few more. A couple in the pit box and a couple for the bench. I use it to lube anything that needs lube and is sealed from dirt.

A+ stuff IMO.

danhfvcsd 09.03.2008 03:01 AM

thanks sjcrss - i actually emailed em about usage in diffs (why it escaped me earlier i have no idea), and this was their reply for anyone interested =)

Dear danhfvcsd,

If you have a gear set diff like a rock crawler, it is perfect. If it is a spider set type diff, then it is not "fluid" enough. It is equivalent to a 100W oil for viscosity, but it is not fluidic like an oil or standard diff lube to always "flow" around the spider gears.

oh - and my tub was already in the post before i woke up this morning, after ordering it last night as i was posting my previous post in this thread - I got a tracking number and all, which i didn't expect too, sweet! =)

e-rev project 09.03.2008 02:14 PM

+1 just got my 26cc tub. i skipped the small tubes on all of your praise for the product and im glad i did, its now going in all transmissions :yipi:

GOOD STUFF

sjcrss 09.03.2008 06:45 PM

wow....26cc, that is a heck of alot of SNAWT you got there....

danhfvcsd 09.04.2008 02:44 AM

dayum, maybe i got too much then judging by that response... i got the 2oz/52cc tub...
It wasn't expensive though (somewhere around the 30 dollar mark incl shipping), and being in Australia, i figure i won't need to order any more for a fair while, and i can share the love with mates i guess =)

danhfvcsd 10.14.2008 04:08 AM

sorry to double post, but thought i might bump it =)
I found 2 pics i took a while ago when my tub came in, but forgot to upload em till just now -lol- Dunno if they're any use to anyone - but i know i was curious to see how big it was gonna be hehehe

Here's my 52cc tub next to a standard sized servo...

Plenty of grease to last a while =)

BrushlessReady 06.13.2009 05:34 PM

i have been running gorilla snawt in my rustler for a little while now and it is great. It is a little thick for a rustler's standards and i have seen a little bit of my temps going up on my motor, but overall it is great.

yes this stuff is a bear to get off your hands and for that reason i use a tool to apply it rather than my hands

this is the 26cc container of it that i got from ebay for about 15 bucks shipped.
sorry for the bad quality i used my phone

i do like that they don't rip you off by getting container with the bottom being a quart inch up from the bottom of the walls. Also they stuff this thing full to the brim

iTz Nicholas 07.12.2009 10:45 PM

I feel bad for the gorillas...

JK but I'm going to try a small tube for my RC18T. The diffs are really loud and I hate using AE black grease because it gets into the ball diffs and makes them feel gritty and I have to rebuild them quicker.

Slowkrawl 07.23.2009 06:50 PM

Could something like this be used on a pinion and spur? I have been eating up a few of them on the flux, and I am not sure if it's improper meshing or if it's just the way it is...

Bondonutz 07.23.2009 07:20 PM

I've ben using a product I get through work and it's identical, great stuff. I've ben using this stuff for years wouldn't think of using anything else for trannys, diffs gears. I use for building shocks buy applying to O-rings instead of Associated green slime. I use anywhere I would use white Lithium grease also.
Yes super sticky at first, get a little heat from using and it smooths out slippery slick but hangs on,sling resistant.

shaunjohnson 07.29.2009 04:52 AM

this stuff kicks nuts!
i use it on all the tranny gears like the 3905 emaxx tranny (duh lol) and the diffs, world of difference and lasts for ever!

simplechamp 01.28.2011 07:41 PM

I thought I would dig up this thread up since I just received a tub of the stuff today. I had been using GMK Supply Mobil 1 grease, and while it worked pretty well, it would still fling off of the ring and pinion. With my new on-road build I wanted it to be quiet as possible, so along with a plastic spur I'll be trying this out on the ring and pinions.

Everyone still using Gorilla Snawt?

OldGuyBL 01.28.2011 07:55 PM

Just starting using this stuff about 2 months ago. Simplechamp, you will NOT be disappointed! This stuff is great! Stays where you put it and does not fling off. I love it and use it on my Flux and Baja. Top notch, thanks for the review!

I will add that I have been using for about 2 years and love it.
