Hacker C50 Maxx
Theirs a new one at my LHS that is being sold for $50. I plan to go and pick it up this weekend sometime. I plan to run it on 5s and not 4s which is the limit. I think it'll be fine.
|
How many rpm is it turning on 5s?
|
What is the name of the shop - Will they ship - Just kidding but that is a steal - get down there quick... Just have to watch the shaft as I recall it is 1/8th... Rgds
|
Kv on the standard "C50 Maxx" is 3033
I would not recommend 5s unless it's in a (relatively) light vehicle with suitable gearing for the +50000rpm it will spin. Mine ran hot in my racing emaxx with 12 cell nimh, back in the day. Around the 180-190 range after a good 5 min run in the summer. I'm interested though to see how it does for you. |
No offense, i understand what u get for the price, but why not just get the motor with the right specs.. its not worth 50 bux if its blown up
|
I'd assume it's going into his Cen Matrix truggy. From what he has told me, a velineon motor does not even have heat problems in that thing, so I'd assume it's pretty dang light.
|
The c50 maxx is a good 4s motor, not sure if I would try 5s, but at 50 bucks it is not too expensive. Do not use this motor without a slipper, as the 1/8" shaft will break. I broke one shaft in my hyper7. The shafts are hardened, and quite brittle, I even tried to weld another piece back on and have it machined, but that did not work either. Tekno sells a 5mm upgrade shaft for $75, that plus the $50 makes $125, still a good deal for that motor.

How many C50s does your LHS have?
|
Only one lutach, :) I know I could not beleive what he wants for it either. I plan to go pick it up this weekend. Ill let you guys know. I might run it in the metrix but im doubting it. Linc Ill take a look into that upgrade. Still sounds like a great deal!
|
Hey linc, could you give me a link to the 5mm upgraded. I cant seem to find it...

I really want to know were you can get the 5mm upgrade. If I could get that I will run it on the matrix for sure.
|
Found the upgrade- http://www.impaktrc.com/product_info...osCsid=d5e22ae
The rotor looks tiny for the size of the motor... |
How much do hackers run with the 5mm NIB?

Thanks for the email addy lutach!
The c50 maxx uses a s can length rotor in a l length can. Basically gets higher rpm from using the smaller rotor. You could buy a l can rotor and put it in the hacker, which should give you around a 2000kv motor. The windings appear to be a 13l, but the lighter, smaller rotor ups the kv rating. Do you know what the l length rotors cost lutach? |

I have a 13l, 14l, and an 8l, and the 8l has much thicker wires coming out of it. |
Thanks a bunch lutach. Thats the first upgrade I plan to get for sure when I get the hacker.

One more question... Ive heard that the feigao L series rotors will fit into the hacker c50 motors. Is this true?

Hmmmm... Good point! I will keep an eye on the hacker 5mm upgraded rotor as well.

Got an email reply, here it is:
James, Yes we do sell a rotor that is 5mm in size for the C50 Maxx motor. The C50 L rotor will not work with the C50 Maxx motor for it has a special magnet length. The 5MM rotor would be $75 Best Regards, Kyle Bergstrom Aero-Model/Hackerbrushless USA Repair Dept. Manager www.hackerbrushless.com www.Aero-Model.com 2122 W. 5TH PL. Tempe AZ 85281 |

Wow. I should reply to Kyle now and see if he still can do his $50 for the rotors . Good thing I save most of my e-mails . Might be because I was going to buy 2. |

This is just an observation.. but a $50.00 motor which will require a $50.00 upgrade and will STILL be a very high kv wind if used.. Doesn't it make more sense to just opt for a Medusa Afterburner instead?

I agree that Hacker C50's are nice. As well, I have a nice vintage Tamiya Avante with an original gold Tamiya 1200 battery and a Tamiya Dynotech 02H motor. The Tamiya Durga I just picked up with a MM5700 and 3s Zippy lipo cost a fraction of what the Avante is worth. I'm sure you know where I'm going with this..
|
Yep, you are basically saying that there are better options than the hacker, for the same price. I agree, but still like the hacker. I ran mine til the shaft broke in a hyper7 and the performace was great, and it ran cool. I now run a c50 8l on 4s in that buggy. Gearing is low, 11/46, but that buggy flies, and the equipment seems to be ok! Not a common setup, but works great for me.
The c50 line are very well made, I have a few and have had excellent power and service out of them. They are a bit overpriced new, especially compared to the medusa motors, which appear to be the perfect motor, cheap and powerful/effecient. I wish someone would directly compare them to a neu. I guess I could do that, just need to buy a 1512 1500kv motor to compare to the 36/60/1500 I have. The neu is twice the price, and i really do not see it performing twice as good in a buggy. |

Good news. Bought the motor hacker yesterday and I couldnt be happier. Very nice internal and external build. Never seen anything like it. Ill see if i can get some pics of it here soon.

Thanks again lutach. I doubt i'd be able to get anything for the stock 3.2mm rotor.
|
I have a couple C50 motors... one with a snapped shaft. I ran a Feigao rotor in it... and it ran fast and hot until I finally killed it. It wasn't worth spending $100 to fix it... but $50 sounds much better.
I would like to see how it would run on 3s in a light buggy. I think it's too hot for the 4s I was running. It was hella fast and ran hot with the Feigao rotor. I've been curious to see how a new Hacker rotor would compare to what I had in it. |
