Traxxas vileon limits?
Hey guys, i just wanted to know if the Traxxas vileon ESC can handle 5s? i know my MM can and uses the same 25v components... i might be getting myself a vxl rustler here in a bit
I wouldnt count on it....I hated the VXL ESC, I broke the connectors off of the ESC the first time I ran it, went to MM and never looked back
Has an overvoltage and wont let you use anything past 3s.
ok, anyone know what the rpm limit of the MM esc is?

wow!! does anyone know if the VXL motor can handle 65k rpm?
Maybe for a little while before it conks out, but that's definitely over its rated limit (if it's rated at the same RPM limit as most feigaos). It's got a larger diameter rotor than a CMS motor, so you'd definitely be pushing the envelope running that motor that fast. Current draw would be hell too at the voltage required to get the motor up to around 65k RPM.
lol its only 5s :D
That's "only" a possible exploded rotor...:mdr: Feigao rotors suck; I already had a 20x45mm feigao's rotor go boom on me running 3s in my Trinity NOW (stock setup from the factory at that too!).
Meh... |
I heard that the rotors in the Vxl are higher quality
Physics doesn't care...:mdr: It's not a kevlar or carbon fiber wrapped rotor, so I still say it'll crap out.
It may not do it immediately, but the forces are that much greater when you spin it a little under twice what it normally spins in the VXL setup (35k RPM vs. 65k RPM). It becomes a question of "how much sooner" as opposed to "if". You can take the chance if you want though. Gotta post pictures once it does go kablooey though....hehehe. |
hehe i know, i might get a Rustler vxl, probably gonna get a 3300mah zipy 3s pack for it
I've seen a VXL rotor split allready. They are not high rpm motors. They are cheap for a reason.
hehe i gues its telling me to get a 1509
Does anyone know how the Vxl esc will handle multipole motors?
Why do you want to use the VXL esc? You have a MM that can handle 5s, the MM is alot more adjustable and it can handle multipole motors:wink:
If you want a cheaper option than the Neu 1509 take a look a this: It can handle up to 74k rpm http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...cn10car&cat=20 |
well because i want to keep the MM in the raze and the vxl esc comes with the truck. i like that mega :D
I know this is old but does anyone know if they VXL esc will handle 4pole motors like Neu's?
Yes they do run 4pole motors. I have one pushing a Medusa 36x60x2000 in my slash. Its pretty lame right now geared 17/40 on a 3s. Here is a clogging test I shot at lunch.

Ok. I may have a bad connection then. It was acting funny trying to run my Neu 1509.
Direct solder the motor wires...
Also may want to check your main plugs. Plus you most likely have it geared to high and have bad bearings, plus water in the tires! |

as far as what a velineon motor can handle, with a motor fan, very brief bursts on 5S. meaning 6-7 seconds at a time, max. Even after that, you're gonna already be about 185-190 degrees. i've gotten one up to 245 degrees by running 3 speed passes on 5S. it's a very fine line since their only supposed to be running 50K max rpms and their rpm limits aren't very forgiving. mambas have been known to far surpass their rpm limits and the new bearings they have in their motors make them able to handle very very high rpms for short periods of time. most of the TC3-4 -5 guys are runnning the 7700 or 5700's and regulary run them on 4-6S |
I killed a vxl motor on 4s before the batteries could go dead. The vxl esc can hardly run the vxl motor and stay cool. The mamba maxx esc can run 5s only with a external bec.
I would not recomend running the vxl esc or the vxl motor beyond recommended specs. They just cant handle it. |
I ran the 1509 on the VXL esc again and it didnt seem to work right. It was like it was hitting a rev limiter and the speeds weren't anywhere near what they should be. I don't think the VXL will run a Neu properly.
So I took my MMM out and soldered some 6.5mm connectors to the 1509 and install this combo. Took a few test runs on 3s and everything worked fine! |
