Cabo San lucas is fantastic.. I go there at least once a year.. The water is 80+%, it extremely safe and clean, lots for partings and other thing / adventures to do. The scuba diving is fantastic, dirt bike / horse back riding on the beach, wave runner rental, fishing, golfing, shopping, etc, ect..

Good luck and save travels..

BP-Revo 05.19.2008 01:51 AM

Too bad Cabo San Lucas is in Mexico and not the United States...

I'd go to Florida, my favorite place to vacation in the US so far...

asianplayer 05.19.2008 01:52 AM

Ummm TDC57, i dont think cabo is in the US. But anyways i would go to cali and disneyland, but that may not be your cup o tea. But anywhere on teh coast is normaly a good bet. Florida perhaps?

lincpimp 05.19.2008 02:41 AM

Vegas, if you have not been there you need to go, great for familys too as there is tons to do. I do not gamble at all and love it there. Been there twice and would go back right now. All of the buildings and landscaping are amazing, you can see the money everywhere. Tons of shows, shopping, museams, rides, you name it. It does get hot, but you can do stuff all hours, nothing casino based ever seems to close. This time last year I was there for my birthday. We were up till 6am at the ghost bar, 55 stories up on the palms. Went to see a few shows, walked the strip, and just checked out the casinos. Had a killer time! I know your mom would love it! The place is so clean too, not what i expected at all.

I have been everywhere else, and would go back to disney world again, but it is a bit expensive. Vegas is not really expensive, room rates are cheap, under 100 a night, and food is cheap too. Disney is expensive, but worth it.

You could hit up the capitol (DC), or ny city, but my vote goes to vegas!

JERRY2KONE 05.19.2008 07:08 AM

Depends.

This all depends on timing and interests. Vegas is a great place to spedn some time. Besides the casinos there are tons of really cool shows to see. Concerts every week, but you have to look up who is in town at that time. We are going there in July and we have seats on the tonight show to see Jay Lenno, and also the Wayne Brady show. We love the weather and we always walk away winning something on the slots. last year we both hit over $500 and paid for the whole trip. If you like NASCAR you can plan a trip to one of the tracks for the weekend events. The Track in Charlotte, NC is very cool, and they have a track tour for $5 that takes you onto the track for a lap at 90mph. So it depends on your interests and what you like to do. I used to live in Orlando and there is tons of stuff to do there. Seattle is beautiful and the have all kinds of tours to take. You can do the Hollywood visit and do the tour of the stars thing. To some it is kind of hoakie, but to some it is fun. What kind of stuff can you do that your mom will enjoy? Surfing, hang gluiding, water skiing, theme parks, racing schools, arts, plays, Broadway musicals.

The french quarter in new orleans is making a comeback. If you havn't been, it's an awesome place to visit ;). Taking my wife back there as soon as we can afford to go.

I am just north on New Orleans. I have spent many a night walking thru the quarter drunk! One of the few places you can drink in the street. Not sure if i would take my mom there. During the day it is ok, plenty to do.

azjc 05.19.2008 10:53 AM

my first thought was Vegas..I go there 2-3x a year, I usually drive.... its a nice drive in the desert (5 HRs)...I am good for 3-5 days and than it starts to be time to go home.

DickyT 05.19.2008 11:10 AM

+1 on Florida, you can either do the theme park thing in Orlando or for a real getaway go to the Keys. Senoritas, margarita's, sand and water!

skellyo 05.19.2008 11:11 AM

Guys, don't forget that he's not 21. I doubt he'll enjoy going anywhere where it's not enjoyable to be unless you're of drinking or gambling age.

rschoi_75 05.19.2008 11:47 AM

What state do you live in t-maxx? What do you and your mom enjoy doing together?

Since I'm a cali guy, I would suggest San Diego or San Francisco if you've never seen them. Not a big fan of LA right now, since the heat and smog are at peak levels this time of year (although the smog isn't bad right now, summer is does get nasty at times).

I'm a huge fan of all things Vegas, but I would agree that its not the best place to be when you're under 21.

t-maxxracer32 05.19.2008 12:10 PM

i live in arizona (3 hours from sandiego) so pretty much that is out of the picture.

my mom loves outdoor hikes and seeing the sights and that type of stuff.

i was thinking of newyork but im sure it would be expensive as hell.

anywhere its snowing right now? we like skiing and snowboarding.

i dont even care if i go somewhere where theres not much to actually do. just being able to snowboard ski hike and do all that with my mom would be awsome.

lutach 05.19.2008 12:21 PM

South Florida.

It isn't snowing in New York (well upstate might have a few flurries today in higher elevations). But when you say NY is expensive.. How expensive is to expensive? Are you looking at the City? Or upstate NY? there are a few hotels in lower manhattan or queens (queens isn't that bad as long as you don't get lost and wander aimlessly) that aren't to pricey, check out the travel websites. Other then hotel, if you go to NY take the subway everywhere, it goes everywhere it is safe and cheap (~10 bucks for an all day ticket compaired to $20 for one cab ride). Plus there are tons of museums (I recomend the USS Intrepid Air and Space Museum as well as the Metropolitan Museum of Art), Central Park, ect. NYC is only as expensive as you want it to be, there are plenty of free, or low cost things to do, and plenty of expensive things to do. If you want to see Upstate, or Hudson Valley things aren't that expensive. I live in upstate and visit NYC at least once a year, so if you want any info I can try to help.

t-maxxracer32 05.19.2008 12:32 PM

well I figured everything was just expensive in ny so I didn't even wanna think about it
anyone know how to get oprah tickets?
my mom loves that show but I think itd be near impossible to get them only a month or 2 in advance..

Arct1k 05.19.2008 12:40 PM

Guys you missed the point! The RCMonster annual bash in NY!

Some sights and rc racing!

JERRY2KONE 05.19.2008 12:45 PM

Research.

You can actually get tickets on line if you have a credit card. We just made reservations for the Jay Leno show in Vegas for our trip in July. Just look up the Opra show for ticketing. You can also tkae her to a Broadway show women love that sutff. If you go to Floida anytime this summer it is going to be really hot. Going to any of the parks there will be a miserable experience waiting in lines for an hour or two. If you go to Daytona there is the speedway and musium there plus the beach, but it is going to be very hot this year by the looks of things with the weather.

JERRY2KONE 05.19.2008 12:46 PM

good thinking

Now that is a good point. Race/bash during the day and take Mom to the shows at night.

cmcclive 05.19.2008 02:48 PM

Isn't there anywhere in the rockies where is snows all year round? I know there are glaciers in northern montana

JERRY2KONE 05.19.2008 03:08 PM

Huh???

Are you trying to tell us something on the sly??? Your going to Europe or did I miss the joke on that one? Look HARPO up on the net and see what you come up with. Her show may be one of those where you have to stand in line to get tickets and be on the show. Doesn't she film in NY every week? I am not to sure. I know Jay Leno is in Vegas in July. Good luck finding good snow in the middle of summer in the USA...

I would highly suggest going to Yellowstone if you have not been. It's in Wyoming and usually fairly chilly, though it's been a while since I've been there. I have gone like 5 times though, and there is always something more to do there. We've stayed in several places, the Snow Lodge cabins, by the lake, and in the Inn, and staying in the Old Faithful Inn is my personal favorite. Everything is so old and the wood is so smooth and stuff, it's just amazing. Just hanging out in the lobby after dark is really fun. They usually have some kind of pianist or band playing some nice music (my mom kept wanting me to go play the piano when there was nobody there:na:). It's so peaceful and comfortable in there. It's very hard to get out of the chairs once you get comfortable:mdr:.
Yellowstone is an excellent place to get good exercise with all the hiking and walking. There are so many amazing geysers and hot lakes (The Grand Prismatic Spring is another of my favorite places, though you need to get up high to see its true beauty). Another thing I really like there is the food. So many places to eat, and most of it is quite reasonable. I especially enjoy the Lower Hamster, though I don't think they call it that any more. The cook makes the food on a giant grill right in front of you, and it is quite fascinating to watch, not to mention the food is fantastic. We mostly ate breakfast there, but they serve all meals, I believe.

Anyway, good luck with your trip. Have lots of fun!

Brijar!!!

You could come to eastern South Dakota! We have flat ground, cornfields and beanfields. Not to mention the never ending country roads. I've lived here all my life and I love it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mrJ0CYjMcN0 - If you want to see the flatness.:yipi:

I dont think I've ever seen a traffic jam either. (biggest city is sioux falls - 120,000)

Arct1k 05.19.2008 05:50 PM

How to Oprah tickets!

I'm sure we can find a Spa near the race track - will she miss you for 6 hours?

If you like out door stuff Id say Colorado into the mountains. Or even Jackson Hole Montana. Both great places for outdoor hiking and beautiful scenery.

i was thinking about colorado actually.

will have to look into it more tomorow.
