iphone
hey guys i have a real quick question!!
currently i have the xv6800 pcket pc and i have to say that the phone sucks... it LAGSSSSSSSSSSS SO BAD and you cant even watch videos on the phone..... verizon is an ok provider i cant complain but the phones are quite lame IMO. im lookin to get the iphone today and need some QUICK responses!! i know the iphone 2 may be coming out this year but ill deal with that when it comes. i just want a phone that is worth its money (my phone is worth about 400 and it blows.) let me know what you guys think about the iphone!! (i will be getting it with unlimited internet use also) thanks! |
DO NOT GET THE IPHONE it lags even worse with random lock ups. Waste of money. Get he BB pearl or Curve it is very fast and can do everything
|
im definetly going to stay away from any blackberry device.
not my typea phone.. |
blackberry's are awesome man, cheap to
|
New 3G iphone will be out soon - I would not buy the current version... they are selling them off now in uk...
|
i dont reallyt like the way they look...
i will probably get the iphone and if i dont like it i have 14 days to return it |
you asked for our opinion ad we gave it to you. If you had already planned on getting the iphone why ask us if you should or not. If you want the iphone get it. Just think you will regret it. iphone is only cingular too and they suck.
|
I don't think an iphone sucks. They are nice gadgets, not as unstable as you say/experience they are. The only downside is that you need dedicated software to control them.. (itunes, which includes a virus named quicktime) They will get unstable if you use 'odd' software, but so is allmost any other OS based device.
It's obvious you are no apple fan, but an iphone doesn't suck, and a blackberry doesn't rule. They are great devices. a downer is that the back is relative fragile and will scratch pretty soon. (but so will any other phone) |
I like my iphone. No problems. Compared to the POS I was using. Map feature nice when i try a shortcut and get lost.
|
I liked my iphone a lot until I washed it. It was stable, got great reception, and was a good phone. My complaints were that it was very slippery to hold with dry hands, and it wasn't as loud as my old LG. Also couldn't use it as an external HD.

But if you have money to burn for old tech... pop to the shops now PS I also get 6% off at apple http://www.engadget.com/2008/05/19/3...y-case-render/ |

The shelves are getting emtpy. That is a sure sign the new one is just around the corner. I hate my phone... and now it broke. I am using a old phone with my sim card right now. Debating if I should get a Iphone or not.
FWIW I had a HTC 8525. Was flucky from day one. highflier |

I LOVE my iPhone
I have jailbroken mine though, much less limiting compared to normal, I wouldnt say its really fragile, I have dropped mine flat on its screen, or whatever (#$%(%) many times, and it isnt scratched, the chrome however is stupid and scratches.... It also is slippery when your hands are dry Id go for one, but this close to summer I would wait if you could to get one |

|
Well, I love my iPhone. That's all I have to say.
|
I have the iphone and love it. It has its quirks but which phone doesnt? IF u r planning to get one, I will wait for a month for the rumoured 3G version. Why 'rumoured'? Its all a rumor till Steve holds it in his hands at the show. :)
If you want a super stable iphone, dunt load the 3rd party apps on it but then again, i have crapful of apps and its very stable. |
this is where you are wrong blfuture
my phone bill for verizon is 100 bucks and i get is 450 minutes. unlim internet and free verizon txting. with at&t i will get 450 min unlimited errone txting and unlimited internet for the same price. but with at&t i can txt anyone... with verizon i have to pay a grand amount. im guessing youve never really compared plan pricing? also, you get a ipod and a phone built into one device. i dont know where you get to think that the iphone isnt worth it. the ipods are not worth it if you ask me. why pay 300 for an ipod when you can pay 100 more for the iphone? im sorry but i just had to clarify this. |

Also, I'm having a problem with my mail. Whenever I click on the mail icon on the home screen, the mail starts to load and then disappears, and goes back to the home screen. I had it hacked with installer and all of that but then it had a MAJOR glitch and when I clicked the top button to put it into sleep mode the screen would go about half dark and all my screen that you see when you use the slider to start the phone would appear, about half dark. The icons on my home screen would work, but doing anything on any app did not work at all. So, I restored it on iTunes to take installer off and the rest of the phone works, but my mail does not. BTW, when I hacked it, I was using the 1.1.4 firmware and I used the ZiPhone hacker, (supposed to be the one that works with 1.1.4....) Can anyone help me?

the ipod touch, to me, makes no sense. it's just eye candy without the mass storage gooey center of the ipod classic.
i have, and love, the 160gb ipod classic. it holds/archives over 7,000 of my songs, over 2,000 of my high res photos (i take a lot of shots with my digital rebel), about 8 full movies, and is still under half the capacity. works great as an external storage device as well, and i have the other 80gb at my disposal. i lost all my music and pictures when an old hard drive decided to fry out, so being able to archive my full music and photo collection on my ipod is important. :oh:  |

To funny, I had this exact problem when I installed some beta app, really pissed me off One day I was on the net, and found something cool, so I wanted to email it to me, so I went and said send to bla bla, emailed it to me, and after I did that my mail worked, I guess the mail home buttons folder or something was weird, but it fixed my prob |
Ok. Where would I find this magical thing?

FYI to everyone. i am kinda a phone guy and i have a little info for you. i read the newest blogs and post daily and keep up to date on my info...
the new, 3G iPhone will have actual GPS, none slippery black plastic case (kinda like the texture on the Moto Q ) and will have a 2mp camera. 16gb and 32gb size options with a $100 difference in price. if you switch to ATT and sign a new 2 year service agreement, you will get $100 off price of phone but you MUST sign a data plan to the iPhone. Yes, you can cancel it later but they do this so you see how "fun" the iPhone is with it. in my eyes, when it will come with WiFi capabilities and there are so many "Hot Spots" around now, whats the use? i am at work all day on a PC and we have wireless here in the office. at home, i have wireless, most bars have wireless down here in my area. (South Florida) so whats the point in paying 30 bucks a month more for the data plan. just me, but who is going to be out with friends checking and sending emails back and forth. your not. your going to be drinking, driving, at the beach, whatever and you will not what to be rude and be on your phone constantly. or better yet, send the emails you want and when you get home, they are all sent. you get the point. i may keep the data plan for a while and see how it is. but for the simple fact of having a 32gb iPod, iPhone, Internet at your fingertips, 2mp camera, Video, Movies, Music, unlimited games and most importantly a bad a$$ looking phone i am definatly sold. got a quick story on topic.. kinda funny, kinda why i am on these forums... 4 months ago i was at a wedding in Idaho with my girl. 3am i am walking into a bar and trip over an iPhone near the front door. nobody was around so i picked it up. too drunk to see anything on the phone or how to use it, i decided to play with it in the morning and call the last few numbers and get it to its rightful owner. phone stayed on all night and when i woke up, phone was dead. i was leaving to fly back home that morning so i brought it home, took it to my buddy at ATT and told her to find out who it is by the serial number and get the phone to them. she looked up some info and foudn out they already (it had been 2 days now) paid 50 bucks for the insurance replacement. she said, why dont you just keep it as an iPod and be happy. since i am on Verizon, thats my only option i guess. i ended up, 3 weeks later, trading someone a 3906 eMaxx for the phone and never looked back. the phone had a scratch down the entire screen and was annoying me for movies and music videos. so no loss to me, only a gain on a nice RC. i have spent around $500 on the eMaxx so far and dont have anything left to upgrade besides an extended chassis and minor parts. so i am totally happy.... sorry for the long story guys... i am bored here at work this morning. Cheers! |
Man, am I the only one who thinks a phone should just be a phone? When are they gonna start doing the laundry and dishes? Personally, manufacturers try to cram so many features into these things that they don't excel at any one thing. Seperate devices are a PITA to carry around, but offer better performance (esp for the $$$).
When I got my phone about a year ago, I asked the guy at US Cellular (because everyone I know is on that carrier and get free cell to cell calls) for just a basic phone - no camera, no PDA, etc. I did however want something sturdy since I tend to be hard on phones (broke several work phones in 2 years). He just looked at me kinda funny and pulled out my current Motorola V323i. It's perfect! Just wish it had one measly game on it for when I'm bored waiting for movies to start or something... My g/f has a Palm Treo 700p and it seems ok. She got it because her previous job was a real-estate agent and they had software specifically for that phone. Buttons are too tiny for my large fingers, doesn't have GPS, reboots itself every week or so, and web browsing is so-so. It has a full browser, but is missing Flash, Java, etc plugins. And it sometimes swaps between the mobile version of a site (if the site has it)) and the non-mobile version - like the server can't really decide what it is. However, I found a nice little app that lets her use it as a "modem" on her PC. Speed isn't too bad (~1.5mb/s), but the latency sucks - not good for many server requests and certainly not for online gaming! |
I have a Verizon Krazer that I piggyback on my wifes account I think cell phones are a PITA and the only reason I have one is because my wife wants me to have one in case of emergency. Half the time I leave it at home and I am lucky if I use more than 20-30 mins a month and compared to my daughter who will rack up to 4000 text messages a month(something I will never understand)

With the GPS 'feature' now not only can the FEDS listen in on your coversations they will know where you're at:diablo: |
Ahhh thats been a option for a while with many phones. A lot of the phones have GPS built into the phone and just not accessable to end users. And the ones that don't can triangulate on the tower signals, That gets them pretty close to you.

people may think they same with the brushless trucks on here. "why do those people want so much power" why do i want so many sweet options on my phone? its just one of those things that im into! i would love to be able to go on the internet... then goto my itunes.. then call someoene... then gps my way to a freinds house.. then txt my freind. idk. its just what some people like! |
