Servo

I recently broke my servo it was a Hitec 645MG, which I wasn't very pleased with anyway, better than stock but not a massive improvement.

I'm looking for something around the same price maybe abit more that gives a faster and more powerful response to turning. Hope you can help, thanks. :)

RC-Monster Mike 09.18.2005 11:27 AM

JRZ650 is similarly priced with more speed. It works great in my revo(nitro). I have the TG servo inmjy e-revo, which is incredible. I can turn the 40 series tires lock to lock at a standstill in grass! Pricey, but powerful!

Nick 09.18.2005 12:15 PM

Could you point out which is the TG servo please?

RC-Monster Mike 09.18.2005 12:22 PM

Sorry, Nick. I haven't listed in yet. it is a hitec digital servo-333oz/in of torque and .15 speed at 6 volts. I will list them with the servos-they will be in stock this week.

RC-Monster Mike 09.18.2005 12:28 PM

Listed it in the radio equipment category, Nick. No picture, though.

I have got the jr z650 in my sons stock emaxx. It made a notable difference from stock and seems stronger and faster. The supermaxx has the 5955tg, outstanding.:D

Nick 09.18.2005 01:40 PM

I'm intrested in the TG but don't want to hit it like I did with this one. A rather nasty shaped stone smashed it.

Any ideas? Are servo covers any good?

Waxxxymunkee 09.18.2005 09:47 PM

Anyone use the Hitech robot servo I might use those for my crawlers :C:

Papa 09.19.2005 07:34 AM

Most of the discussions I have read about Robot/5995tg vs 5955tg concluded that the 5955tg was the better choice for car applications. The reasons for this are:

1. 5995 features cool heatsink case, 5995 nada
2. torque and speed are the same @6V
3. 5995 servo rotates 180 degrees compared to the traditional 75 degrees most R/C servos travel, requires additional servo programmer $$$ to dial out excess travel.

I hope that helps.

coolhandcountry 09.19.2005 08:18 AM

If you have a controller with epa on it. You shouldn't need the programmer. You could limit the range with controller. Correct or am I thinking to much again? :D

Papa 09.19.2005 08:23 AM

I sincerely doubt that a controler could dial out that much travel, over 100deg., through EPA. I could be wrong, would not be the first time.:)

coolhandcountry 09.19.2005 08:31 AM

My controller will dial out all movement of the servo. 0% is no movement. Will work with throttle and brake as well.

Papa 09.19.2005 08:44 AM

Heck, he may want 180deg. servo travel. I hear what your saying about EPA. I just think dialing out 80deg. -vs- 180deg is greater than 100% reduction in EPA. Follow my logic?:C:

coolhandcountry 09.19.2005 08:50 AM

I understand what you saying. It is all good papa. We probably talking about same thing just don't know it yet. I get lost sometimes. :D

RC-Monster Mike 09.19.2005 08:07 PM

I am pretty sure the controller could dial out the travel. It dials out travel as a percentage of total travel-not degrees of travel. If you wanted to use the robot servo, it would likely work. the car servo would be the obvious choice, though.

Found this quote on another forum:

It’s best to reset the EPA with the programmer to maintain maximum resolution, but turning down the EPA will work.

Well I have the Futaba PCM I hope that helps im still learning this controller :M:

Nick 09.20.2005 03:13 AM

Right, I'm thinking of just getting the Bluebird, as I don't think I will get much more without spending annother £20 or so.

Here it is:

Also, what power supply does the UBEC give to the servo? 6V? Does this not drain the batteries quick = less runtime?

RC-Monster Mike 09.20.2005 06:13 AM

I have those servos as well(listed with no picture). I don't think you will get more for the price, but it is no comparison to the TG servo this post was talking about.

Nick 09.20.2005 12:14 PM

Yeh, I would probably go for a more expensive option but I need a new servo this week and I can't afford fast internation delivery.

Sorry.

coolhandcountry 09.20.2005 06:09 PM

You won't see a difference in run time nick. It is 6v to the servos.
If the supply falls below 6v it goes to bypass.

on a slightly different topic. i got an emaxx with hs-645mg servo. it works fine but after a while the screw that link the servo gear to the steering handle loosens up and i have to tighten it back to steer again. is this the original intent of the design so the servo won't be damage by hard hits or turns(hitting objects at an angle)? should i buy another servo or steering gears/handle?

is there also an all metal alloy servo available for the emaxx? i thought hs645mg was all metal but when i open it it has one plastic gear and the rest metal.

Basketti 10.22.2005 05:06 AM

I have the hs-645 servo on my stock emaxx, it has one of those spring servo horns and it works ok but i just put on some aluminum beadlocks with jumbo claw dawgs on it and it winds the spring alot lol so i'll change the wheels back to something else. im gonna save up for the 333oz servo for my aluminum e-maxx. I thought i might aswell cause after i get that i'll never need another one, and i'll get the supermaxx servo saver :)

rctruckz 11.03.2005 04:41 PM

645's were used alot in large scale gas (such as FG models) a problem some people had was the EPA... default factory settings were set at 100%..if you your steering jammed for whatever reason then it caused the servo to burn-out, a way around this was to set the EPA (End Point Adjustment) to about 90%

Anywayz back onto topic!

I use Multiplex servos (big red things), no probs with them so far & the torque is very nice, can turn my 1/6 FG MB wheels full lock & very quick while stationary :-)
