Fiesta Island E-Revo bash (video and pictures)

I would first like to mention that this is the first video I have ever edited, so I could not figure out how to do everything. It also did not help that the cameraman couldn't keep their hands still for the life of them. lol  Anyway, it was a good day of bashing with no broken parts.

Two pictures of the Revo after the bash:

And here are two pictures of a "smart" guy trying to show off that his truck can drive in a lake.

And finally the video: (Once again, sorry about the shakiness...)

Good job on the video and it looks like you have an awesome spot to bash. Also what size pinion do you use?

Matthew_Armeni 06.02.2008 08:04 PM

Dude! Next time you go out there you gotta let me know! I live like 5min from there, I can bring out my Losi's and my Revo, give you a chance to test out the elektri-clutch:wink:

jnev 06.02.2008 08:38 PM

I didn't know you live in that direction of me! I'll definitely let you know next time I'm out there.

Mike_D - I am running an 18 tooth pinion and 38 tooth spur. Speeds are about 38 - 40mph.

kulangflow 06.03.2008 10:55 AM

That was the first vid you've ever edited? I thought it was really good! I actually watched the whole thing when usually I give up halfway through. :-)

Great spot to bash too.

bl-is-future 06.03.2008 10:57 AM

I hate you tube (only works when it wants to on my work computer). I will try to watch when i am out of work. Nice pics though.

jnev 06.04.2008 12:03 AM

Yes, kulang, that was the first video I edited. The other two video's under my username were edited by friends. It is a great spot to bash, it is just a shame I don't get to go there more often. Its funny because every time I go there, the mounds of dirt are different shapes, sizes and in different places than when I was there the previous time...

bl-is-future: The same thing happens on the computers at school...

mkrusedc 06.04.2008 10:41 AM

Sweet, what a great bash spot!! Looks like a blast.

brushlessboy16 06.10.2008 06:54 PM

for the two guys in the truck.....PWNED

rootar 06.10.2008 08:57 PM

Haha, I was just there Tuesday bashing along with a friend of mine. There were tractors and trucks hauling/moving dirt all over the place. We ended up finding a little tiny mound of dirt away from all of them, but it wasn't too bad. I think they use the dirt on the beach, or take beach dirt and put it where it is in the middle. There was a good 4 or 5 months that they had the PERFECT hill about 2 years ago, I still remember it, haha.

Where else do you bash in SD? I'm really at a loss as to where else I can go, and I don't think I want to drive around forever looking for a place.

TruckBasher 06.28.2008 05:03 PM

Nice vid, doesnt look like it was a first-timer...great spot..

Nice truck

jnev 06.28.2008 05:21 PM

E-Traxxer: Glad to hear there is another RC-Monster member in San Diego. Maybe sometime later this summer, we can get a little bash with Matthew_Armeni and whoever else that lives near by who wants to come. Fiesta Island is pretty much the only place I go to bash. However, it is a good 15 to 20 minutes away (I'm in Del Mar area), so laziness kicks in when I want to go there. But other than that, I'll sometime just run my trucks on my street or at the school which is up the street from me. I also remember it how it was 2 years ago. Too bad now that area has like a hundred piles of hardened dirt with rocks... unless it changed since I went during the video.

Thanks TruckBasher!

E-Traxxer 06.28.2008 05:35 PM

You're in Del Mar? I'm in Carmel Valley(ish). We're not too far away from each other.
When I went on Tuesday, there looked to be one good hill that wasn't too rough, but the tractors were moving pretty much everything, so I'm not sure if it looks the same now. We would have scoped it out but there were signs telling us to go around.
I'd like to get a bash together sometime. I always end up inviting a friend of mine who drives my extra RCs (he doesn't have any of his own). The bigger the group the better!

DRIFT_BUGGY 06.28.2008 05:44 PM

Is that your Toyota ute? Wish they were bought to Australia. We just got our 2nd TRD vehicle in Australia which is the TRD Hilux and looks great but only come in 4 door.

Nice video to, looks like a great spot and you had alot of fun

E-Traxxer 06.28.2008 05:49 PM

The Hilux is a modified version of the US's Toyota Tacoma, from what I know. I have a Toyota Tacoma myself (same car as the one in the picture), but it is a double cab, so it has 4 doors like the Hilux. The Tacoma here is available as a double car (like mine, 4 doors) an access cab (the one in the picture) and a normal cab (3 seats in the front, 2 doors). We don't have a diesel option like the Hilux does though, at least I think the Hilux has a diesel option...

I almost like the looks of the Hilux more... haha.

I'd post a picture of my truck, but due to the DNS hijack of Photobucket, I can't, sorry. :(

DRIFT_BUGGY 06.28.2008 06:01 PM

Yeah there is a Turbo Diesel option which sounds sweet, you can really here the turbo spool up on it. That red one that I posted up is the supercharged version

TRD also bought out the Aurion wish was the 1st TRD vehicle in Australia and only came out little over a year ago

Nice vid!!! I live on Cape Cod and take the family to the off road beach here and it never fails that some yahoo decides to drive on the beach w/out airing down or thinks because they have a 4x4 that they cannot get stuck...shame on them.

jnev 06.28.2008 06:39 PM

Its shame Diesel is the most expensive gas now... and what E-Traxxer said about the trucks are correct.

Not many people have heard of Carmel Valley, but that is right where I live. I just said Del Mar because it is more known... Do you know where Torrey Pines high school or Ashley Falls elementary school is...? I live down the street from both, but am closer to the elementary school.

E-Traxxer 06.28.2008 07:05 PM

Yeah, I pass by that area pretty much every day. I'm a bit more inland, though. We probably live about 5-10 minutes away :oh:

Oh, and also, I know diesel in Europe is about the same as regular unleaded IIRC, the US just doesn't have many refineries for diesel fuel. I love diesels, I'd have gotten one if any midsize truck offered it.

BL_RV0 06.28.2008 07:17 PM

My dad's got a 1984 BJ60 landcruiser diesel. This pic is from the new year's trip to death valley. (The bumper has been since painted black.)

E-Traxxer 06.28.2008 07:28 PM

Thats a nice truck :)
I love expedition vehicles, especially if they're diesel! It a double-love thing.

BL_RV0 06.28.2008 07:29 PM

Yup. We're getting a new lift kit soon too!

DRIFT_BUGGY 06.28.2008 09:05 PM

This is the Arctic Truck Hilux similar to the one used by Top Gear in their Polar Special

E-Traxxer 06.28.2008 09:20 PM

Is that an aftermarket mod, or is it an option from the factory?

The Hilux has been fitted with parts like heavy duty locking differentials, thick skid plates, fuel heaters etc. The mods have been done by ‘Arctic Trucks’ a company that specializes in prepping 4WDs for extreme conditions. Here’s the list of mods if you are interested.

* Studded snow tires of 38 inches in diameter on 15 inch arctic trucks aluminium wheels replace the standard 255/65 R16 wheels and run at pressures as low as 4psi to give good flotation over snow. Two valves per wheel.
* Heavy duty winch mounted on a heavy duty bulbar with lifting points.
* Xenon auxillary driving lights for areas with bad visibility.
* Arches flared by 30cm to protect the tires.
* Standard 169bhp 3.0 D-4D engine modified for ultra-low air temperatures.
* Extra coolant added to boost coolant temperature before start-up together with fuel heaters and a heavy duty battery.
* Fat 5mm aluminium skid plates protect the bumper, suspension, transmission and transfer case.
* The position of the front suspension was moved 50mm towards the ground, then moved forward 40mm.
* Lots of kits including shovels, pry-bars, jacks, towing strap, tool kits, first aid kits and a chain saw.
* Locking front and rear diffs modified to cope with the cold.
Special exhaust, raised air intakes and an extra 90-litre fuel tank to increase the total capacity to 170-litres.
* Shotguns were carried for protection against polar bear attack.

E-Traxxer 06.28.2008 10:49 PM

Sounds like you could have a fun winter with one of those babies. Snowmobiling expedition anyone?
I actually prefer killing polar bears with my bare hands though, it's much more manly. No need for shotguns, I could replace them with fairy wands and unicorn drawings, much more masculine that way.
