New brushless Erevo Speed run

Thought you'll might like to check this out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nLY9EGOfwOc 47 mph Just bought it yesterday.Novak 4.5 with 14/68 gearing,Dirt bonz, and ebay budget 8000mah lipos(best bang for the buck cells out there imo)It's my normal setup, but the first radar of that speed.I have good luck with this combo and am really starting to doubt whether or not the medusa 2000 is gonna make me happier, but I should get it this week and see.The quark 80b is modded with heatsink and caps, all wired up ready to go.Any bets on top speed out of the medusa on 4s?I,m thinking I'll be lucky if it's faster.

Im impressed, didnt know the little motor had that in it....

andy85 06.15.2008 09:47 PM

yea thats pretty good with the revo being pretty heavy..

big greg 06.15.2008 10:04 PM

thats the hv maxx? wow i am impressed, whts the temps like?

VintageMA 06.15.2008 11:02 PM

WOW!!:surprised: That's like 74,000 rpm on 4S in order to get that speed.

I am truely amazed that motor didn't blow up.

What are your temps like, and what how long can you run it with that motor?

Not once you figure in tire ballooning.it's 63000 then :)
The hottest it's been was 170,but that was hard bashing with stock talons in thick grass. The dirt bonz lowered the temps some and don't balloon near as much.I've ran it for an hour and kept temps under 160.I drive it with a style to help control temps. If I were to just hold it wot then I'm sure it would melt down.

VintageMA 06.15.2008 11:22 PM

Are you running 3S or 4S?

asheck 06.15.2008 11:29 PM

I'm running 4s.If it would do that on 3s I think you'd have to crown a new king to brushless motors.

I was just trying to figure your motor speed based on voltage drop and looks like you are figure 3.15v per cell to get 63000rpm with that motor and batteries.

I would be very hesitant to run that setup on quality 4S cells as you'll have some serious speed going there.

big greg 06.15.2008 11:42 PM

that little thing is revvin thats for sure

I clocked my 3905 at 47.2 with 15/68 gearing on 3s. I run HPI tires which I think are a little taller and definitely ballon more than stock. I'm limited to 3s because I run a VXL esc. I was using a Garmin GPS to check speeds. My temps are never over 130 on the motor but the does esc like to run 190 - 200.

What kv are you figuring for the motor? It's rated 4800 non loaded I figure loaded it's more like 4400.The new pro is rated at 5000kv,but I bet it's more like 4500 loaded.

Well since in the end your cells dictate your speed, and this is 1 of the highest speed I've seen out of a hv in a mt like this,I have to say I have quality cells. They just don't cost alot.

Are you saying thats on a 4.5 motor?Because I don't think it would do it.

Yep, Novak 4.5HV with 2 3s Maxamps 5000mah run in parallel. Why don't you think it would do it? Your truck does it and they are roughly the same weight but I'm geared taller.I know Maxamps aren't the best batteries but running them in parallel helps them hold their voltage under load, so I might actually be running the same voltage as you under wot. I'm not sure of the exact batteries you are using so I can't say for sure.

asheck 06.16.2008 09:32 AM

If you said you did I'm gonna believe you . 47 was the fastest I had seen a 4.5 on 4s in a fully stock MT,posted or otherwise, and I just pulled my 4.5 from my emaxx and the fastest I radared it in there was 43,but not on totally fresh batteries.I don't think the motor will handle enough amps to push that on even 12volts,but I've been wrong before. But it does amaze me sometimes.Your tires would have to be 7.5 inches if you figure 12 volts and 4500kv.

Well from previous tests I can tell you that these perform almost identical to MA cells. But actually will handle more constant load.

JerryF504 06.16.2008 01:36 PM

I just measured my tires. They're 6 3/8 inches tall and are very soft. They balloon a lot so maybe they are getting some extra gearing from there also. I had to rob my front diff for a converted Sport Maxx so maybe being 2 wheel drive helped by removing some rotating mass. I also was wondering how much the kv actually drops with a load. It's rated for 5000kv but I was figuring it would be closer to 4700kv. Even at 4500kv I get 47mph on Brian's speed calculator with just adding .5" of tire ballooning. I took this system out of my E-Maxx because I bought another MMM so I can't recheck at the moment but I will when I get some more time.

asheck 06.16.2008 01:50 PM

Yeah from my experience being 2wd adds alot.In my Savage it would go from 35 4wd to 38 2wd .By you saying it's rated at 5000 you must have the new pro system,it's supposed to have more power and run cooler. So with those factors it makes it a little more acceptable, in my mind anyway :)
