Maximum minutes on the MMM

Hey guys we are hearing all the stories about how the MMM's have died. I was wondering how many minutes of run time people have put on their MMM's. I'm assumming some of you guys who's did not break should have racked up some hours now.

Mine went over 90 minutes the first time, less that an hour the second so I'll say:

"140 minutes with 2 failures"

What about you guys?

DRIFT_BUGGY 06.16.2008 06:16 PM

15 minutes no failure. Will be able to test it out this Wednesday at my local track and hopefully get alot more out of it. Was those 2 140min failures using the internal bec?

phatmonk 06.16.2008 06:39 PM

40 minutes on the 1st,25 minutes on the 2nd and 45 minutes on the 1st after it had been repaired.Thats 2 controlers 3 failures.Iam going back to my MM with a bec. This has become a huge pain in my wallet.CC has though been great to try to fix the problem.

rabosi 06.16.2008 10:28 PM

I have 3+ hours total on mine. Mix of 60+ speed runs and lots of grass/dirt 40+. Grass over 3 inches.

George16 06.16.2008 11:07 PM

I have over 2 hours on mine. Most are just speed runs on asphalt and some on newlymowed grass.

finfin 06.16.2008 11:13 PM

2 hours and 40 minutes with 4s 4000 mah, 8XL feigao and external BEC. It still work but don't know when it will die.

MTBikerTim 06.16.2008 11:26 PM

I think I got about 3 or 4 minutes on mine after being fixed and dying twice but I really don't see the point in this thread. Castle will get it sorted. This is just scaring people. I just bought a Micro Pro as I have had it with my coging Quark 33a Pro car. The 4 minutes driving with the MMM showed me what smooth really was.

joeling 06.17.2008 01:37 AM

so far,

1) 15 minutes light running a track
2) 1hr+ hard running around track with external bec & fan powered off that mod
3) 10-15 minutes hard running until the buggy got broke. Monster is ok

Regards,
Joe Ling

bruce750i 06.17.2008 10:18 AM

2-3 hours 4s & 6s internal bec, same fan no mods. Also blew a 8xl motor with it on 6s, And its still kicking.

Tim, the point of the thread is to see how much run time people have on "the Good ones". It will give us a better over all veiw of the situation. People tell me "mine is working fine" the I ask how much it's been run & normally what they tell me is less time than what I got on mine before it failed. I'm not worried about Castle taking care of it, they have been outstanding thru this whole thing. I'm just trying to get a feel for how many people have say a few hours on it verses them telling me it works fine when they have only run it for a few minutes. Should'nt scare anyone? Yes the MMM is supper smooth, I was considering a clutch until I used the MMM, now forget about it.

badassrevo 06.17.2008 10:58 AM

I have 8 race days on mine. that is 3, 5 min quals and 15min mains with a few 25 min mains (req battery swap) and 3 practice packs per race day. I also have 12 4s 5000 packs and 4 5s 4350 in my yard.
This is in a Losi 8ight with a Neu 1512 2.5d in it.
I don't understand why some work and some don't.

RBMike 06.17.2008 12:51 PM

So Badassrevo would you say about 500+ minutes?

badassrevo 06.17.2008 12:55 PM

Yes, and adding to it!! My fan only has three blades left on it, but everything elese is great.

hootie7159 06.17.2008 08:41 PM

about 32 hours of bashing/racing (which might as well be called bracing ) and working flawlessly (with fan mod and CC bec) and nothing broken....
8ight-t
Neu 2.5d/f
5s 4800mah elite lipo

tc3_racer_001 06.18.2008 02:15 AM

With than fan mod, is that still the original fan?

MTBikerTim 06.18.2008 03:15 AM

I reckon I could break it lol.

Hootie what servos are you running?

hootie7159 06.18.2008 03:22 PM

I'm using the original fan in its original place but i soldered another connector on the end of the fan and now its hooked up to my receiver.....and i'm running the Hi-tec HS 5955 servo for steering....and by the way its on a dx3.0 w/ sr3000 receiver....and just yesterday I ran it for 2 hours straight at the local track (which includes crash and pick up time ) on 5s 8000mah truerc lipos and after each 30-40min run the temps were....esc=95....batt=100...motor=125..........i' m pretty happy and hopefully the next batch of MMM's that come out will be fixed so that way EVERYONE will be happy and be able to run a great controller with excellent customer support that also costs half a much a an MGM...

mk351e 06.20.2008 10:11 PM

I'll chime in here. Mine died during calibration, so after all the money and work that went into my whole new setup, I got NOTHING out of it!!!!!!! I am so pissed, it's not even funny. Castle screwed up some other stuff with me as well, and personally, I do not like them one bit right now. I am new to BL/LiPo, and I bought a CC product because everyone talks about how wonderful they are, but here's what I know: I bought an ESC that was rumored about for 3 years. Luckily, I was ready to buy when it actually came out. I waited a while to get it, and it came. I hung on to it while I finished up my build, and it died RIGHT AWAY. Then I sent it in for warranty repair, and if I'm lucky, I'll have it back 2 months or so after I sent it in. WOW. THIS is what everyove's raving about?? I mean seriously! I'm just shy from the point where I call them up and force them to give me a refund, as I don't actually have anything to show for my $170 other than pictures. If the current lead time is a month, then I think I'll look into buying something else, as I don't feel like waiting while they putz around. I currently have nothing to drive besides my micro t, and I live in NJ - it's cold here in the winter! I'm NOT letting the summer go by without my truck!!!

hootie7159 06.21.2008 01:38 AM

WHOA!!!! i guess that's one way to vent....i'm pretty sure everyone here on this forum feels and understands your frustration but kepe in mind that they are doing the best they can to fix this problem and one of the posts from patrick on one of the forums here said that they might be ready in3wks ....or something close to that...that being said there is always the mamba max that you can buy on ebay for around $80-$90 if you look around....my local hobby shop is selling them brandnew for $112....now for 4s setup's it would be a $10 HV cap and a $5 fan.....you can run all this while you wait and the best part is that there are available NOW :yipi: ... Once all this is fixed you will have the best bang for your buck for an esc (maybe even more bang  ) or if you can't wait there's always the $250+ MGM......$200+ novak.....or traxxas vxl setup....but you really can't beat CC customer service....i don't work for them or am sponsored by them (trust me if you saw me drive you would wonder why i'm even racing)but i've owned there products for about 3 years now and they are excellent.....but there's nothign wrong with venting

Dagger Thrasher 06.21.2008 07:25 AM

Crikey, that's what you call letting it all out! Castle have never had this sort of thing happen to any of their controllers as far as I'm aware, and this isn't even their fault; it seems to be National Semiconductor's, who supply one of the switching BEC components. Castle are working their *butts* off right now to solve the issue, and Patrick has said that they should be rolling out the revised controllers (using a different BEC switcher chip) within 2-3 weeks.

I don't work for Castle either, but I'm sure they're as frustrated by this as everyone else is. It's perfectly understandable to be annoyed by this mate (and I'm not having a go at you) but try to calm down a bit...they'll fix it. In all honesty, making posts like that aren't going to encourage them in the slightest, so just try to understand and cool down a bit. Castle are a great company, and they'll take care of you.

e-mike 06.21.2008 08:47 AM

+1 for you cc is a great compagnie:yes::mdr:

Happywing 06.21.2008 10:15 AM

That was quite a rant...and nobody should have a problem with it. He's a new CC customer with a legitimate gripe. He doesn't have the long history with CC that a lot of us do. That history is why most of us remain relatively patient. I'm somewhere in the middle. I like CC, but I feel they dropped the ball...I also know they will fix it. If anyone wants to complain, I feel that's perfectly acceptable. Post like that are not going to encourage or discourage CC. They are in this to make money and it will be fixed. What has surprised me, is all the CC butt-kissing. They deserve some heat for this.

hootie7159 06.21.2008 11:32 AM

next time you calll up CC ask the secretary about how much "heat" she's been getting ....talk about being on the front lines:slap: she's probably wanted to throw the phone through CC front window a gazillian times

Larrydino 06.21.2008 12:34 PM

Castle needs to do something extra for the long wait times on repairs..

Wakesurfer 06.21.2008 02:43 PM

Try to be a little realistic about the MMM situation. It's a new ESC, and in an attempt to get it to market sooner they skipped the Beta test. I'm a fairly new CC customer myself. I've gotten more straight answers and help from Castle than any other company I've ever dealt with. I've had to cave in a service managers door at a car dealership to get a minor problem fixed on a $29,000 new truck. I had to drag an insurance adjuster through the receptionist window at his office to get my point across about getting paid for damages their insured did to my car. I hate that crap. I didn't have to drive from St.Louis to Kansas to get help from Castle when my MMMs gave up. One easy phone call and I was able to get answers and help that I think went above and beyond what anybody could expect. Not a cross word, no attitude, just an apology and parts I could use until the MMMs get fixed. I'm not thrilled that the Monsters are having teething problems, but I think Castle is doing all they can to make it right.

phatmonk 06.21.2008 05:25 PM

I was never offered a loaner.Just a awkward silence.

azjc 06.21.2008 10:26 PM

electronic components do break down its in the numbers, when you have thousands made...I bought the Maytag stainless steel bottom freezer french door H20 refrigarator which ran about $2500 and after the 1st month it broke down to say my wife was dissapointed would be a very big understatement and luckily we had signed up for the warranty, but we did lose a bunch of food...it turned out to be a bad circuit board the tech that came to the house knew what it was before even looking at it

Pdelcast 06.23.2008 10:42 AM

MK351 and others --

I do feel your pain. We are working hard here to resolve the problem and have replacements ASAP.

We ordered the new circuit boards last week, and they should be here in a week. We are probably three weeks from first deliveries of replacement units.

We did do a Beta on the MMM, but did not see the same problems we had with production units. The Beta units used a different batch of components, and didn't have the same issue with failures as the production units.

mk351e 06.23.2008 04:54 PM

well, there IS a lot of CC butt kissing that goes on here, and maybe it is well deserved, I don't know - this was my 1st purchase. And maybe I did go slightly overboard, BUT, to say that this situation sucks; well, that's a bit of an understatement!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was so psyched to get my truck going! I bought a brand new truck (Muggy), and that's always fun, and I ditched every single item I own that's related to nitro to fund this very expensive project. I spent quite some time putting it all together, and then, poof! I would have been happier if I got a couple of minutes runtime at the very least, but I never even got to finish calibration.

I'm sure castle is upset and stressed out, but given my particular circumstances, I just wanted a working ESC, and I wanted it a few weeks ago. I know they'll fix it, but, well, this sucks!! Have I mentioned that already???

Arct1k 06.23.2008 05:11 PM

We all agree it sucks (including castle) - If venting helped I'm happy for you... I think we've all done it but realised it won't help it come any faster...

See your problem is you didn't get to run it at all. I ran mine and even when it died I couldn't wipe the grin off my face. After experiencing how smooth and powerful the MMM can be I know it will be worth the now extended wait to get it running.

E-Revonut 06.24.2008 12:41 AM

I got about an hour on mine before failure. However its not a bec failure. Just sent e-mail to cc and waiting to see what will happen. Fan had stopped and everything got hot but the fan works now as does the bec circuit, rx still powers up and servos work. Anyone else had a non bec failure of a mmm?

azjc 06.24.2008 02:27 AM

mine is still going strong.....this past weekend the tires became disconnected from the rims.....I have to buy new rims/tires but thats better than waiting for a new ESC..:-0

hoovhartid 06.24.2008 03:44 AM

I preordered the MMM and recieved it about a month before my e-revo. It sat on my workbench next to my tekno neu 1515/1Y. When the E-revo finally came in I spent the night (after work) soldering with a big grin on my face. At about 4 in the A.M. I took it outside. I went down the driveway and realized I didnt reverse my steering(spektrum), so i stopped, fixed that and turned it back on. I took it down the driveway again, and realized I needed to tighten the slipper:oops:. So, again I shut it down, fixed it and turned it back on. I got to the end of my driveway.....

...and it died!

Mine ran less then 3 minutes.

Had a problem with the mamba 25 as well. I updated to the latest software and it killed the esc. They sent me a sidewinder micro to replace it, but it took 3 1/2 weeks to get it because they were waiting on the packaging:neutral:

:drunk: now ....i'll drink....and wait
