MMM repair timetable

Well both my MMM are in for repair.CC said the middle of june till they have the parts to fix them.1 of my MMM has failed twice. When will I get my controlers back? What parts are failing? They fixed the 1st failed controler then it failed.Whats up!:whip:I want to drive my Losi 8T!

FG101C 06.16.2008 09:37 PM

This is the middle of June...so don't hold your breath. I'm waiting too and probably will be for awhile.

MTBikerTim 06.16.2008 11:13 PM

Yeah my nitro savage I think is going to be out of action for a while so it would be really nice if my MMM was fixed and back to me before the next club race in 2 weeks but I don't think it will happen.

ogrfre01 06.17.2008 12:47 AM

Im waiting, and waiting and waiting..... I actually think that its good that they are really getting to the root of the problem, however this seems to be pretty difficult as we hav´nt heard from CC if they have found the source of the problem, other then the "crappy" fan and some component in the BEC, it has to be something else also. ohterwise it feels like the second batch would to done by now (if the only problem is one component and a fan). As we hav´nt heard anything final yet my guess is that mid july.
But this is only speculations, go CC go

FG101C 06.17.2008 12:58 AM

Yea I'm not worried, when they do iron out all the bugs it's going to be one sweet ESC.

JeffEmbracedDC 06.17.2008 05:55 PM

Aye. Just sent mine in today too :( Had to buy a Mamba Max as a temporary replacement. Hopefully it gets sorted out soon.. especially for Castles sake. I'm sure it's stressful over there right now :( Thank you, Castle, for doing everything you can :)

hootie7159 06.17.2008 08:37 PM

yeah...i'm waiting on a MMM too....good thing I didn't sell my spare MM's.....at least I've got one MMM that still works....about 32 hours run time on it and still working...but of course thats with a CC BEC/and fan plugged directly into the reciever.....and the strange thing about the whole fan issue is that my fan has been working absolutely phenomenal....my MMM is ziptied like a gift-box so the case stays intact and i'm pretty new to racing and the track i go to has this huge triple AND i don't have the smoothest of landings at times..well most of the time....and the fan still works, nothing broken...(knock on wood)....give CC time and they'll get this all sorted out....

Arct1k 06.18.2008 10:58 AM

Not from CC re my dead MMM recieved but waiting on components - Looks like V1's will be back fixed with different silicon.

Correct -- we are changing the main switcher chip because of problems.

Ahh well that's good news. Though.. I snipped the wires short on my Monster before I sent it back assuming I was going to get a new V2 later on. I needed the bullets for my Mamba Max. Would it be possible to get it re-wired before it's sent back to me? I just sent it yesterday so you should have it next week.

killer question ETA on the part :)

I had one of the first failures but it was one where the chip fused itself to the board, does this mean I'll be at the front of the second run? Will the second run have the bullets soldered to the board or will they have wires like my first Monster?

phatmonk 06.19.2008 01:53 PM

I hope I get my 2 MMM repaired/returned before the 2nd batch of Monsters get released :diablo:

Arct1k 06.19.2008 04:16 PM

Patrick - Is the new part looking good - do you have to re-tool?

We have to re-tool to use the new part.... But we are almost done, got about two weeks before they are coming off the production line again.

phatmonk 06.19.2008 05:36 PM

So does that mean that the MMM will be replaced with new units or do we get the MMM that we sent in.

TexasSP 06.19.2008 05:59 PM

Am I correct in assuming that we who have had ours in for repair will get the first ones off the production lines then you will start filling orders Patrick?

This is what I was asking in post #12 of this thread, I guess it got over-looked. I was wondering because I liked the wires on the ESC instead of the bullets. I'm kinda scared that it will end up being a problem like the VXL ESCs.

phatmonk 06.20.2008 04:44 PM

I hope if the units are new they supply new 5.5 mm connectors and my power supply connectors:whip:I also just talked to Castle and she told me 1 month since the units need to be retooled or rebuilt. So I will be soldering the BEC onto my new MM so I can run my 8T.I sold 2 MM to buy the 1st MMM.I should have kept them.

The VXL ESCs use a bullet that is surface mounted on the ESC -- the bullets we use are through-hole, and are MUCH larger diameter than the VXL bullets so they are significantly stronger.

Hey Patrick: You guys have my MMM for the second time (no regulator output). I got the post card you send that says something to the effect of "we got your stuff & will repair it soon". Does that mean your going to fix it & return it or am I waiting for the new ones to get built?

Thanks
Mike

jhautz 06.23.2008 11:22 AM

So... If I have a first gen MMM that is still running, Can I send it in to get the Improved chip installed? Id rather have an ESC I can count on rather than just waiting for the day it finially goes.

It means you are waiting on the new ones. Sorry about that - - but you will get high reliability out of the new controller.

We will give priority to those who have a bad chip -- but yes, we will replace with a new version if you wish.

Cool, that's good to hear! I have an MMM which I've still not even powered up yet (waiting to finish the truck it's going in), so I think I'll send it back at some point before it's used and get it replaced with the new version if that's ok. Like Jhautz, I'd like to have an MMM that I *know* isn't going to stop dead at any time.

Top notch.:great: At this point I have 2 fully functioning MMM units in my buggy and truggy (with the exception of the fans being run off of the Rx rather than the MMM board cuz the little white plugs broke off of the board) and a 3rd that was going to go in a Savage, but to this point has been riding around in my pit box just incase.

Once you guys get caught up I will probably send them in for the upgrade.

Arct1k 06.23.2008 05:41 PM

Jeff - Thats plain greedy - send some working ones to NJ!

This is why I chose to jump in with both feet and buy the "first batch" of controllers. I expected Castle Creations to take care of its customers and they are doing that.

My Monster ESC worked great this weekend although it was only used in three 5 minute qualifiers and a 5 minute main. The testing/fun will continue.:mdr:

That's great to hear. I'd rather have the pece of mind with the new and improved ESC .

ogrfre01 06.24.2008 02:23 AM

It´s good news that the problems are isolated and very nice that Patric is keeping us up to date on the progress..... not so good that my time of work/competitions are almost over when they are expected to be finished... bummer..... lets just say i have very high hopes of this controller and its reliability.....
