i have the best t max crawler on the planet. if you think you have a better one i want to hear about it.
|
This thread is useless without pics :lol:
|
sorry dont know how to do that yet, i will work on it. a list of upgrades or mods is all i am looking for.
|
Dont kid yourself..
Please...
This is the best one on this forum,  http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7471 |

who has the coolEST t max crawler? im looking for allies and helpful advice not E-crawler superiority complexes. i cant wait to get video of my maxx climbing for yall to drool over. it may not be as good as electric but its what i have and its fun.
|
My stretched chassis mini giant is badass, not!
Fun truck, I should post up a few pics on it. I also have an x-factor that I am working on. It will be electric, and use a new emaxx tranny, with the super low first gear! I am thinking a 10xl and 4s thru a MM. Sign up to photobucket, and you can post some pics of your nitro crawler. I want to see it! |
thanks for the tip. do you know of any trans options for t maxx? i run a 16t bell with 72t spur gear but thats not enough. 2.5 optidrive is a turn lower but still... i want about a 60:1 ratio. stock is around 25:1 i have been told. i run 32 pitch gears now but if i went to .8 metric i might have enough room for a reduction device.
|
No e-crawler superiority complex here; I hate nitro AND crawlers equally.
Just bustin your chops 'cause we see no pics or vids. Not trying to start a flame war. |
You might as well just say, "My pee pee is bigger than your pee pee."
IMO, this kind of thread is pretty much useless and arrogance on this forum isn't really something most of us care to deal with. |
i agree. i joined this forum to meet people with the same goals as myself and to better the hobby for all. a lot of people have t max. alot want to crawl. a lot cant afford a new rig. we sent man to the moon and people try to say nitro cant crawl? besides my pee pee is a perfect 1:10th model. ha ha .

|
eh... is this a joke??
if not, this is the wrong forum to go about looking for nitro crawler. |
ya this forum is useless.

This forum is totally awesome; we’ve got some of the brightest gentlemen in the industry here willing to exchange ideas and rederrick. It’s apparent that you don’t have a crawler but you’re looking for ideas. That’s cool.. But you may want to think about phrasing your questions differently in the future. If you ask for help you will get it! lot’s of it (most great advise) :yipi: If you ask for a showdown IE (Bring it!) we will call you to the mat every time. Boys will be boys.. :mdr: Welcome to the Forum CM, I hope you enjoy your visits here, I know I always do. |

I have seen some pretty cool videos of nitro crawlers. This was 3 or 4 years ago though and I haven't seen many since and I suppose that is mainly due to most people going electric. It was pretty cool watching savages crawl though.
|
Hey guys, this is a somewhat interesting project. I am not a nitro fan, but lets try and help him out. I have half a dozen maxx trucks and so do alot of other members here. Lets see what we can do for him!
Wild shot in the dark idea here: If you really want a low ratio, and do not mind making some stuff, you could adapt a new emaxx tranny to the tmaxx. That way you could use the optional wide ratio 2 speed setup. It gets a low gear in 1st, very low. You would have to make up some sort of mech brake mount. And would not have reverse, and would need to add a shift servo if you wanted to use high and low gears. Sounds interesting to me... |
this isnt the type of place to use the N word. shhh...

I like to see other peoples custom projects, nitro or electric. It beats looking at pics of peoples bolt together vehicles, no fun in that!!! |
See here for a Traxxas revo nitro crawler project for a few pointers re gearing...
http://www.traxxas.com/support/kb_se...hlight=crawler |
thanks. now i have a few things to try.
|
Also, try the crawler forums for max based crawlers and gear reduction ideas:
http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/index.php We do love custom vehicles and trying new things, but this is a 99% electric forum after all. A nice reduction box of some sort would be cool, as would truggy ratio diffs to lower the overall drive ratio- need some FLM hybrid bulks, UE ultralites, or the LST/Muggy diffs for that. |
I don't know how you would make it fit on a Maxx, but the portal axles from RC4WD would help lower your speed. They have a ratio of 1.5:1.
|
I had words with RC4Wd regarding portal axles and i was told that they would not handle the power of nitro trucks, at least not for long. I am going to try this 14t bell and maybe have a bigger spur gear custom made. maybe 80t or whatever i have room for.
|
RCALLOYS.com is a good company to go to for custom made spurs.
|
I dont have a single best one, I love all my cars equally..

He was talking to crawler max. He bragged about having an awesome nitro based crawler (such a thing could never exist though), yet there are no vids, pics or any other details to show for it.

Ooooh... OK.. its all good. However, I have tried some rock crawling with my nitro TMaxx. One big problem off the bat "OVERHEATING". I guess fuel constantly loading up like that is not good for nitro motors. If you dont want fuel to load up then you gotta lean it out a lot. Either way you got major overheating problems. Drag brake and clutch response time would be an issue too right?
http://good-times.webshots.com/album/562025697XGWJlX |
Yep, the clutch would be a HUGE issue. And you'd have to use mechanical brakes, which in itself isn't so bad, but I would feel for the brake servo...
