What Neu Motor for CRT?

Hi Guys.

I might convert my Jammin' CRT to Brushless and screw Nitro for good!

1. What Neu motor is the best combo of Speed/Torque?

2. What Gearing is the best for staying cool and a good Speed/Torque Combo?

Thanks Guys.

Arct1k 06.26.2008 04:32 PM

I'm a fan of the 1515 2.5D/F 5/6s on appropriate gearing - use brian's calc

DiFabio42 06.26.2008 04:53 PM

Ok, Thanks.

What the Differential Ratio?

BrianG 06.26.2008 05:01 PM

Divide the diff ring-gear tooth count by the diff pinion gear tooth count.

And once you find out the tooth counts, let me know and I'll add it to the calc (note: I need the tooth counts, not the resulting ratio).

DiFabio42 06.26.2008 05:06 PM

I can't find the Ring Gear and Diff Pinion anywhere.

skellyo 06.26.2008 05:17 PM

I run a Neu 1515/1Y/F on 4S geared at 13:62.

Did you try looking in the manual? Ofna is usually pretty good about putting tooth counts either in the exploded views or in the parts list.

Arct1k 06.26.2008 05:19 PM

43/13 Iirc

Yip - checked in manual http://ofna.com/pdf/34963-x1crt-pro.pdf Page 1 & 2

cemetery gates 06.26.2008 09:14 PM

I also run a Neu 1515 1/y/f on 4s geared 14:62, I would guess it hits 35-37mph.(this is in a crt)

Bye:mdr:

1. How about on 6s? How much faster will it go?

2. Would the 1515/2.5d be faster?

Steve Krug 06.26.2008 10:33 PM

Not Fabio..........lol

You've got to run lipos buddy.

Neu 1515/1Y/F on 4S is the fastest, cheapest route probably...

36mph according to my GPS. With the temps I get though, it could easily be geared for 40+mph and be within an acceptable temp range.

Not bad.

Is a 2.5D on 6s faster?

Arct1k 06.27.2008 09:04 AM

2.5 on 5s/6s would be better - If you want a vote - Monster Mike runs a 2.5D in his truggy

Ok.

I just found out that the Lipo/Charger and stuff is REALLY expensive. I also need a Radio/Receiver.

I might get really nice 7-Cells for now.

Arct1k 06.27.2008 09:16 AM

The proteck 5s 4000 are 83 at amain - You get $5 off and free shipping if you round that up to $100

On the rx/tx - you should look at 2.4ghz - Dx3R is really nice but you can get the losi 2.4 on ebay for 80

DiFabio42 06.27.2008 09:17 AM

Hmm...

That will work.

What charger? Is there a good one under $100?

I would suggest Hyperion, its the only charger I have owned and have never had a problem with any of them, for under $100 this will do fine and you will need a PS or lead acid car battery, for a little more they have a ac/dc model but its output is only 50 watts

Or is the one you showed me better?

Also, How much can I sell a Dynamite Twin Peak Charger for? Used slightly.

Arct1k 06.27.2008 12:44 PM

Thats what I have (along with 2 5i's) it is just 5% cheaper and free shipping from b-p-p.com

just a heads up the 6s 8000 is a very big battery I have a 6s 5000 and I was surprised how big it was when I got it, and the charger you have a link to is the ac/dc battery I was suggesting but I didnt since you wanted to keep the price below $100, and its out put is only 50 watts...you would need about 200 watts to charge the 6s 8000 in an hour so you would be looking at 4hrs to charge that pack

Oh...

What's a 200 watt charger?

DiFabio42 06.27.2008 01:46 PM

http://www.impaktrc.com/product_info...oducts_id=2058

That's 250 Watts.

What power supply can I use with that?

I have that charger and its great, you were sayinh=g you wanted to keep the price down or that would have been my first choice to suggest, I run the ofna 14v 18 amp PS and its good here is a link

http://www.impaktrc.com/product_info...oducts_id=2428

just make sure the PS is a switching type the power is clean without spikes and you will be fine

that PS puts out 252 watts and you will need to factor in 20% for effiency and that takes you down to 200 watts ...so thats is the smallest PS I would go with if you want to charge the 6s 8000 pack, but when you run higher voltage you dont need such a big pack escpecially when you run a lower kv motor

DiFabio42 06.27.2008 02:42 PM

Ok. I am going to get the 6s1p 5000mAh Lipo. Will I still need that $100 Supply? Is there anyother CHEAPER one?

http://www.impaktrc.com/product_info...oducts_id=2418

Like that one?

azjc 06.27.2008 03:21 PM

I would expect to pay $100 for a decent PS, you could make one from a computer PS but you would need to make from a 600w supply, I believe there are cheaper PS for the hobby out there....when I charge my pack I am using about 135 watts...but dont try to get a PS that is just barely poerful enough I like to put together a set up where I allow my self some leeway

So, http://www.impaktrc.com/product_info...oducts_id=2418 that power supply is powerful enough? Because that Charger is 10A and the Power Supply is 10A.

DiFabio42 06.27.2008 04:06 PM

the TQ3 is an AM radio and you can get interference from a BL sysytem, and depending on the ESC, some come with an internal BEC others dont, if it didnt you will need to wire in one, some people have wired in a BEC with the MMM even though it has one but you can pull the red wire and it doesnt totally disable it. People have done this due to some of the problems with the MMM, I have done no mods to my MMM and it works great, once the 2nd gen have come out there will be no need to do this
