Nice conversion...super clean. On 5s that should rip!
|
look clean:yes:powerfull certainly:mdr:
|
Well done, made a very nice, clean setup. Had a chance to see how it goes yet?

Very nice work on the conversion! Let us know how it runs will you.
|
cool looking Hyper, really nice fab work ! I really like those wheels are they standard 17mm hub ? Enjoy the badboy
|
Nice layout Arct1k! I also like the looks of the body.
|
Sweet dude!
|
no tracktime just a few minutes in the garden but appears very balanced - L/R & F/R - flew really even and turns like a buggy :)
Now to get some track time! |
Cool man, just got the roller finished with mine today. Now just waiting for Mike's mount to come, then I got to figure out esc and motor. I like 5S for this, but only have a MM for now..
Too bad the MMM isn't quite yet fixed :( |
My MM actually took 5s at full charge!
|
Looks great! Now get it dirty. :yipi:
|
Very nice. Clean job.
Cool body on that thing. Thats the stocker right? |
yep thats the stock one - Only pain is few bodies I think will fit the pro rear mount.
|
Awesome looking truck Arct1k!
It's actually motivated me to start/finish up my Hyper ST conversion that has been sitting on the shelf for months now! A question for you though (as it's currently my stalling point): How is your battery tray secured to the chassis? I have the same RCMonster tray, and for the life of me, I just can't seem to figure out a good mounting method. Any info/pics would be very much appreciated. |

I don't have the RCM tray (I made my own,) but basically I put bolts thru the batt box and into the chassis. I drilled out the holes and ran a 3mm tap thru first. I cut off the end of the bolt that was sticking out. I did use flathead screws that I recessed the heads as well (using a large 1/4" drill bit, do it by hand not w/ a drill or you'll go all the way thru) Also, part of the box will overhang the mudguard. The little bubbles on the guards for the screws I cut off were it interfered with the box and just ran the screws all the way into the box instead. Again, if they are a bit long cut them down. A dremel cutoff wheel makes quick work, tho even a pair of wire cutters would work. If you don't have a 3mm tap, I've heard RCM Mike say to just use an oversized screw (or undersized bit for the hole) and just screw it in. Like Arct1k, I used a strap over the top of the tray. There are some convient holes in the chassis to bolt the straps down with. |
Sorry missed this - Mike supplied a bottom space - This was mounted from the bottom with some countersunk m3 screws using the exisiting holes.
In addition I added 2 countersunk screws from the top - having first drilled and tapped them. It is difficult without a tap into 7075. Then I mounted the tray into the spacer using 4mm countersunk screws. I also used just the middle guard mount into the battery tray. More to secure the guard than the tray. Lastly I use 3 straps - Mike 2 plus one end to end... I also use velcro in the bottom of the tray... |
Finn what did you decide on elecs?

Still hoping on the MMM one way or another. I'm running the MM/8XL on 4S now. Great power and decent runtime, but I'm not sure how the heat will hold up on the track or really hard running. I'm also using TrueRcs 4s1p 5000mah cells. They are doing fine powerwise, but I'm sure I'm pulling ~120A, and the batts get a bit warm at the end of the pack, ~110F. I still have the 2.5D (1515) I have yet to run. I need some more 5.5mm bullets. I want to get an additional cell for the 4s 5AH pack and make a 5S pack. That should give me the runtime & Amp capaility I'm looking for. Those are OOS too, but hopefully within the next couple weeks/days they should be back. I may switch the 2.5D in now before I get the 5S. The power of the 8XL may be a bit much for track driving and I can gear the 2.5D up a bit to make up for the lower voltage some. Really as soon as I can get a MMM the better. The combo would be nice, but last I saw the release date is Aug now? IDK, I may have to bail on the combo. I'll see, maybe I'll get it and just part it out if I get a good deal ;) |
The 2.5D is ok on 4s - that is how I'm running at the moment with I think 18/51.
I know it is a really bummer on the combo - I think I'd go for a single MMM now and then get a combo later... |

What the performance and heat like? I have a 14t and a 18T pinion I could run it with. I do have the 46T buggy spur btw, so equal gearing to you would be 16T. I have the 8XL geared 12/46. Temps on both have been ok so far, but I wouldn't gear any higher. Good spd too, just pizza cutters in the F if I hammer it. May have to go up from the 10K in the center. |
Heat no issue at all I'm 18/52 - I guess thats geared with no ballooning to 38mph...

I have a question for you that I can't seem to find the answer to anywhere. I have the Hyper ST Pro kit. The front universal driveshafts are to short (they pop out of the drive cups). They measure 129.5mm the rears are 132mm. Have you had this problem, also could you take a pic of the front without the wheels? Mainly the knuckles, I got the same knuckle I have on my Hyper 8 buggy and am thinking the problem may be in them.
Guess I could just call Ofna Monday too. Thanks for any help with this and nice looking conversion. |
Never mind I figured it out. The steering knuckles are left-right side specific. Not marked, but if I had been paying attention to the pictures I would have seen that.
