Race Upgrades For Matrix TR "FRE"
Well I figure that Ill have around $250 at the end of next week sometime and I am about to make a list for my Cen Matrix TR Arena FRE truggy. Ive decided that Im gonna put the purchase of buying a neu motor on hold yet again. Remember this setup is for racing. Heres what I had in mind.
ESC- Modded MM "Already installed" Possibly a MMM Motor- Align 600xl "Positive this is what I want" Lipo- Flightpower 3200mah 5s 30-60c "Will be getting 5s 5000mah TP or FP soon" Cap Board- (8) 330uf 50v caps. "For cooling" BEC- CC BEC Servo- Hitec 5645mg Digital Ultra Torque "Already installed" Radio- Futaba 3pm FM "Already have" I would like to know what other upgrades would you reccomend for this? I plan to run long 10-15min mains. What gearing would be optimal? Thanks |

I just cleaned her up today and all that mud and dirt are off the cvd's, chassis, towers and cambers. Ill see if I can take a few more pics later today.

get some 40 series :D
|
I was thinking of 40 series but I can only find 17mm hubs. I need 23...
|
according to cen, the Matrix Tr should come with 23's
|
|
Yes, ben they do come with 23mm hex rims. Arct1k- I was looking at those and thats most likely what Im gonna get.

nice truck.do you know the diff gear ratio of the tr?i cant find it anywhere.
|
9/26 is what i read, uses the same gears as the Gst 7.7
|
thats what it says on the manual.but i think its wrong coz when i put it on the speed calculator,it says ill go 5mph:surprised:.i already ran it wit a neu and it went at least 40mph.
|
you probably entered a value wrong
|
No the Artena uses 13/38 difs. Thr RTR Buggy uses 9/28 and the FRE Buggy uses 13/38 also. CEN uses some wierd ratios and different all over the board.
I personally would upgrade the difs with the Hotbodies truggy difs. 10/43 and then change the center spur to a 46T. The stock 66T forces you to push the battery way off to the side just because of how big the spur diameter is. Use the Cen buggy center spur. Also, a must do upgrade is the upper arm of the servo saver. the stock plastic ones break easilly. The CNC red is the solution. I have one sitting here new in the package if you are interested. I'll give you a deal on it LMK. I bought it for a CEN I had and then sold it before installing it. My other 2 cens were already upgraded so it sat in my parts bin for the last year. |
i use rrp 47steel spur on mine.i used to put kyosho plastic spurs on it but always get stripped.
jhautz, can u pm me price for the upgrade?do you have any other upgrades .thanks |
Jhautz- No thanks on the upgrade seeing that I already have it installed but thanks for the offer.

now it say 4mph on the speed calculator:lol:

Ok you guys good news! I was talking to one of my friends online and he reccomended me to a guy who custom winds brushless 6-pole motors. The weird thing is he has the 600xl instock and rewound to Delta 5 turn meaning 1680kv "same as stock kv" but instead he has 200 celcius windings in it and says their very comparable to the stuff they use for Neu windings. He says the before and after preformance results are pretty dramatic. The temps dropped quite a bit and preformance went up some. I asked him if he'd be interested in trading for a MM with an (8) cap board and he said yes. He is sending first so pics will be coming here very soon.

I plan to backorder the MMM here within the week and hopefully Mike's Cen mount as well... Is their anything else you guys would reccomend?
|
So far here is my list...
1) MMM ESC "Tower"= $150 2) RCM Mount= $50 3) RCM Mod1 16t 5mm Pinion= $12 4) Two 2s Lipo's From Brother "E-Maxx"= $50 Is their anything else I would absolutely need? |
Found a really good deal on a 5s. Align 5200mah 5s 25c-30c lipo for $210. The bursts doesnt thrill me but the cont rating and the price is what has my sold. This is definately on my list.
